Ramen, corn cheese, bibimbap
Jojo N.

I'd give this place about 3.5 stars. The food is overpriced but it tastes okay for the most part. My bibimbap was exceptionally flavorless but the corn cheese was good. Very limited banchan provided. The service was okay, I kept having to ask them to bring me things when they were near instead of them checking in on me. Our main dishes took about 15 minutes to come out after our starter. The space is relatively small but they have a good amount of tables. Overall, the food is just okay and the prices are high. Not worth the risk of being in the area for.

Green onion pancake

Kind of disappointed w/ food quality. Nothing terrible but not quite good. We were hoping to try some things like pollock soup but they took it off the menu as well as several other things it seems as they probly weren't popular enough. They do have Jokbal (steamed pork hocks) but we weren't hungry enough so just went w/ fried chicken & green onion pancake, both of which were underwhelming. The pancake was a bit too greasy. The fried chicken we did half original half spicy sweet sauce. It was fried well but had no flavor, like they didn't marinate at all. And the yangyum sauce tasted like straight up Mae ploy chili sauce, way too sweet, runny & weak. I do see some reviews complaining about the dive bar vibe, FYI that's what a pocha is - a dive bar for late night drinks & food.

Pork gyoza

Very attentive and nice staff. We had the pork gyoza, the kimchi pancake, the half order of fried chicken and the corn cheese. Everything was excellent. I would order each one of these items every time. Highly recommend this hidden gem.

Teokbokki

Cozy and casual, this spot is perfect for a fun dinner and drinking. Menu was extensive with Korean comfort food/street food like fried chicken and tteokbokki. We got a bunch of things and really enjoyed their meat dishes like the Jokbal which came with a banger salad and sauces. Their Fried Chicken, both bone-in and boneless, were very crispy and fresh. The Bibimbap and Tteokbokki weren't bad just could be more flavorful. Staffs were very friendly. Again, ambience was very chill with a few small tables. Decent prices too.

Boneless chicken wings

Super cozy and chill authentic Korean food. Absolutely must try corn cheese. My favorite thing honestly though was the udon noodles in the savory broth. The boneless wings were also delicious. They Had a great sweet-and-sour sauce on them but honestly next time I think I would prefer to try the bone in wings. toboke it was also worth trying but a little spicy for my pallet personally. Portions are shareable I left with leftovers. And remember, don't skip on the Soju.!

Fantastic hole in the wall restaurant in northeast Portland. The staff were incredibly nice, and everything came out quickly. I collect shot glasses, and I wanted to buy one of theirs cuz they're cute. Asked how much they were and our server gave one to me! Incredibly sweet. I went with a friend and we ordered tteokbokki, cheese corn, the seafood kimchi pancake (my favorite thing! Crispy, salty, flavorful), and half marinated half normal fried chicken (literally the crispiest fried chicken of my life, can't recommend enough). Come hungry and with a group so you can try a bit of everything!

Haemul pajeon was on point and super delicious!

Suul K Pocha serves up a crave-worthy lineup of Korean comfort food that hits all the right spots. The fried chicken is a standout--light, ultra-crispy batter with a juicy interior, and glazes that strike the perfect balance between sweet, savory, and spicy. Whether you go for soy garlic or the fiery gochujang, the flavor lingers in the best way. It's the kind of dish that disappears fast, especially if you're sharing. The udon noodles offer a soothing contrast. Rich, savory broth carries a gentle sweetness, while the thick, chewy noodles soak it all up beautifully. Topped with scallions, fish cake, and a perfectly soft egg, it's a deeply satisfying bowl--one that feels like a warm hug on a chilly night. It's simple but done with intention, and you can taste it in every slurp. And then there's my favorite, haemul pajeon--crispy-edged and generously packed with seafood and scallions. Each bite has that perfect ratio of crunchy exterior to soft, flavorful middle, with tender shrimp and squid making every slice worth savoring. Paired with the tangy dipping sauce, it rounds out the meal as both a crowd-pleaser and a texture-lover's dream. Suul K Pocha nails the harmony of bold and comforting, making it a spot you'll want to return to--again and again.

Whole Yang-Nyum Chicken

Awesome service and the food was really yummy. I'm so glad this ended up being my last meal in Portland. The chicken was so crispy and juicy, and the sauce was exactly my kind of flavor, sweet and savory. It was worth the price too, you get 10 pieces total. The tofu seafood soup was warm and delicious, and the corn cheese paired with the chicken was perfect. I would definitely come back just for that chicken.

The kimchi sides in the beginning were extremely good. I make kimchi and theirs blew mine away!

Hands down the best Korean food I've had since being in Korea in '88!! May have to go back again while in town!

Jjamppong! This huge delicious bowl is so good on a cold night!
Lisa K.

Popped in here on a random cold Wednesday night. The owner and service was lovey, the Bachman was flowing, and the Jjamppong and bibimbap far exceeded expectations. Definitely going to add Soul K Pacha to our regular dinner rotation

When I went the first night I got the shrimp pad Thai and it was the best pad Thai I've had in a long time. So full of flavor and fresh ingredients. I also got the hazy IPA from the local brewery, Backwoods. When we came back later in the weekend, my spouse got the shrimp pad Thai since I sang its praises. Two bibimbaps to go: one was tofu and the other was spicy pork. Spicy pork is not spicy but looks like it is. Good taste, so it's marinated well and the meat isn't tough to chew, like some other places. I loved the spicy pork bibimbap though. All fresh ingredients! They give a lot of vegetables, which is so nice, because other places are very sparing with their ingredients. I'm usually left with so much rice at the end. However, this place did a good job giving the right amount of ingredients. They also gave a small cup of miso soup - thank you! Would get this again! My husband enjoyed his tofu version. If you're someone who wants spice, add some of the red sauce they give you in a cup. I was very happy the spicy pork wasn't spicy, but I liked being able to control any spice with the red sauce.

I definitely preferred the bulgogi. Due to too many food allergies, my choices were limited, but I loved the bulgogi and can't wait to go back. Location: This bar is on the first floor of the Hyatt House Portland / Downtown. Ambiance: Pretty quiet and chill. There weren't a lot of people there so it was really easy to get a drink. Drink options: I really loved how they circle around different local beer on tap. They also have a few bottled beer too. They have a cast amount of liquor too. Surprisingly, they had a new bottle of Hennessy when we finished the first (during our stay). Usually a lot of bars in hotels don't have it, so that was a major plus. Bartenders: We met three while we were there. All of them super kind, friendly, and informative of the surrounding area. They gave us lots of tips on what to see, eat, and drink. They were really down to earth people. Pricing: I thought it to be fairly reasonable for a hotel, however I might just be jaded from Bay Area pricing (yikes). What I loved about this bar is that we were able to just chat with the bartender. I didn't feel like I had to go back to my room with my drink (which is usually the case). I was able to talk to a few other people sitting at the bar too. Of course all from out of town, but still nice talking to other friendly strangers. They do serve food at this place, but I didn't really get a chance to try it it since there was soooo many other food joints in the area.

Scant options is rice. Lots of potatoes. Even the condiments were confused; no soy or siracha on the table but ketchup and Tapatio. The general lack of caring by the management is what sticks with me. The sad bowl of sugar packets, jam packets, creamers and stir sticks all thrown together on the table like a mistake.
