Love Primark, especially and specifically their international locations. This one in Edinburgh reminded me a lot of the Amsterdam store. It's spacious and bustling with multiple floors (women/men/children). There's a plethora of options to shop from clothes and shoes to accessories and fragrances. It was difficult to find an employee to ask questions as they easily blended in with shoppers. There was also a self check-out section, which I appreciated being able to bypass the long lines for time's sake and only a few items to purchase. I would stop in again without hesitation whenever I visit the area again. read more

My carry on bag broke on the way over here and that brought me to this store which was close to my hotel. It's a meh store, looks like a low end department store. There were merchandise strewn around and the luggage selection was quite limited. I did end up picking up a bag because I was not about to go looking for another store. read more

I walked into primark at this location and they had some lovely pieces but not that many plus size options which I found a bit annoying so I unfortunately couldn't get to much. one thing I did get was the gum , because I like food which is the reason why I'm plus size,and the gum was really bad quality. would not recommend (especially strawberry one).I used the disabled bath room since I don't fit into the women's lavotories, it has droppings(poo) on the wall smeared and STUNK!! I have to say I enjoy coming to this store and I have been few of the fortunate to never have experienced the mayhem. I remember one of my Edinburgh friend's loathed the fact there was no Primark in Edinburgh and every time she came through to see me, we headed straight to Primark from Glasgow Queen Street Station. Haha!! To be honest I never did mind this at all. Good times! So when, at last, Edinburgh had there very own Primark, it was a little bit of heaven. The first time I visited was when I was staying in Edinburgh and I had completely forgot my night clothes. Doh! What to do?! I went on Yelp for help, of course, and there, opening at 8.30am, it was the delights of Primark. Yay! This was my chance when out for my breakfast I could swing by and pick up some jammies and cosy slippers. I tell you it's definitely the best time to shop, it was dead. I had the whole shop to myself. I was just gutted I didn't have long as I was off to work not long after. Each time Angela B. and myself have been in Edinburgh we have a NEED to stop by. Angela said she thinks the stock is a little better/different from the Glasgow stores. She knows her Primark stock, I swear she lives in Primark sometimes. Hehe!! Every visit, it's been fine and not too busy. We must just pick good days and times and it's been a fun and a good experience. There's plenty of mirrors on the shop's floors and we've been able to try on some of our precious finds. It's affordable and we can spend quite a bit of time in there, lost in ladies lovelies, dresses and coats. The scene from Father Ted did pop into my head while we wandered through the bras. Hehe!! I've always heard so many good things about Primark and I finally got to see what all the fuss was about! The clothing is indeed very cheap and plentiful. I didn't really need anything and my luggage was too small to carry anything over what I already had so I sadly had to leave with nothing. But it's such a cool store! They have tons of cool sections with Harry Potter, Friends, etc merchandise. It's amazing :D read more

Excellent, reasonably priced department store with everything you could think of for the family's needs! Cute, up to date seasonal merchandise, fast checkout with friendly personnel and cashier! I got a pair of unicorn fuzzy gloves (f$3!) and "Minecraft" logo shirts (f$6!) for the grand girls- kind of reminds me of an upscale, fuller stocked "Target" back in the USA! read more

Ah, Primark. Edinburgh's local hellhole. I usually shop here with glee but my past few visits to this branch have changed my opinions. Firstly, when you walk in, the entryway can get very crowded, you can barely move and there is basically no personal space due to all the prams, trolleys on wheels and utter chaos everywhere. The menswear department is in a very inconvenient location, in the cramped and claustrophobic basement. Only about 1/3 of the floor is actually taken up by menswear because apparently we don't need clothes and the other 2/3 of the floor is the shoe department, which never has anything I like. I always hate the clothes that they stock in this store anyway and only come in here if New Look, H&M and Topman don't have what I need. The new store at Fort Kinnaird is the complete opposite of this one and is spacious, bright and a large chunk of the sales floor is actually taken up by men's clothing. Another thing I hate about this store is the weird layout. Knowing Edinburgh's architecture, you will know it is strange but for some reason, the building has been split into 2 sides, a Princes Street side and a Rose Street side which just confuses the hell out of me. And lastly, whose stupid idea was it to put kids clothing on the top floor? That means that there is often a huge queue for the lifts, which are very very slow. A 4 Story Primark... ya its huge and a bit overwhelming! But also has loads of choices ! 2 floors of women and accessories/ sleepware/ workout/ underwear . Then a whole floor for children... there is so much minion stuff you'd think they had stock in the movie! haha . Poor men only get one floor! But Its still a huge floor. There is a home section that I only know how to get to from the back entrance. Its kind of a mystery when I enter from the back and then leave from the front because There is a wall that divides that section out, but there are stairs and one of the elevators... I don't know its confusing, just ask someone that works there is you want the home section, or enter from the back. The only think I really hate is that the escalators you have to cross the floor to get to the next one to go to the next level. And if its crowded its horrible! So done go on a busy day too many prams and too many people! ha read more

