I decided I wanted to treat myself to a little cake. I usually visit a local bakery for cakes, mini desserts, and cannolis. It's generally pretty good, although it can be a bit hit or miss depending on what you order. While searching online for bakeries nearby, this place came up with stellar reviews. I was surprised to see it was only about an 11-minute drive from my house, so I decided to make the trip. The bakery was set up much like a classic neighborhood bakery, with beautiful cakes displayed along one side and cases filled with mini desserts, pastries, cookies, and cannolis. While chatting with the staff, I mentioned the bakery I usually go to. That's when they told me that bakery actually gets its cakes from Normandie. I found that fascinating because I had always assumed every bakery made its own cakes from scratch. Suddenly, a lot made sense. I had originally planned on buying a small birthday cake, but since it was only for two people, I decided to put together an assortment of mini desserts instead. I picked up tiramisu, carrot cake, lemon cake, and several other mini cakes. Every single one was outstanding. Not one dessert missed the mark. The carrot cake was moist, the tiramisu was perfectly balanced, and the lemon cake was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh, high-quality, and thoughtfully made. The minis were slightly smaller than the ones I'm used to buying elsewhere, but honestly, they were the perfect size. Now that I know where those cakes are actually coming from, I'll happily make the extra 11-minute drive and buy directly from the source. This will absolutely be my new go-to bakery for birthdays, special occasions, and hostess gifts. A wonderful birthday discovery that turned into finding my new favorite bakery.

I could tell from looking at it in the case that it wasn't lady fingers but I thought atleast the cake might be soaked in espresso. There was indeed no espresso in it and it just tasted like a vanilla cake with cocoa powder. I still stand by thenm and would recommend people to go there, just don't get the "tiramisu"

It was larger than I expected and a little overwhelming. There seemed to be only one person working on Labor Day (or that was the case when we were there in the afternoon) and two cash registers. The one on the right appeared to be for drinks and ice cream, the one straight ahead for donuts. She was always helping out people with ice cream and we headed towards the back where there was a substantial display of donuts. They have plenty of tables and chairs plus outdoor seating so good for parties of all sizes. They do have gluten free and vegan donuts, but their donuts are NOT both vegan and gluten free which meant one of my kids could not partake. There is A LOT to choose from but we ended up getting: CRUMBLE ME APPLE: light and not too sweet. The crumble gave a nice textural contrast, the donut was good, and it was filled with a tart apple filling that I thought really made it delicious. There was also a sticky caramel (?) drizzle but it was very light and melded with everything else. Excellent donut choice. CINNAMON & SUGAR KRONUT: I asked for recommendations because I couldn't decide and the girl recommended a kronut. I've had my share of cronuts/kronuts (croissant donuts) but am always open to trying more variations. This donut was large, light, and had decent lamination. I didn't find it too greasy, sweet, or heavy and I actually really enjoyed it! ARE YOU CEREAL?: my daughter picked this. She really liked it and said it was "amazing". I didn't taste it but it definitely looks sweeter than the ones I chose for the adults. At least she likes it? Donuts were $4.75 each so it adds up fast, but the ones I tasted were quite good! They have restrooms in the back but you need to request a key to access them. You have to be a customer. They were out of toilet paper and paper towels but they do have a hand dryer. The only downside is they aren't very clean. Tables looked okay though it was highly dependent on the table, but floors were sticky. Not sure if we came at the wrong time or they were just understaffed. The girl working at the time was really nice and sweet so no issues with service itself. Overall, a great place to get donuts that taste good and aren't too sweet (depending on what you get). I'm glad we came across this place!
