Parents BEWARE
I…read morerarely leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience in hopes that it helps other parents.
The office staff has always been kind, friendly, and accommodating, and I truly appreciated them throughout our visits. Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Strassberg was very different.
Throughout my son's care, I repeatedly felt that my concerns were dismissed rather than investigated. When I expressed concern about my son's hemangioma, I was repeatedly reassured that it wasn't an issue. As it continued to grow, I ultimately had to push for a referral to a specialist myself. By that point, it had become much larger than it was initially.
I also voiced concerns about my son's low muscle tone and delayed crawling. Rather than evaluating those concerns further or referring us for additional assessment, I was told that "some kids just don't crawl." Looking back, I wish those concerns had been taken more seriously.
I was also concerned about my son's tongue tie, but it was never addressed despite bringing it up. Because of that delay, what may have been a simple in-office procedure was no longer an option. My son is now 15 months old and still struggles significantly with eating. While I understand there may be multiple contributing factors, including possible GI issues, I can't help but wonder whether earlier intervention could have made a difference.
My son also suffered from severe reflux, which was consistently minimized instead of being thoroughly evaluated.
Another experience that left me extremely disappointed was after my son had an anaphylactic reaction to cashews. I specifically requested blood work to confirm the allergy, but the testing that was ordered did not even include cashews. When reviewing the results with me, Dr. Strassberg joked, "Well, at least he's not allergic to cockroaches," because that happened to be one of the allergens on the panel. As a parent who had just watched her child experience a potentially life-threatening allergic reaction, I found that comment incredibly inappropriate and dismissive. It felt like yet another serious concern that wasn't taken seriously.
What was most difficult was feeling that my son's care was based on generalized reassurance rather than his individual symptoms. At nearly every visit, I was told he would "be fine," yet many of the concerns I raised persisted and ultimately required evaluation by specialists. Looking back, I feel valuable time was lost because issues were repeatedly brushed aside instead of investigated.
As a mother, I trusted this doctor with my son's health during some of the most important months of his development. I now regret not seeking second and third opinions much sooner. Every child develops differently, but parents also know when something doesn't feel right. I hope this feedback encourages providers to truly listen to parents, take persistent concerns seriously, and provide individualized care rather than dismissing concerns with blanket reassurances. Early intervention matters, and in our case, I believe opportunities were missed.