This place is terrifying. I feel like, if ever there was a zombie apocalypse, the folks that frequent Primark are bound to have the upper hand. From ducking crazed humans to maneuvering tight spaces, under harsh conditions (florescent lighting counts) - it's the best apocalypse 101 course a person could ask for... Needless to say, when brain thirsty monsters take over the world, i'm toast. I lasted all of 15 minutes in this place, most of which was spent standing in the middle of racks looking exceptionally overwhelmed. I'm not a big box shopper - I prefer my "should go to a department store type establishment" shopping to be done online to avoid places like this. It's huge, it's busy and you can buy pretty much anything for under $15. That alone tends to terrify me about joints like this - how anyone can sell a winter jacket for $12 is beyond me. But if you can stomach the bright lights and badly constructed crop tops and acid washed jeans (when did the 90's come back?!), this place, like others of its kind, is pretty decent for the staples. In all my huffing, puffing and general distaste for the whole experience, I did manage to make it out with about 10 pairs of tights and a cheapo pair of flats. All which came out to a hilariously minimal total of $21. So if your seeking survival tips and a new scarf - maybe venture in here. But plan a spot for a quiet tea and meditation afterwards. I love Primark. So much. I mean...I can't even begin to tell you... For years everything I wore/owned came from this shop, well, the Irish equivalent anyway and I seriously considered not moving to Edinburgh because there was none nearby. By seriously I mean not really, but I'm trying to stress a point through exaggeration so don't knit pick. I was so excited when I heard Primark would open in Edinburgh, followed by disappointment when I finally managed to check it out. Everything's too close together. The clothes aren't the same as the ones that are in the Dublin shops. The people don't move right. I can't find anything. It's too crowded. The escalators annoy me, making me walk alllll the way around. I may be judging it harshly, but Primark is very dear to my heart you see. Very dear. And I feel this shop just doesn't live up to the greatness that shines from other branches. read more

Standing at the entrance I ponder why do I enter into this shop? Oh yeah, I was looking for some cheap [insert: clothing item]. They ask £3 for denim jeans, £1 for 3 pairs of socks, £8 for a coat - all new. How do they do that? How indeed, they are more often than not in the news, being it about copying catwalk designs or cheap labour. I am not shy of a bargain and I am certainly not one to turn down a cheap option for an everyday item or perhaps a one-off for an 'ugly jumper' party. I always feel very self conscious when stepping through their front doors. Especially when I am wearing clearly expensive clothing brands, like Abercrombie, Superdry, Ralph Lauren etc.. I feel it somehow cheapens what I wear when I am walking through in Primark. Honestly, I wouldn't normally give a whatsit, what people think of what I wear, as whatever I wear I wear it well. However stepping into a Primark and everything you wear and carry is suddenly devalued by a good 80-90%. Why is that?! I don't know, I am still try to figure that one out. This being the main reason I don't really like shopping there, I don't like it that my own clothing is becoming as cheap as those on offer. Superficial? Yes. Also I like to own clothing that is of quality and durable. The few items I did buy here like vests and underwear, have not been up to standard. After a couple of months of wear and washes, in most of those items holes appeared and colours faded. I didn't mind as much as they were dirt cheap. However I don't really want to own too many consumables like that as apparel, I want to own a nice piece of clothing that I can wear for years to come. I want to invest in a piece of clothing and be proud wearing it. Shopping in Primark makes me feel I am cheating myself from something nice and worthwhile. Still 3 Stars as they clearly fill that gap in the market, that one cavity between pound stores and charity shops has now been filled. Well done. read more

I love this place. Only if I go first thing in the morning on a weekday and I know exactly what I'm after and where to get it. At any other time, I feel my blood pressure rising and my need to flee outweighs my want to get a bargain. Really, if you can, go during a quiet time. There is a large selection of clothing and if you really want to browse, you can do so when its quiet. I just came back from shopping here on a Saturday afternoon (ONLY because I was offered a job interview for Monday and was advised of this at 4.30pm on a Friday) and it was INSANE!! I could barely move, the place was chaos, and my usual 'I'll just browse until I'm ready to get a coffee' attitude did not come through the door with me. I just grabbed a bunch of professional looking clothes and bought them. Overall, I'm a huge fan that Primark is cheap. I won't say it's great quality because I don't think it is, but if you're one of those people who likes to wear their clothes for a short time before donating them, or don't mind if they last a few months before falling apart, then this is the perfect place to go! read more

