Sweaty Betty reminds me of lululemon. Actually, I googled lululemon for spelling purposes and they're way more expensive than Sweaty Betty so I kind of take that back.
Anyway. In the age of yoga, pilates, and tights as pants (I can't call tights trousers, it's just wrong), places where you can buy posh stretchy clothes are popping up all over.
If ever there is a time when it's completely legit to wear leggings as pants, it's pregnancy. But, I don't want to be one of those girls whose patterned underpants you can see through her leggings because the lighting in the store wasn't good enough when she was shopping. So, I came to Sweaty Betty.
I thought, all stretchy pants are made equal, right?
Apparently not.
When loaded up with different types of expensive stretchy pants, I was approached by a sales associate who asked if I needed help. I said something like "pretty much any stretchy pants would be ok for pregnancy, right?" She said actually, no.
She told me that the seam that is often in the top of normal leggings would become restrictive as I grew and suggested their seamless range, advising that they had a manager recently go off on mat leave who wore these through all of her pregnancy.
I never thought of the seam and I'm SO glad I asked.
I tried the seamless option she brought me and thought they were brilliant. What made them even better was that they were a) cheaper than what I'd been looking at previously and b) on sale too.
When paying, I learned that those who get the Sweaty Betty card (free) can also sign up to their (again free) weekly yoga or pilates class which is offered in store. WHAAT, free?? These classes normally run at £8+ a pop so this is a great deal.
I knocked off one star because I liked a few of the tops but the colours were *really* bright/in your face and I was surprised that they didn't have any other toned down options. read more
