It was good but not WOW. Nothing special about it. Rosemary cookie: 5 stars. To me it felt like a sugar cookie with rosemary. I is VERY good and I will get more :) Raspberry cookie: 3 stars. Meh. Spicy Thai pork: 4.5 stars. It is good and flavourful. The peanuts added an unexpected crunch which I really like and appreciate (I like textured food). The serving is for two. Not really unless the both of you are on a diet ;p Looked at the cake menu and I had emu eyes on a Frangipane cake/tart. Gonna order it for next week. Most of their croissants that I saw are VERY-VERY small and pricy :(

Unfortunately it looks like this place is close to closing with no selection and bad parking. Too bad. The pictures looked delicious.

Featuring locally sourced Bradley's sausage, the biscuit is bursting at the seams and usually requires me to use a fork in order to finish. The biscuit is light as air yet buttery and rich. I could order an entire tray of them and not share one! The service at Lofty Pursuits is so fast, yet you can tell each dish is prepared with love and attention. Place your order at the counter, peruse the house made candy, and tinker with a few classic toys, but don't forget to grab your table because your food is almost ready. I sat at the soda counter and ordered strawberry pancakes with bacon, and I tried their root beer flight. Turns out they didn't have all of the root beers because one was discontinued or unable to be sent to them any longer so one of my root beers was an orange soda. I liked the opportunity to try these sodas on tap and not commit to one. That's a really fun idea. Pancakes were fluffy and delicious. The bacon was good and I love strawberry pancakes so I'm a big fan when that's on the menu. I really didn't spend a lot of time there, but everyone was friendly and courteous and I didn't have to wait too long for anything from being greeted when I got there to being served. It was a great experience.

They have very unusual flavors there like caramel and chocolate with pretzels in it and several variations on moose tracks ice cream. In addition this is just about the cutest dessert store that I've ever seen! They have fun dispensers of M&Ms with all different color choices and they have a separate party room where you get to play kid games and still get to see what's going on in the main part of the store. In the store itself they have vintage games for kids and also modern takes on games that I haven't seen before. The woman who owns the store is also an engaging and interesting person who works there with her sister and also supports a local bakery that provides their beautiful cakes and cupcakes. Definitely a place to try if you're anywhere around Southwood. It's right in the heart at merchants Row and 4 Oaks Blvd.

In fact, the brand that is used here is Mayfield. I was not impressed at the fact that there are no options for toppings. I literally felt like I paid $4.75 for one small scoop of store bought ice cream in a basic cone.... (waffle cones were $1 extra) I can't knock that the store is very colorful and inviting. It would make any child's day to head here for ice cream and candy. (There is an entire wall full of various candies that can be selected and weighed. I noticed it was $10.95/lb. There are also a few tables where you can sit down and eat and a TV playing kid appropriate shows, but no sound. In my overall opinion, this place is extremely overpriced but cute. It will probably generate good revenue because of the location, but there are much better ice cream shops in town.

Here is where we go for that special occasion. Tonight Carson was our waiter and he has years working here for Drew (Alas absent tonight), Savour's owner. Carson knew the menu cold along with favorite recommendations. Drinks were excellent and they have a great wine list (although the "by the glass" list was pretty short). We elected to split the Wedge salad (trust me it's more than enough for a $3 up charge) and had the Whipped Feta Cheese with Pita to go with the salads. Charcuterie board was not on the menu tonight. Since Christmas is around the corner and a Prime Rib looms, we elected to forgo steaks. Carson described the Scallops and the description matched the dish exactly. Four big scallops with a great sauce mounded on a bed of fresh corn and (sorry I didn't see what else was there). I had the fresh fish (blackened Flounder) in a New Orleans spicy sauce and rice (I'm not doing this justice). Carson advised this was spicy and it was. It was out of this world. A home run by the Chef (please come out some evenings and say hi - and take a bow). Dessert was a Lava cake with ice cream, one of 4 desserts offered tonight. Trust me, if you like gooey chocolate (like having a chocolate soufflé), this was the keeper. Service was impeccable. We missed Drew welcoming his guests but his team has been there a long time and were quick seating us. Carson was everything you could ask for in a waiter. Fully knowledgeable about the food (he started in the kitchen years ago), checked back often, staged the timing perfectly (how rare is that!) and we are sure to ask for him again. A great evening and the rain had stopped by the time we were leaving. Of course we will be back.

A couple of regulars were sat next to us and told us to get the bruschetta oysters, which I'm sure the servers/bartenders will try to sell you on it. But honestly, just listen it's a great dish! The whipped feta was also great, but if I went again I'd get oyster bruschetta. The Wolverine was great, next time I'd love to try the hazelnut espresso martini.
