Not being super into wool and hand made items at the time, I bought one wool headband and brought it home (living in Seattle, you get COLD all the time). I grew to love this headband so much, that I now order headbands all the time from this place and have them shipped to Seattle. I cannot find yarn like the yarn at Ragamuffin ANYWHERE! It is so unique and thick, I would buy hundreds of headbands from this place if I could. Truly, they are so unique, I cannot do them justice in an explanation. I always tell people who are going to EDI for business to check this place out, and I will definitely continue ordering from this place as long as they let me. :)

But they weren't exactly welcoming and nice to me in here. In fact they were pretty rude. I wandered round looking confused for bit (a little test I do) and the woman just cast her vitriolic scorn on me as if to say, "What are you doing in my shop? Nobody, but nobody, buys anything from here." Not once, and I was looking confused for a good six minutes or so, was I offered assistance. She was just texting, looking up every now and again to cast a disdainful glance at me. I even said hello when I walked in and smiled cheerily. Nothing. Nada. So I feel completely at liberty to give this review. The clothes look like they came from a market stall that wasn't good enough to get a stall on the worst market. So rude, and so rubbish.

The clothes they sell are suitable for elderly ladies who just cannot find the type of jumpers and cardigans they like, anywhere else. Most old ladies like pockets where they can keep their hankies. They like loose comfy clothes and are not looking for the height of fashion. My Mum is 90 and has had great service from the gentleman who I presume owns the shop. He will bend over backwards to help. He will order in stock to suit. When Mum was short of money he just said come back with it later. Always courteous and kind. Maybe not top quality stuff but when the elderly can spill lots on their clothes and stain them it is not such an issue to replace them. I for one am very glad that they are there and hope they continue to trade for years to come.

This place is falling apart…read more The women's dressing rooms are disgusting. Curtains that no longer close are being held to the wall with chewing gum. I overheard one attendant tell a customer than they had two stalls open but that the lights in them don't work, so they'd have to get dressed in the dark. I'm not sure if they under-order smaller sizes, but there are always a million size 12+ on the racks and almost never any 8s or 6s. I'm actually size 12 so this is great for me, but woe to anyone smaller. You get what you pay for I guess, but this place is depressing to shop in.

So when this new shop opened recently i was a very happy bunny, but also very worried as it is a five minute walk from my office. The shop itself is great, set over two floors they have everything i need. The staff are super friendly, but not in a fake way. They genuinely seem like they want to help me and have a chat with me. I love this. However, i'm not so keen on the greeter at the door. I either find it intimidating or off putting to have someone in your face as you walk n the door, this does seem a tad forced and fake. Overall, this is a great edition to Princes Street. New Look might not be everyone's cup of tea, but they do exactly what they say on the tin. Fun, affordable fashion with the staff to match.

It's spacious and bustling with multiple floors (women/men/children). There's a plethora of options to shop from clothes and shoes to accessories and fragrances. It was difficult to find an employee to ask questions as they easily blended in with shoppers. There was also a self check-out section, which I appreciated being able to bypass the long lines for time's sake and only a few items to purchase. I would stop in again without hesitation whenever I visit the area again.

Kudos offer an absolutely stunning range of bridal and evening wear suitable for every special occasion. For the bride, they offer a huge range of different styles of wedding dress and their sizes go up to 30 so they can accommodate women of every shape and size - amazing! Kudos also sell bridesmaid's dresses and stock a range of different designers so there is a huge selection of dresses to choose from. There are plenty of Mother of the Bride outfits available in a range of different styles and colours. Kudos also sell a fantastic range of evening and prom dresses in every style and colour so whatever the occasion, Kudos will have the perfect outfit. The staff are lovely and inviting and provide such a great shopping experience that are bound to leave the shop with a smile on your face. The dresses in Kudos are so beautiful that it is always the place I go to in order to buy a party dress.

