This was kind of like what was in the window when I visited; only theirs was even more adorable.

This is the newest, cutest toy store in Bellingham. Just as a testament to their cuteness, there latest window display consisted of fabric and wooden elves in a wooden house! You must walk by and take a look. Great selection of wooden and educational toys, from Haba to Magic Cabin fairies. Extra plus for crafters: they sell roving for all of your needle felting projects by the ounce. I didn't know that anyone did that!

On a recent walk through downtown and the "new" arts district, I was surprised to see a familiar…read moreshop still open (every day in fact) in these weird times. Charming place for all sorts of gift items, and much of it local. Hand-crafted jewelry, cards, costume hats and caps with animals and birds on them (I bought one with the Bellingham flag embossed on it), and what seemed like hundreds of lovely scarves (bought two red ones) and terrific T-shirts, as well as many games and toys found in shelves stuffed floor to ceiling. Lots of Mexican and Haitian wall hangings, too. Quietly sitting in the corner was Jackie who was so quiet we didn't know she was there until we asked a question, and who allowed us to browse in the very small space of the store. Great place to rediscover (if you didn't know it before) and perfect for special gifts for the season.

Really like their selection of quality and creative greeting cards. Their selection of scarves and hats is interesting (in a good way). They have spiritual items, native items, seasonal items, jewelry, wearable art, handbags, bells, wall hangings ... all affordable and WAY too much to list here. I walked in after seeing a greeting card in the window and ended up purchasing a handful of greeting cards and a hat and have become a return and referring customer. Will does a good job of selecting interesting and creative offerings and it just feels good to shop here. The location is safe, easily accessible and there's plenty of parking.

Things that are hard to find elsewhere in town nowadays..it only took 5 minutes to find three different items to choose from! I was able To use my coupon which helped nicely! I will definitely go back! Don't tell my grandson but probably many of his gifts will come from here!

So we headed to Launching Success and wow, did we have fun. I hadn't been to LS for several years - but was thrilled to find they still carry the same, high quality games, toys, books, supplies and other things to support homeschooling and home learning. Our first stop was at their fidget toy display, where my daughter picked out a couple of nice things to "play" with and help keep her focused during her days of Zoom classes. Next, we checked out some of their awesome art materials before heading to what I call the "teacher zone". This area of the store is FULL of all that cool stuff you see around your kid's classroom and you wonder where they got it. Well, they probably got it here! From posters to banners to you-name-it this room almost inspired me to return to college for my teaching certificate. (Hey, I said ALMOST.) While many of the items in this area are geared towards real classroom use (like signs about rules, or birthday lists) we found a couple of inspiring signs to put up around my teen's desk, as well as some organizational bins for pens and other supplies. Launching Success would also be an excellent place to buy high quality gifts for holidays or birthdays - they have a huge variety of games for all ages, and their prices are very competitive.

I love books and bookstores were my refuge growing up. I could stay in the bookstore for ages,…read morebrowsing and reading. When the cafe in bookstore culture caught on, I spent even more hours in the bookstore. Then e-books happened and the pandemic. Cafes closed in most bookstores and many bookstores also died a slow death. I was pleasantly surprised to see a cafe (x Starbucks) here. And besides books, B&N also stocks games, religious texts (eg bibles which I hardly see in most bookstores in Vancouver now), driving maps and atlas (also an unicorn in Vancouver). There are also some lifestyle products and something for the audiophiles. Records and turntables. No more CDs. While there are no comfy armchairs scattered around like in the old days, you can still buy a book and read it at the cafe. I got a $1 coupon to use at the cafe when I purchased stuff and promptly used it. Quite a good cross promotion. Big parking lot out front.

There is a wide variety of books in each genre and they even have some special editions (sprayed edges, author sign, etc). It is a little on the pricey side but an average sized chapter book is 13-23 dollar depending on size and popularity. The cafe is perfect for doing homework or if you just need a place to get out and read! Anyone who works at this Barnes and Nobel is always helpful, kind, and quite knowledgeable when it comes to books. Overall a great place!
