There's nothing worse than a bagel that claims to be a "sesame" bagel that only has a sad smattering of seeds across one side. This bagel was absolutely loaded up. Crispy on the outside, soft and tender on the inside, loaded with a huge portion of scrambled egg , this breakfast sandwich was enough for two people to share, but we did not! I would literally drive up to Thomasville from Tallahassee again just for the sandwich. You cannot beat their price point. This breakfast would be twice as much in Tallahassee as it is at Empire. Empire has a quaint, local NY bagel shop vibe. You can order bagels for the office or just a sack to take home. I got around to eating it one day before the printed best by date. I opened it and saw it was very runny so I double checked the date and decided to try it anyways. I'm not familiar with cream top yogurt. I did get swayed a bit by the cute cow packaging and bright colors, but the flavor ultimately made me try it. When I tried the yogurt I stirred it a little to mix in the bit of liquid at the top. It was quite runny and when I tasted it, sour! Definitely not edible in my opinion. Funny thing is it smelled fine and quite good actually. You could definitely smell the blueberry and cardamom. I couldn't taste them though. I emailed the company inquiring about how their yogurt should taste and what the texture should be like. I addressed the sour taste and runny texture. Their response was, "When the yogurt is stirred or shaken vigorously it will always turn into a smoothie texture. When we make it, the yogurt has a custard texture but that is easily disrupted due to the lack of stabilizers and gums in the product. Did the lid has cream stuck to the top?" I didn't shake it and I had stirred it gently to mix it. I did email back that I think the lid had a little bit of cream stuck to the top. I know there wasn't anything special worth noting because I hadn't even known it was cream top yogurt when opening it. I didn't get a response after that. I think they were satisfied that there was some semblance of cream on the lid. Who cares if it tasted sour and disgusting. The company does have a good mission statement and business practices from what I read on their website, but I didn't know that going into it. The difference is that during the production of cream top yogurt, the non-homogenized milk has a layer of cream that floats to the top, making it a rich and creamy yogurt known for its luxuriousness and indulgence, as it is much higher in fat content than the trend towards low and non-fat yogurt. The couple who started the company is Kyle and Janelle Wehner; they call themselves the farm boy and the kiwi, because Mrs. Wehner is from New Zealand (how cute is that??). Now, they offer flavors in Vanilla Agave, Regular, Honey and Pear, Maple Ginger, and the Strawberry Pomegranate. I liked them all, but the Regular and Vanilla Agave tasted a bit similar for me. Honey and pear was very mild, I had to find the flavors (still a great flavor though). Strawberry pomegranate was good in a tart way, though a suggestion is to add strawberry chunks to make it even more delicious. The standout for me was the Maple Ginger! I never thought this combination would taste good, but it is almost addicting! The cows are fed grass, so I can definitely taste the difference as well (this is a good thing, as yogurt usually comes from grain-fed cows....that's like feeding cows on a diet of candy. It's not right/sustainable, and is also the reason why grain/corn prices are low for a reason.) My biggest qualm is that the yogurt's consistency isn't its standout point, as the curds are in chunks and there is liquid amidst it all. It's not homogenized milk used, so I can't really blame them. I can definitely see a problem with customers used to Yoplait, though. But the ultimate reason why I give them this rating is for their treatment of their cows. New Zealand is famous for its open, green pastures and rotational farming techniques (you wonder why lamb is best from New Zealand? Yeah. That's it.) as opposed to the American horror stories, and this couple brought that technique to America. They do their best with the best ingredients they can procure as they use organic ingredients, sugar alternatives (agave sweetners), and call calves "our babies". My biggest regret is not being able to tell Peter Singer and Jim Mason of The Ethics of What We Eat: Why Our Food Choices Matter before they published their book. How happy they would be if they were able to come and see this farm!

I wanted to bring my recent first visit and experience to your attention because I know reviews can greatly affect an establishment. My friend and I came to your restaurant around 10:45 Saturday morning. The server took our drink orders, then came back about five minutes later and asked again what we were drinking, then corrected herself, noting what drinks we requested. She came back not too long after with our drinks. We then noted we were ready to order, and she took our orders by memory. I was a bit concerned because she already forgot we had given her our drink orders earlier, but I went with the flow. After about 15-20 minutes, another server came by, placed our ticket on the table, and kept walking. I thought maybe that was placed on our table by mistake, so I looked at it, and sure enough, there was our order. However, the problem was, we had not received our food yet. Within a few minutes, our server came by and asked, "Cash or card?" I replied, "We haven't received our food yet." She looked confused, talked to the other server, and then came back to let us know the kitchen needed the ticket. It was then that it was brought to our attention our server had never put in our food order until that point. No apology was given for the delay either. At this point it was well into lunchtime by the time we received our food. While waiting for our food, a table that had been there before we had received their food, except for a small child there. Usual practice at restaurants is to make sure the child gets their food first, as their patience is lacking, and to prevent others from being disrupted by a potentially unhappy child. The child noticed right away and blurted out, "Where is my food?" Thankfully the child's food came within 7-10 minutes. Once we got our food, it was quite good, but I wanted to bring this to your attention because there are many great brunch and breakfast spots in Thomasville that offer phenomenal service and that competition will make it difficult for you all to keep customers coming back and not venturing to those restaurants. I also see you have been trying to find good help, so instead of blasting a new restaurant online, I wanted to bring it to your attention instead because I like to support local and think you have good food.