We popped in recently to pick up some oops-we-forgot-to-pack warm pajamas for Christmas and were pleasantly surprised to see how well staffed the store was. My first time ever in a Primark. Dazzled. I was dazzled. All this stuff for way cheaper than I could ever get it at home. Since I was carrying a backpack for traveling, I hesitated to buy anything because I didn't have a lot of leeway space and wanted to save it for souvenirs for people. Screw it. I decided to just start hucking things in le garbage because I needed to buy stuff here. I don't envision these things being forever items, but there are just so many things here that I needed to buy. On this particular visit, since it was a Monday, there was a hardly anyone in here. We were able to wander freely, swinging our arms looking for bargains. Undies for one pound... scarves for three. I bought two pairs of summer flats, fabric with eyelets all over, for five pounds a pair. I also got my favourite style of eyelash curler in the desperation aisle (the one leading to the cash that they make you pass through) along with a mug for my hubby shaped like a camera lens. Who buys crap like that? Me. It was three pounds, down from fifteen. I restrained myself. My friends ended up buying a ton of what they called essentials. I would have bought an animal onesie had I deemed it an essential. Where else can you get one of those when it's not Halloween. No where I know, that's for sure. We didn't have to wait at all in the desperation aisle. In and out of there so fast. read more

This store was well organized and clean. I was at the Oxford Sreet Primark in London & by comparison the Edinburgh store appeared new and cleaner. I love this store because the prices are amazing. I bought my luggage here after running out of space from the luggage I came with. Price was the cheapest I seen in my travels in the UK. Great quality priced products. For me Primark is the place where I go for tights. You know those fleece-lined ones you can't find anywhere else. Yep. And other coloured tights too (you get it, I'm a tights freak. I have, like, loads of them!). I buy socks too. They had great tick ones in the winter. Perfect for your wellies. I have desperately tried to buy other stuff in Primark but no. The fitting is just wrong, you have to try 3 different sizes before finding something that suits you. And the shop itself, oh my. That place is simply awful. Dreadful lighting. Overheated. Very overheated. I feel like I'm in hell every time I'm in there. And the queues at the till. Shoot. Me. Now. I simply had to review Primark after what I have seen there recently... A spectacular range of onesies and Christmas jumpers! I know the clothes sometimes aren't great quality, I know it is a nightmare to be in there for more than 30 seconds. But if you decide before what you want/need then you can dive in, buy it, and get straight out of there. But be careful on choosing your time, sometimes the queues to purchase can be horrendous. So anyway, currently they have a fab selection of knitwear, including Xmas jumpers (and leggings). The girls jumpers include Santa, reindeer, fair isle and penguin designs. But what really caught my eye were the guys Xmas jumpers. You can see them in the window and they are basically 3D, the snowman's nose literally sticks out from your tummy! So, long story short, I'm off to Primark today to buy a man's Xmas jumpers for myself! :) Enjoy! read more

I'd never been in a Primark before today. But, I was walking by and I figured there was no harm in taking a peek.... ... getting over the fact that the clothing isn't really my style, I found a few aspects of the store pretty shocking. First of all, the massive bouncer at the door isn't exactly the best first impression of an establishment. Do people really steal that much stuff from Primark that they need a big scary looking bouncer on a Tuesday afternoon??? Secondly, the fitting rooms. Whoever designed that system was an idiot. As I said, it was a Tuesday afternoon and there was a queue for the fitting rooms. Not that they were all full, mind you, there were plenty of free rooms, but the one girl manning them has to register how many items you are taking into the dressing rooms - it's some weird electronic system where she puts in that big plastic thing that says how many items you have. Then when you're done, you have to wait for her to help other people and then re-scan your big plastic thing. Additionally, many people have baskets of items they're not taking into the dressing rooms with them, and those baskets must be dealt with by the one girl who is also scanning everyone into their dressing rooms. It is absolutely the most ridiculous system I have ever seen in my life. Even on a slow afternoon, one person is far from adequate for dealing with a dressing room! I shudder to consider how awful it must be during the weekend. Theft must be a MASSIVE problem here to warrant all of this ridiculousness. My verdict - Primark? Not worth the effort. read more

Primark is my idea of a nightmare at the best of times, but this store has an upper hand in freaking me out. Its harsh, confusing and the staff look immensely fed up (who could blame them)Plus I really like I like using my legs, but the stairs make me feel like I'm in a horrible labyrinth. As such I end up taking the lift, braving the disappointed look in the old ladies and mothers with prams. Haven't got much spare cash but want to re-vamp your wardrobe? Look no further as Primark will be your salvation. Although there is a lot of bad fashion in their stores, Edinburgh offers 5 floors so I'm sure you will find something to suit your taste. Bad news for men though as the male fashion line leaves little to be desired. Primark is ideal if you want to follow the latest fashion trend or grab some wardrobe must haves. However, bare that you can buy a whole new outfit for less than £20 so the quality isn't top notch. Please don't hold this against it! The best advice I can give you? Go early in the morning to avoid the unbelieveable crowds that flock to the store on a daily basis. Not a pleasant shopping experience in the afternoon! read more

