We had seen so many commercials for the new Sonic smasher burgers and just had to try one while driving back home on a road trip. Sonic is always our go to spot when on a road trip. It was good, but definitely sloppy to eat ha I recommend not eating it while driving. Definitely take the time to sit and enjoy it like we did. I will say though for the price of adding on a medium tots they need to add more to the order. Other than that the restrooms were clean, service quick and they gave us tons of condiments. read more

I will not be coming to this restaurant again. They evening staff is incompetent which reflects badly on the manager who has always resolved any issue i might have had. For an employee to flat out ignore an order speaks volumes good luck if your server is Cassie. I called the restaurant and a guy named walker tried to help but because of poor customer server i was late to work which in turn makes me look bad . To make things worse they had two cars. If I was visiting the place it would only be during day shift as evening shift is completely incapable of doing their jobs. read more

We've been to the Sonora Sonic twice, while passing through to west Texas, and on both occasions the staff is extremely courteous, professional and helpful. Hell Yeah! After experiencing Sonic Hell in Ozona, I stopped here for lunch. This place restored my faith in Texas Sonics. This was exactly what one would expect when visiting a Sonic location. There were plenty of drive in slots, my order was taken immediately, and delivered promptly. The food was up to Sonic standards and we able to eat in peace and quickly get back on I-10 when we rolled out. If you find yourself travelling through West Texas and need some food, I encourage you to avoid Ozona, and stop here. You will be glad that you did. read more

Took awhile to get our order, but they were busy, and we weren't in a rush. When we got it, and ate it, it was a satisfactory meal. Husband had chicken strips that were just okay. Tater tots were a little greasy, and neither they nor strips looked like the picture on the menu board. He asked for honey mustard, and got white gravy. The gravy was good! I had the hot dog which was like any other hot dog I've had. It was good. We didn't get any napkins with our meal, but we had a couple in the car. Ordered four drinks: Cherry Limeade - extra cherry, easy ice They have a button to push which shows up on the screen as "EZ ICE" which means only about 1/2 full of ice. They didn't push that button so we called them back and they changed it. The drink STILL Came with a FULL cup of ice. Chocolate milkshake with a cherry on top It came without a cherry. They claim to be the best place for drinks but they are not interested in providing you with the correct order. Going to DQ across the street next time! read more

I do the drive between Austin and McDonald Observatory frequently. I usually stop at the Sonic in Ozona, but on this occasion decided to spice things up and try Sonora (hey, it's not the most exciting drive; you have to stretch to find some variety). I like Sonic. Their tots are yummy. This is review is not for Sonic, it's for the staff at this location. So I pull in. I'm tired, having been awake at a telescope all night and halfway through a 7-hour drive home, but I'm excited about my tots. I place my order. It was immediately apparent that something weird was happening. The guy left the mic on and I could hear raucous laughter. It soon became apparent that they were mocking me. Viciously. Oh, yeah, I'm British. I've lived in Texas two years so I sound American to my British friends, but to those not used to hearing foreign accents mine is quite a generic BBC one. Nothing remarkable. Though even if it were, you don't make fun of customers where they can hear you, right?? (Actually, lots of people do here. But it's usually good natured. This was not). This went on for a while. I was stunned, listening to them using slurs without even bothering to mute themselves. Eventually, someone repeated my order back to me, in the most obnoxious mockery of an English accent I have ever heard. I could still hear others cackling. Update 01/21/16: I was sent a message by an employee here named Jasper W. who felt the need to demonstrate my exact problem with this location. Here is Jasper's message to me... "Hi Racheal! I am an employee at the Sonic in Sonora, TX, and I often skim through these reviews to see what our store needs to improve on and what we can do to better serve our customers. I was actually working the day you wrote this review and while I don't disagree with you that that employee should not have been talking while on the clock, I really don't appreciate having our kids, or myself, called unintelligent publicly on a review site. We wash down the patio area twice every month so that it stays nice and clean, as we have quite a few customers that come through with their pets and children that eat at that area, and it can get quite messy. We used to block off the entrances when we did it, but then people started complaining that we didn't need to do that to hose down the patio area, so we stopped. Maybe if we had, your review would've been about how we weren't open and how unintelligent we were to purposely turn customers away to clean such a small area. We serve a lot of locals, most of whom know us by name, about 30-40% of the customers we get daily are from out of town, so please, excuse our friendly nature toward our customers. And for the record, I'm not sure if you know this or not, but you can actually put things on burgers after they are made. How crazy is that? All you had to do was ask and we could've given you some cheese. Thanks for choosing our store, and please, next time you want to leave a negative review, rethink exactly what you are reviewing, because in reality, the only real issue you had with your visit was that your burger did not have cheese, if you are that concerned about your vehicle getting wet, I recommend not driving it at all. I didn't go for the food on this particular trip; my husband was craving a milkshake and I wanted to get an Ocean Water. We were originally thinking of going to DQ across the street, but we don't have a Sonic back home and it's not too often we find one close to a truck stop (yes, my husband is a trucker). I find that sometimes it's slow going at any Sonic because of the inflow of orders from several intercoms at once. However, it was pretty dead here and we just wanted drinks, so we figured it would be quick. Yeah, I was wrong on that. The chick was painfully slow to make the milkshake and the dude was painfully slow to bring them out to us. I swear we sat there for 5 minutes just for the milkshake. Girl taking the order was friendly and seemed on top of things when my husband changed the order midway through. Food arrived quicker than our Sonic at home (hooray!). Tots we're hot and cooked perfectly, burgers were correct and hot, too. Chicken and grilled cheese also great. No problems at all and our bag came well-stocked with ketchup, honey mustard, and napkins. Impressed. Maybe there's been a change because we'd go back. Everything was perfect! read more
