It needed a left-side gas hookup, which a handyman had tried to install but couldn't. He also corrected another fireplace insert the handyman had done incorrectly (which would have blackened my exterior fireplace with soot if left uncorrected). I've used his company to clean my chimney before and knew him to be respectful and helpful so I believed him and accepted his apology. He's a down to earth person. We had a chimney fire and for my families' safety we needed it done right. We had neglected it. He came in, very professional, cleaned the chimney flue and cap. Despite being very busy Daniel was able to find some time to come, inspect both our fire place and wood burn stove and bring all the materials to perform the job. He was not only very competent, but took all the time to explain us what he did and how to best use both places with safety. There aren't any previous reviews for Sweep's Luck, but I came across them from an ad in the Buy-1-Get-1-free mailer. They are BBB A+ rated. They are also licensed chimney sweeps (check our their licenses & certifications on the website), which not all chimney sweeps are. So I took a chance, and I'm so glad I did. The best thing about this company is their level of customer care and soft skills. Daniel came out to my condo, and the first impression is that he's a really nice guy. He's super friendly (which, as we can imagine, does not apply for many contractors in general out there), and talked about family and our kids for a couple minutes as he got all his stuff set up. He's not just some worker bee who does the bare minimum, but rather, he's a friendly guy who I can trust with servicing something in my home. (I just looked him up and found out that he's actually the owner.) He performed an inspection and cleaned our fireplace, which had a good deal of build-up in it. We are a shoes-off family, and he put on booties before even stepping into our home, and laid down plenty of mats to prevent any dirtiness during the cleaning. The vacuum wasn't much louder than any normal vacuum cleaner, and the actual cleaning took about half hour. He was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain his findings to me. At the end of the hour+ visit, he didn't even seem in a rush to jet out of there, but patiently answered all of our many questions. I would highly recommend this company. After living in our home for nearly 5 years and not using our gas fireplace, we felt that it was better to have it checked out prior to lighting it up. The old adage "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" came to mind. So, we took the advice of previous reviews and ask Sweep's Luck (Daniel) to come to inspect and clean. This was well worth the investment. Daniel communicated well, let us know when he was on the way, arrived on time and did quality work at a reasonable price (what else could you ask for)! Right away, he recognized the model of our fireplace and that we had the wrong type of log set for our indoor fireplace. After removing everything from within the firebox, he inspected the condition, brought our older gas log burner up to code with new gas line connector, cleaned and vacuumed everything, cleaned the glass, reinstalled the proper amount of logs to reduce the amount of flame that would protrude beyond the firebox and not up the flue then dress it all up with new rock, sand and rock wool (glowing ambers). Basically it looks brand new. Once the test was complete, Daniel answered all my questions and I now feel very confident that the fireplace will operate as designed for years to come!
