Having searched for a quality chocolate/bake shop for many years I found this fine establishment far exceeded anything that I could have ever imagined. The customer service I received was magnificent, they were very welcoming and helpful, an absolute delight! The very fact that I was spoiled for choice says a lot and it took me quite a while to make up my mind! The chocolate was divine. Just bought our first dozen cupcakes here for our son's birthday dinner...they were outstanding, very different and so pretty. The kind of cupcakes you give as a hostess gift or serve when you need to impress. I can't remember all that we bought, but I do remember chocolate (two types), bubblegum, jersey shore, lemon, and other swirly, pretty colors that we haven't tried yet. I have never been to a cuter sweets shop in my life. I went three times in the one week span of my vacation and loved it each time. It's a little bit pricey (but not insane) and completely worth it. I loved both of my fresh cannolis and the Oreo bon bons were delicious. I just went back on my last day and bought 12 cupcakes to bring back for a family BBQ later in the day and with my purchase of 12 I received 5 dollars off. I'm incredibly excited to try these as well as the saltwater taffy. It's evident that the owners really put a lot of effort into their baking and into their business as a whole. read more

My girlfriend and I decided to walk over and pick up a cupcake last night after dinner. We had never tried Sweet before and we both like to try all the cupcake places in the area. I was happily surprised when I later sat down to eat it. The cupcake was bursting with flavor. It had the just the right amount of flavors and was fluffy. As soon as you walk into the store you get the feel of an old general store. To the right they sell candy and taffy, to the left is a nice selection of nomads chocolates and cupcakes. Although their selection of cupcakes is smaller than other places I have been to, they had a fun of different flavors. I really suggest making a visit to try one of their cupcakes. After trying a sample on the Belmar restaurant tour, it was apparent that Sweet! knows what they're doing so we promptly returned for full cupcakes and they did not disappoint. What Sweet! really has nailed is the icing -- it's a wonderful consistency slightly thicker than buttercream, and it's one of the best icings I've ever had. The cake in the cannoli cupcake was also delicately made, and the overall presentation made it worth the price. To be candid I didn't think the dark chocolate candy was great -- that looked better than it tasted (and I love fine dark chocolate) but the cupcake can definitely be called great and it tasted as good as it looked. I had quite an enjoyable experience at Sweet! while in Belmar earlier this month with my husband. We purchased three cupcakes (strawberry, canoli, and mocha), some Oreo cake bites, and a milkshake. We were going to purchase some fudge, but my husband is a very picky eater and wanted peanut butter fudge without peanuts on top. After hearing this, the owner of the shop (I presume) said he would write it down and try it out because he has a genuine interest in carrying what the customer wants. I found the bakery to carry unique products (a Belmar themed cupcake and chocolate dipped twinkies to name a few), while retaining a charming atmosphere, helpful staff, and a quality experience. I have nothing bad to say other than -- why do I have to live 45 minutes away from there? Ever consider opening a second shop on the other side of Jersey? read more

Have loved Sweet since they first opened. Have gotten cupcakes for events, cakes, candy -- all great. However, my last visit, when they'd reopened after their holiday respite, I was extraordinarily disappointed with my half-dozen cupcakes. The "cake" didn't even fill half of each tin; since there was so little cake there was almost no stuffing; and there was about 5-6 ounces of frosting on each one. They were horrible. We ended up scooping the totally overwhelming frosting into the trash and eating only the two-bite cake layers with barely any stuffing. What a waste of money at $3.50/ea! My hope is that they were just having a bad day but, seriously, what reputable business would serve such a sub-par product? They should have trashed everything and rebaked; or disclosed that they'd under-planned so they stretched their batters that day and charged me half price if I still chose to purchase. It all started when I went in to buy some blue cupcakes for our friends' Super Bowl Party....then green ones for the kids when we all went to the Belmar St. Pat's day parade, then friends of mine had cupcakes and cakepops for their twin boys' Christening...then we moved away. :o( However, we came home for my husband's birthday and I surprised him with a box of Belmar cupcakes (with the Swedish fish on them), as A: they remind us of home and B: they are delightfully delicious. All of their products are delicious and moist. I can't tell if they named their store "Sweet" because of their baked goods or because of the lovely folks that work there, who truly are SWEET. This is my amd my best friend favorite place in the world's place everything they have there is as fresh as can be. There has NEVER been anything there that has not been amazing to eat not to mention the time they put into the presentation of each product from a cupcake to a chocolate covered strawberry and at a very reasonable price and what makes them even better is that will go the extra mile and deliver your order to your house. I don't want to mention names but we used to go to a place in Bradley beach that was supposed to be great but unfortunately they have very young workers at my previous bakery I used to go to who ALWAYS ring you up wrong and the customer ends up paying more for already over priced products where to as sweet in belmar it's all family run and worked by them as well so you get the opportunity of great customer service and they make every one feel very comfortable there. I wish I could recommend something but literally everything there is out of this world. My friend is addicted to pecan pie and how great is it that she can call in the morning and have a fresh pecan pie that is to die for ready the next day if not same day from there customer service to the personal attention they give everyone I can't think of one thing wrong to say about it . And ill leave you with this cause it can't even be explained but they take milkshakes to a whole different world only thing to say is that it should be on everyone's bucket list. .when ever in belmar make it a point to stop in there and I can guarantee once u look at there setup and try something u will be back. I love the cakes, but the customer service and general good business sense is severely lacking at this bakery. On my first encounter, the owner and cake designer were 30 minutes late opening their business on labor day weekend. They offered little apology, and did not offer discounts or restitution as I was waiting for them 30 minutes. Apparently, they live in Freehold and were caught in traffic. I mean it is labor day weekend at the beach, and you did not think traffic would be an issue, really? Keep that in mind if you think you are supporting local residents, because you really are not. On my second encounter, we informed them, that we would pick up a cake after 3PM. They called at 3PM and asked where we were. They were closing at 3pm that day to cater a Sweet Sixteen party, full 5 hours earlier than normal. That sort of killed our day as we were out doing errands in Eatontown and Asbury Park, when we got the call and were threatened to close if we could not be there in 5 minutes. Thankfully, they were still open when I got there at 3:15pm, but it was pretty clear to me, they were not going to wait for me as both people were dressed and the table was overturned for cleaning. Who closes a whole business 5 hours early on a Saturday? They need to get more help and manage their business better. However, I still love the cakes, and will probably order from there again. read more

Not sweet at all! Employees are rude, no customer service at all. Their website advertises that they are open until 10pm on the weekends. I went at 7:30 on a Friday night and although their door was open, the screen door was locked. The lights were all on and there were several employees behind the counter. They just yelled to me that theyre closed. I reminded them of their website but they just said that those hours don't apply for the winter (not stated anywhere online - I had just checked before going). They wouldn't open the door and let me buy anything. Would NOT recommend!!!! read more
