I've been a customer a handful of times over the years. Susu has a beautiful, wide variety of jewelry and supplies to make your own. Went in today in search of a stone or sea glass for a ring where the original gem fell out. She found one for me, I said it wasn't exactly what I was looking for but genuinely thanked her. She glared back and said "You don't like it? It's very high quality" I replied that although it was beautiful, it wasn't what I was looking for and didn't like how it laid on the ring itself. "I can sand it down for you. But I don't want to now... you've wasted too much of my time." I apologized for taking 5 minutes of her time and left. Maybe I caught her on a bad day, and I try to shop local whenever I can, but just a disappointment to be treated rudely. read more

Crazy lady with high prices. Been going there on/off for 3 years and she still doesn't remember me. Then some customers ask her for a "break or discount " which then she gives to them (in front of me), but doesn't offer it to others. Inventory is messy and all over the place. We came in very last minute. We appreciate them making time for us. The part that was very concerning was that we were completely up charged and oversold. They only have one pounding station so my daughter had to wait for me to be done. Because we had to wait for each other, we were charged extra time each which was very silly!!! The instructor was nice but she left us alone much of the time which also made us go slower. If you go I would recommend you pick out beads way ahead of time and set your timer or you WILL have to pay a lot extra than you ever thought. I didn't think this was ok. The bracelets came out beautiful but the experience was just blah after being totally up-charged. read more

Came into Susu studio looking for gold bangles and was greeted by a very nice blonde girl who I was chatting with about the bangles and Susu came in and yelled and me and told me I needed to close my purse (I had just came from the bank) and accused me of trying to steal from her and told me I needed a mask to be in her store even though neither Susu or her employee was wearing one and there wasn't a sign saying you had to wear one. Susu is so rude and needs to be out of business and will be if she continues to attack her customers. I went to Susu to restring my puka shell necklace that was broken, she took care of it while I waited and did a wonderful job. If you have jewelry that needs to be repaired, I highly recommend going to Susu's Studio & Design. She also has a wonderful and remarkable variety of jewelry. You can even create your own jewelry designs. Her shop is a wonderland of beautiful things. You really have to go and experience it yourself to benefit from the amazing inventory she has. I really don't have to order online at all because everything she offers is at such a great price it will help me to keep my business on-island as opposed to online. I know these items are imported. I met Susu at the Lahaina Civic Center Craft Fair on Sunday. We found wood (not koa) laser-cut bookmarks with Hawaiian designs for $1/each. The carved-out pineapple bookmark was especially nice. What a steal when they are selling these bookmarks in the local stores for $5-$7/each! Needless to day, we depleted her stock of wood bookmarks! read more

Got to learn how to make bangles! The instructor was so sweet and forgot her name she works tue & thurs. Got to learn the hourly cost after we were finished!!! It's $25 for first class not including gold pieces, chain, jump rings, shells, etc... if you want to go back again you can use their equipment with instructor for $25 p/hr, if you don't need instructor it's $10 p/hr. Not said in the beginning!!! Don't forget to punch in and out with the "hourly" punch card cause if you forget cashier lady (im guessing her name is susu) will be mad and blame you for it!! I would give it more stars if the owner wasn't rude! She told me and my gf to "Focus"!! Lol I had to laugh!!! Wtf!!! Greatly appreciated though for the learning experience by the instructor!!! read more

This is a great shop to buy shells, jewelry, crystals, etc. The owner Susu Kim is really nice and friendly. I got an amethyst crystal and Susu lowered the price without me even having to ask! It was originally about $20 I got it for $12! The products here are very pretty and reasonable. If I was in Maui again, I definitely come back here! Of all the beaches, hiking & shopping in Maui....my favorite place and first stop is SuSu's Studio & Design. Owner is so fun and helpful. Beautiful items and variety galore whether you want finished jewelry or all the components to make it yourself!She always has some kind of a great sale going on too. I understand that she does workshops from bead stringing and wind chimes to pearl drilling. Sadly, I just haven't been in town long enough to attend one. Her store is a bit of everything...like a true artists studio...it attempts to be organized, but anything worth finding is worth the hunt, which is why I love going there. She always has a nice collection of the Ni'ihau Sunrise Shells (finished & ready for a chain and/or unfinished and waiting for your imagination) and her staff are so creative, thoughtful and helpful. And if you just want to pour through every bin, nook and cranny, then they let you be in your zone. A bead lovers dream and a crafter's delight. And I decided to made hoop earrings with pearls! There is an enormous selection of charms, shells, pearls, etc. to choose from! Wow! Our instructor Kathy showed us how to do everything step-by-step. There are lot's of beads and shells so there is plenty of stuff to look at and find. Unfortunately, there are boxes piled on top of one another and the place is a mess. The lady isn't very friendly. I am not sure if it's just me- but I've been there many many times and every time I ask for help, she points to a corner and tells me to find it myself. Or I'll ask her about a product and she walks away. There are a lot of great finds here though and that is why I keep coming back, otherwise I would go somewhere else. Living in Maui- there aren't many options as opposed to the mainland where you can go somewhere else. As far as beads and stones- yes there are lots of things to dig through and find. We took a jewelry making class here and loved it! Kathy was an incredible instructor and extremely patient with our whole group. She even polished my silver ring for me which was tarnished! Susu, the owner, was very helpful as well. She has an eye for perfect Tahitian pearls and you can't beat her prices.
