I had the ribeye steak and it was not what I expected from a steakhouse restaurant. The steak was cooked correctly and that was about it. It was pan seared no flavor and with all the extra fat a portion was even tough to cut into and I didn't even try to eat it. The veggies were cooked well except they did not taste that good. Even the mashed potatoes had no seasoning or flavor very bland tasting. The baked potato was good and cooked perfectly. Stopped on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. The menu looked good but we decided on the buffet because it looked so good. The day we were there it was all you can eat meatloaf and catfish entrees, with plenty of good vegetables, a good salad bar, drinks, and desert included for less than $12.00 each. The food was excellent and the wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. It is a family-run restaurant and their pride shows in the way they run the business and treat their customers. I don't understand what people are expecting when they stop in Sonora, TX. This is a SMALL town of 2,500 people. We visit the Sutton County Steak House at LEAST once a week. The service is good, the food is good! There are not many other options around this city. If you're looking for Texas Roadhouse or Outback, good luck! You'll be traveling an hour to get to one. Traveling through Sonora, needed a quick convenient dinner, and this was close to our hotel. Online showed a lovely veggie platter so we went, and realized the entire menu was meat-goods, not great for a vegetarian and a vegan. We ordered a salad and it was brought out with cheese, neither of us had seen this on the menu and the waitress argued with us, then after checking the menu, told us "oh it's not on there but all of our salads have cheese." She took our salads back, brought steamed veggies instead of the grilled veggies I ordered, and two new salads with a couple of grapes, tomatoes, and strawberries, nothing worth $12. In all honesty with the amount of cheese on the original salad they should have had it on the menu listed as "cheese salad with lettuce." When we asked about the beer and wine list, she said "all the regular beers," flicked her fake nails at us, and went about her night. To say she was rude would be an understatement. There was no music playing and the restaurant was uncomfortably silent. The cowboys near us talking about cattle auctioning and ranch work was interesting though. read more

Buttery and crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. So happy with my choice. I highly recommend getting a biscuit. On request they have honey and it is pure honey not honey sauce. UhThey have a varied menu. Hamburger to steak. Soup and salad bar - small. KC sirloin for 2 was 8 pieces of sirloin. It was delivered quickly. Queso was ordinary. Baked potato came with sour cream, butter, shredded cheese mixture and bacon on the side. They have a full bar but no draft beer. Server failed to tell us about having to get the soup on our own. That night it was butternut squash. Lots of things in the soup so it was more of. Stewp - cross between soup and stew. Very good. They allow certified service dogs only. read more

Almost like a very thick dry rub? Drink: Fountain drinks were weird in all of Sonora. I recommend drinking something else. Don't get confused by 'steakhouse' in the name. Yes, they cook steak, but not the best quality and not always how you order it. As far as steak goes, not close to par for price. The rest of the food taste like something from Golden Corral. I understand it was recently passed on (management wise) to the next generation. Apparently they forgot to pass on quality and service. Seems to be another restaurant that charges high price for a crappy experience. Staff is mostly friendly. But, you better have a lot of time on your hands if you don't eat buffet. I once waited excess of an hour for a medium rare steak that wasn't medium rare. Buffet consists mostly of fried stuff and salad bar is shameful. Do not pay extra for salad. Me and my work partner both had the chicken fried steaks and the salad bar. The chicken fried steak was really good, salad bar was to be expected from Sonora Texas. From what I've seen around town this looks like a go to place. Just looking at the menu, the steaks looked overpriced. $19.99 for a ribeye that doesn't come with the (2.99) salad bar seems high, but hey, maybe their steak is worth it?? Bland. Everything tasted like it was bought frozen and heated up. Chicken tenders were decent. Chicken fried chicken is NOT what you think it is - it's actually chicken fried steak doused in gravy. Despite the confusion, adding a liberal amount of salt & pepper helped to make it palatable. Gravy tasted very plain. In the end, I'd have to say the sweet tea was the best tasting of the meal. Service was barely there. Staff seemed to barely acknowledge us. They showed up to take the order - no smiles or anything - then they dropped off order without saying a single word, smile or even any eye contact. They disappeared at that point. They showed up 30 minutes later only to give us the bill without asking us if we were done or if we wanted anything else. I paid the bill, and they FINALLY refilled my drink. We dropped in off I - 10 looking for a good lunch spot. We found it here! There was a elaborate lunch buffet for only $11.99, but we decided on the patty melt and BLT. Both sandwiches were excellent and came promptly, hot and tasty. Our server, Michelle, was quick efficient and friendly. Good job, Michelle. Stopped for the night in Sonora on our way to Big Bend. So nice to have a home cooked meal on the road. Service was not fast but so friendly and delicious! Salad bar was perfect for some raw and fresh veggies. Husband lived the chicken fried steak, child's chicken were heavy on actual chicken, and the riveted my daughter and I got were seasoned perfectly and like one I would grow up with at home. Travelling back from Lake Havasu, AZ needed a rest and a good meal. I seen this steakhouse on Google and took a chance, and what a great chance I took. Ordered the ribeye steak med rare and it came out before I knew it. The food is great along with the service. Friendly staff and atmosphere. Next time I am travelling I will make it a point to stop their again.
