To get the only negative out of the way, this spot hurt my Canadian bank account a little bit. However, this tiny little shop was such a pleasant stop during our walk through town. Not only is it cute inside and out, the sweets are laid out beautifully and the customer service was spot on! I mean that whole heartedly, the man working was so patient with our indecisiveness and helpful with all our questions. They have unique chocolates and truffles such as root beer, cheesecake and tiramisu. My favourites however, were the Czech toffee and gooey homemade pecan turtles! read more

Wow. This place is amazing, not only are the chocolates absolutely delicious the staff is so friendly, helpful, and kind. As many reviews stated the Czech toffee is phenomenal. I had a sample and immediately wanted more. When I got home I took a bite of the tiramisu truffle and immediately whipped my phone out to write this review, it's rich, sweet, beautifully flavored. This place is a real treat. If you're looking for homemade chocolates to give to someone you love (including yourself) this place is worth every penny. Don't forget the quality and the fact it's a small business goes into the price, this isn't Hersheys and you can tell! How is it possible that there isn't already a review about this delicious candy shop? My only conclusion is that everyone is too busy stuffing their face with Sweet Art's delicious chocolates to come up for air long enough to do anything else. Sweet Art is owned by a lovely Bellingham couple. He makes candy. She paints pictures. And boy howdy, is his candy is good. Last weekend I found myself outside the shop around 5 PM on Saturday. They close at 4 so I was pretty bummed out. Then my friend noticed he was still inside, so I pressed my face up against the glass in the hopes that he would take pity and let me inside. He did! After the free samples, I bought a huge hunk of the best fudge you've ever tasted, a gigantic dark chocolate truffle and something called a rootbeer float. That rootbeer float white chocolate truffle blew my mind. So creamy and scrumptious. So delectable and divine. A real life Willy Wonka. I felt a bit like Veruca Salt. Don't come here for pretty packaging of the deliciousness. It's adequate with a simple, plain white box. There's no ribbon or fancy paper. No special gift tags or wrapping paper. It really is all about the candy. This can be a great gift to give someone but don't expect the packaging to wow anyone. The wows get saved for the flavor. Every time I visit Bellingham I try to make it to this shop. Of course, a lot of times I end up standing outside making a puppy dog face and miserable because they're closed and no one's there to let me in. So, make a note! They're only open 11-4 on Saturday and closed on Sunday. Next time I make it there, I'm buying some of that chocolate drenched homemade honeycomb I spied in a giant jar on my way out. I've been meaning to go here for quite awhile but never managed to be there during open hours. Right now I'm on a limited ingredient diet and I was craving something sweet. I was tired if bitter dark chocolate but knew my options were going to be limited. What I was not expecting was how incredibly helpful the woman behind the counter was. She went out of her way to make sure there was nothing in the items we chose that were on my off limits list. It is a tiny little hole in the wall ... but the biggest taste of chocolate anywhere that we've been to in Bellingham. They had Salty Dog Confections, Sugars skulls, and a Czech chocolate and nuts confection that was handed down from the owner's grandmother. Huge Turtles. There is a lot of beautiful artwork that the owner's wife has painted. They are all for sale. The owner takes pride in hand-making his chocolates and his confections. He said that even though he is a chocolatier, he prefers to be simply called a "candy maker". Lots of great conversation with the owner. He started out in Laguna Beach. Best Chocolate I have ever had. It is harder to say more than that. It has always been fresh and I can't help but be in love with it. The carmellos are one of my favorites, but I have literally tasted nothing here that I didn't like. It's a little expensive, but you get what you pay for here. The store is awesome itself. It is owned by a husband and wife: he makes the chocolate and she makes the beautiful art that adorns the walls. It is a very beautiful and inviting little shop. I purchased a painting and chocolates for my wife as her wedding gift from me. And when I went in there to pick the piece up the gentleman (who is in all honesty a little gruff and grumpy) gave me 15 minutes of marriage advice! The lady also does pet portraits which we are planning on having done for our cat at some point. Don't put it off any longer, go downtown and enjoy some great chocolate from a very charming couple. read more

This place is a gem! This is one of my favorite chocolate shops in Bellingham (it's tied with five stars with Chocolate Necessities). I love the giant truffles with creative names as well as the art that decorates the walls. I am a sucker for the style of art that is displayed in this shop and they sell chocolate... what more could you ask for?! The other neat thing about this shop is that you can find them at the Bellingham Farmers Market (not always, but frequently enough) where they sell amazing macaroons. It's been a couple years but last time I saw them at the farmers market they were raffling chocolate goats! I really love this place. I enjoyed talking with the owners whenever I came in and delighted in buying chocolates for my family when I came home to visit. It is a great place for gifts for others, or even just yourself. The most fantastic chocolate that we have had in a long time. "Czech Toffee" was so good! Dark chocolate with hazelnuts is the difference between this and English toffee. So tender and perfect! This is a long overdue review. Hands down some of the best chocolate confections EVER. Handmade in store their caramel is the best I've ever had globally. Truffles, toffee, all your favorites are here. Their Easter chocolate Joey bunnies have become an annual tradition still for our now adult children. This little shop is fantastic! I always go here when I am in the Bellingham area. The handcrafted chocolates are to die for. Everything that I have tasted here I have loved! My favorite thing that they make is the white chocolate turtle with cashews instead of pecans. They don't have them year round, usually only around Easter. This mom and pop shop has got it going on...he whips up the chocolates and she creates a beautiful environment to choose them in. It's all for sale and it's all very worth it. I wouldn't say that this is the best chocolate I have ever tried. I could detect no trace of hazelnuts in the hazelnut truffles. The caramel in the caramel bars was mostly sweet and without much caramel flavor. The shell chocolate around the truffles and bars seemed coarse. Probably won't return. read more

This is the best chocolate I've ever had, and I've tried my fair share of boutique chocolates! My husband and I were checking out all the different shops in downtown Bellingham and tried the other chocolate shop on Cornwall, their chocolates were okay but not worth the price. I later walked by this shop but it was closed so I decided to come back the next day to check it out. I bought a few dark chocolates for myself and a milk chocolate for my husband.
