If something good makes you happy, go for it! That said, when my partner and I were wandering around Fairhaven recently, he spotted Fairhaven Toy Garden and said with enthusiasm, "Let's go!" I kinda pulled away. "Really!?!?" I probably rolled my eyes. But I love him and like to indulge him and make him happy. OMG! Well, I am just going to have to get over my ridiculous stuffed animal inhibition, because now I have a house-full. I follow my partner inside and lo! He points a lop-eared rabbit puppet at me which is so life-like that, despite my brain saying it isn't real, my hand naturally reaches out to pet it. (I'm sure it was a sneaky ploy on his part to get some petting himself.) I was awestruck. One gift to me later (I have a very sweet man, but we now have to surmise that there is a wee bit of calculation in him), and I'm buying up half the store. I cannot comment much about the store as a whole as they very wisely put all their plush friends right smack-dab in the entry so that you cannot move for at least two hours as you explore and play with them all. I was very impressed with their offerings of Folkmanis puppets and Wild Republic and Ecokins stuffed animals--beautiful! My long-limbed vervet monkey now hangs from the pantry knob where I keep my pet food and where it can protect it from my very real cat who, otherwise, continually claws at the door to open it. Having accomplished that, I now have a little raccoon friend, made from recycled plastic water bottles (you'd never guess this!), to hang out atop my delicate printer so said real cat will no longer jump up on it, risking its destruction in seeking a shorter leap to my window sill. Fun, charming and practical too. Who knew?!?! The staff were wonderful, at the ready to help and smiling the whole while, watching us with amusement. (They probably have some of the happiest jobs in the world.) Highly recommended, and see if you can get past the animals to see what other delights might be inside.

Charming place for all sorts of gift items, and much of it local. Hand-crafted jewelry, cards, costume hats and caps with animals and birds on them (I bought one with the Bellingham flag embossed on it), and what seemed like hundreds of lovely scarves (bought two red ones) and terrific T-shirts, as well as many games and toys found in shelves stuffed floor to ceiling. Lots of Mexican and Haitian wall hangings, too. Quietly sitting in the corner was Jackie who was so quiet we didn't know she was there until we asked a question, and who allowed us to browse in the very small space of the store. Great place to rediscover (if you didn't know it before) and perfect for special gifts for the season.

Jackets, gear, "ooh look at this" items, suddenly it was less holiday shopping and more Yeagers-sponsored shopping spree for him. And honestly? I'm not mad about it. Because now I know exactly what Santa is bringing him (Great job, Santa. Nailed it.) We did successfully shop for the people we came in for...one lucky person is getting a Yeagers gift card (which honestly feels like a win for everyone). I also found the cutest raincoat ever, cowboys, cows, and horses, plus matching rain boots, BOTH marked down. I mean come on. Instant joy. Yeagers has an amazing selection of high-quality, top-tier outdoor clothing brands, a massive toy section, a great shoe department, and just so many things you didn't know you needed until you see them. They've managed to assemble all the gag gifts (and some really nice ones too) under one roof. Be prepared to spend a lot of money here. But still, take into consideration that you are in a historical town and you don't have to look further than a few steps for everything zany (and not so zany). When the cafe in bookstore culture caught on, I spent even more hours in the bookstore. Then e-books happened and the pandemic. Cafes closed in most bookstores and many bookstores also died a slow death. I was pleasantly surprised to see a cafe (x Starbucks) here. And besides books, B&N also stocks games, religious texts (eg bibles which I hardly see in most bookstores in Vancouver now), driving maps and atlas (also an unicorn in Vancouver). There are also some lifestyle products and something for the audiophiles. Records and turntables. No more CDs. While there are no comfy armchairs scattered around like in the old days, you can still buy a book and read it at the cafe. I got a $1 coupon to use at the cafe when I purchased stuff and promptly used it. Quite a good cross promotion. Big parking lot out front.

If you want to read more about them, details are given below. PROS +Pick-up: It so easy and quick to pick up your order. There's no time slot to reserve. All you have to do is let them know when you leave home using the app. They follow you using GPS and meet you on the store parking lot. +Refrigerated food has been added to their pick-up services (in store and curbside). +No minimum purchase (if I'm not mistaken) +Long store hours CONS -App only: Drive-up pickup is only available on the app. -Excluded items: There are quite a few things that are not available for pickup, such as alcohol and things that people panic buy, such as toilet paper. RE: App -I like doing online shopping on my computer, but drive-up pickup is only available on the app. You could use your computer to put things in the cart and purchase them on the app, but you would have to change the pickup method to drive-up on the app. You need to do this one item at a time! RE: Special Offers They are very clear but not all special offers are available for Target pickup. Conclusions Because what I can pick up from Target is limited, I still have to stop at other places like Whole Foods.