This store is full of the Primark usuals; extremely cheap clothing, shoes, accessories and homeware but it is apparantly the biggest store outside of London. It is quite difficult to find what you are after, even more difficult to find the way out once they have sucked you in. There are two entrances, one on Princes street and one on Rose street. The store is badly laid out; the shoes are all on the ground floor with the menswear, with the accessories being on the top floor. It really is disposable fashion; there are hundreds of tops for under £3, more than enough varieties of shorts and so on most of which fall apart after a couple of weeks of use. Even the staff are keen to get you out of the checkout as fast as possible, making minimum contact. If you're looking for budget summerwear then you are sure to get it here, but if you're looking for quality then I'd recommend going elsewhere. read more

I just love Primark. They offer a wide selection of clothes, shoes and accessories for very low prices. Of course that sometimes effects the quality but I have loads of stuff from there which is still good after years. The location of Primark is usually in the main shopping area of a city, unfortunately except for Austria. The shops are spacious and modern. The biggest problem there are the racks, which often are untidy and this makes it hard to find the right size. But I still think that buying nice and good stuff for so little money is worth the effort. So Primark is always on my list when I go to the UK. read more

It's a Primark: you know what you're getting yourself into. An enormous store (5 floors I think? 6?) of very cheap (both in terms of quality and price) clothes and some houseware stuff. Even compared to other Primarks, this store feels disorganized and messy, particularly on the weekends. There are good deals to be found if you're willing to spend great amounts of time weeding through schlock. If I need a cheap miniskirt to wear that night or something basic like socks or stockings, Primark is totally reliable. I find that any clothes more complex than that tend to be as unflattering as the store's florescent lighting. read more

Having been asked by my better half to review the purveyor of cheap clothing., I'm not sure what I can say to be positive. Far be it from me to tell people where to spend their hard earned cash, but I simply will never enter a Primark again. Having been in the Perth store and viewed clothing for under £5 new, all the while knowing many men, women and children died to make these clothes, my heart & head both declined and I decided never to darken their door again. My life is far too short and full of life to buy from a store that degrades those whom have no choice but to work in sweat shops. Oh my. Primark. That bastion of semi-disposable, slave-made clothing. It can sometimes be good but it can also be really cheap and tatty. I like to buy pyjamas here but the clothing is generally of thin material that breaks up upon washing and the cut is not always flattering. I most dislike their children's clothing for girls. It veers into hoochie-mama, mini-tartdom with lots of sparkle, lots of shine and lots of not-very-edifying slogans on tops like "I'm a princess" or "Born to shop". Just not what I would select for my kids. I think I like the colours and cut of H&M's clothing better, especially for children and they are just up the street. You can find a gem or two here but it is often crowded and it is a bit of a slog up and down all the floors to come away with not much. I look in sometimes. I usually regret it afterwards. read more

I've just come out of Primark after having to put in a complaint in with one of the managers about their staff. The problem - Someone jumped in front of me in the queue and then when I spoke up about it they (the queue jumper) turned round and gave me a whole load of abuse. The member of staff's response was to side with the queue jumper and join in with them! Never in my life have I experienced such appalling service in a shop. I say this as someone who used to work in a major department store during my student days. Thank you to the other lady who mouthed an apology to me. Avoid Edinburgh Princes Street Primark! But if you can't, then don't take any nonsense when you do go in from the less intelligent staff. read more

Primark has extremely cheap prices - does what it says on the tin so not sure why people are overly shocked when there items don't last a vast amount of time. For £3 a top can you really complain? And if you can don't shop there simple. Being an ex employee of Primark I also see things from a staff point of view, and one major issue in Princes Street is the LACK of staff! Although this is Primarks's fault and not the staff -we would continuously get it in the neck for the lack of staff which is completely unfair! Trying to tidy that massive store short staffed is a complete nightmare, and not helped with the fact customers feel it's okay to throw clothes on the floor once they have had a look at them - making it take twice as long! Which completely confuses me as customers dont walk into river island and topshop and throw the clothes on the floor, or if there is an item on the floor just stand on it?? so not sure why customers think it's okay to do it in Primark! - Bit of a rant there! Also to Emily - yes you would be suprised at how much stock gets stolen from Primark. Apart from the usual 2 security guards that guard the ground floor - there is also 3/4 others that do walk arounds and a small room on the ground floor where there are CCTV and around 4 security staff watching EVERYTHING! and trust me it is needed. In 1 week there were around 12/13 people caught shoplifting and thats only the one's that were caught! I also felt extremely safe them being there as the amount of times I have had extremely abusive customers is unreal . read more
