You never know what you will find in there... from unique takes on practical items so hilarious joke items, a huge variety of cards, wrapping paper, fudge, chocolate what's not to love? It is a bit pricey. If you are visiting Fairhaven, you must stop by, conveniently located next door to the best bookstore in Bellingham, Village Books (and connected to Village Books internally as well). read more

Super collection of humorous ephemera, bric a brac, clothing, jewelry, kitchen and home furnishings, stationary, cards, wrapping paper, accessories, chocolates, and handmade fudge. Wandered into this shop while we were exploring Fairhaven. Lots of cute and functional kitchen accessories and utensils! And it's got the bookstore right there too. Found some curious and interesting reading that I haven't seen available at other bookstores. Spent a lot more money than I intended but it was totally worth it! This store is just dangerous. Adjacent to Village books, you are drawn in by the colorful window displays and promise of what lies inside. I am never able to walk away without finding something that I must take home. Either a cute gift for a friend, a kitchen doo-dad or a yummy piece of chocolate makes its way into my hands and out the door. There is so much to see in this compact space. Cookbooks, cute socks, fragrant soaps, cards, books, stationary, jewelry, candles, hats...you name it, you can probably find it here. Being next door to a cool bookshop is like a one two punch for your wallet, but well worth it. read more

I love Paper Dreams for having unique versions of everyday items. Today I particularly admired their selection of bags and "alternative" purses. The selection of all kinds of gizmos, jewelry, kitchen utensils, etc. are stupendous. I can't resist the fresh homemade candy right by the front entrance...best fudges in town! read more

I always find myself wandering through this cute little store after a visit to Village Books or neighboring Colophon Cafe. After sampling some of their famous fudge at the front of the store, browse their vast stocks of unique and quirky gifts, decorations, local souvenirs. and so much more. I have made a few purchases here- beautiful knitted gloves, notebooks, chocolate, of course! Overpriced on their stationary items. Yes, huge card selection but I buy mine at $$$ store. **Update 4/14/2015** This is still one of my favorite stores in Bellingham, along with Village Books (to which it is connected). What a fabulous store! They have a humongous collection of unique greeting cards, most of which I have never seen before (and I check out lots of card stores, as I love them!). And tons of gift items. I never cease to find the perfect gift and card for any occasion, for any recipient. Their gift items range from novelty gifts to more sophisticated fare. I like hearing people chuckle or outright laugh aloud around the displays as they stumble upon some funny novelty item or nostalgic toy, and reminisce about their youth (as I do when I see toys from my youth). You can find the perfect hostess gift here for anyone. There are beautiful home accessories and décor items, candles, small plates and platters, travel gifts, kitchen items, wine items, a "man cave" area with more masculine fare, socks with risqué sayings on the soles, journals and gorgeous wrapping papers and pens, artisan-made jewelry, stationery and invitations... something for everyone. And the candies! By the cash and the front door, you'll find the "penny candies" of your childhood memories (although they aren't for pennies anymore, that's for sure! LOL). Candy necklaces, button candies, real jaw-breakers... And there are the gourmet chocolate bars that are so in vogue nowadays, and homemade fudges, and oh, the caramels. How we love the caramels! I love that you can wander in through the kitchen store (next door) then wander through paper dreams, and then to village books - when its cold and snowing here its a plus when you can do that all inside. I also love that you can test out their lotions, they all smell amazing. Downside - its kind of expensive for cards and gifts. Good place to go for after holiday decoration sales though! read more

As long as I can remember, I've stopped into Paper Dreams any time I was in Fairhaven. When I moved a few states away, it was one of the stores I missed the most; with its wide selection of gifts! I'm always looking to give unique and fun gifts to friends and family, so paper dreams hits the spot in that regard. I love the silly toys and fun items in the front, the journals and pretty wrapping paper in the back, and they make fudge in store! I seem to just go to paper dreams for free stuff. They do free gift wrapping of books purchased next door at village books. They also usually have free samples of their great fudge. Sometimes I duck into paper dreams just to get a quick sugar fix. read more

I don't know about you, but when I walk up to a counter that is not self serve it usually means I would like some help or need assistance. Yesterday in this store two clerks with their backs to the store acted as if it was an inconvenience to help my husband and me. One finally turned and abruptly asked if we needed something. Now to me that is an unnecessary question, of course we needed something otherwise we wouldn't be standing at the counter. In a day when customer service is lacking I would think a business such as this would step up and go beyond, instead they are sorely lacking. read more

My wife and live in Bellingham for the summer months. We stop in at Paper Dreams from time to time to purchase gifts for ourselves and friends. Today, my wife stopped in to purchase an item that she had bought before. The sign at the top of the rack stated the prices and the item my wife liked was $10.99 for the 8 inch item. She brought it over to the register and it scanned at $11.99. My wife asked to speak to a manager to straighten out the problem. The girl at the register said there was no manager available on Sunday and went over to the rack, took down the sign and ripped it up. She said she could only sell at the scanned price. It takes a long to acquire a customer and only a few seconds to lose one forever. We did not purchase the item and will no longer shop here. read more

Used to be much much better when the last manager/buyer was there. They had a much better selection, more interesting stock and the morale was great. Not so much any more. Like Village Books, really need to work on their customer service. People are starting to be smarter about how they spend their money and being polite to your customers would seem to be a no brain-er. They do have a great journal selection and the location is wonderful. read more