The cocktail dresses look like they'd fit like a glove, and are all very high quality. They are priced accordingly, but it would definitely be worth it if you were going to a wedding. The website probably showcases the outfits better so you can have a look before you go in, the only disadvantage be that there aren't any prices on the actual clothes. I was enticed in by their promise to deliver lovingly preserved second hand clothing to the ladies of Edinburgh! I was sold before I'd even approached! The dresses in here are in stunning condition, and all are proudly displayed on their hangers. They are mostly second hand but carefully chosen by the owner, who customers stopping by during my visit kept raving about! Always a good sign. The ladies occupying the shop were relaxed and friendly, having a good chat with me while I browsed. The clothing and accessories were all utterly unique and absolutely divine. I usually avoid big designers but when they are all displayed in such a fashion, and with the prices deflated, I have been enlightened and can now see why girls go crazy for them. Everything was colourful without being garish, and of impeccable quality. I bought an unusual ring out of Trouve for a reasonable price - it was too difficult to leave empty handed - and I had to hurl myself through the door before I went back to spend more money on a dress I fell in love with, and a pair of earrings I knew I didn't need (but wanted...badly). I felt pampered and well looked after without the shop assistants being too gushy or sleazy. They were genuinely lovely people who cared about their business - a very rare quality. It was bizarre in this day and age to see how a little business becomes pivotal to part of as community. Each and every customer asked for the owner, and one customer boasted of her entire outfit that day having been bought in here over the years! I can see why the girls love it so much - the shop owner runs wine tastings and other such girly events in store, adding spice to the art of shopping. I can't praise Trouve enough. It's got to the point I want to persuade my boss to get her wedding dress from here, and even if you don't buy anything (unlikely, ladies) you'll be bowled over by how lovely the shop assistants are. Offering clothes that are funky, hip and other adjectives from the 60s, there is a veritable feast of style in Trouvé (as you'd expect from a shop with a 'quirky' French name hinting at thrift store chic) . With cheap t-shirts (around £15-20), skirts and dresses, there is a surprising amount of choice in this small store, largely down to the fact it is very well laid out. Pride of place are the vintage dresses ( about £75-100) and even as a guy I was impressed. In addition to the clothes there are cool little nick nacks, jewellery and a good selection of shoes and bags, basically a girl's night out in one shop and who can say no to that. To add to this the staff are equally en vogue and have excellent product knowledge; it looks like they actually care about the stuff they are selling which makes a nice change. The only downside is that it is so popular with ma petite amie that I am not likely to stop hearing about it any time soon, which to be honest is not really the shop's fault. Vive la Trouvé!!

They had a huge section with wooden and fabric food and I was tempted to buy a cuddly banana but seeing as I'm not under 3 I thought it was best not to as I'd probably end up wondering why I'd bought it in the first place. They also had a wooden cake stand with a wooden cake display on it, it was gorgeous! There was also a good selection of Eric Carle toys and books and as I love the Hungriest Caterpillar this was a huge plus for me. In addition the children's clothing and toys there's also a small ladies fashion section with a rail of pretty tops and dresses. In addition to this there's a little vanity table that has Paul and Joe make-up displayed on it beautifully. I also have to mention the staff who were lovely and really friendly, when I popped in it was two girls working and they couldn't have been nicer, chatting away to all the customers and making everyone feel really welcome indeed, very knowledgeable about the products and seemed to really like working here too. Definitely deserving of five stars.

My friends and I always try very hard not to ogle the shop on our walk from Scotmid to my house and vice-versa. We avert our eyes because things in there are pretty and not cheap at all. Sometimes, though, there are those rare occasions when there's something at a reasonable price. My flatmate and another friend bought me a gorgeous dress for only 15 pounds, while most dresses there are in the 40 pound price range, if not more. They also sell children's clothes. I'm not sure if this is specific to the Marchmont area (there are lots of middle-class parents in this area as well as students). The women who work there have always been really kind to me. The dress my friends bought me had a tiny fault and they sent it off to get repaired at the tailor's for me. I don't know if this was standard, but I'm just glad I didn't have to argue about it at all. I'm not a fan of confrontation, you see. So if you do have some money to spend, this is a great place to get something, as the shop advertises, bohemian and dressy.
