SushiStop in Pasadena is a small spot, but the food is consistently delicious. It's our go-to place for affordable, tasty sushi with great service. My absolute favorites are the popcorn shrimp sushi, baked salmon, and baked scallop sushi--each plate comes with four pieces and is typically around $5-$6, which is an excellent value. I also love their blue crab hand roll. They add this incredible mayo-based sauce to their rolls that takes everything to the next level--it's seriously so good. Service is always friendly and efficient, and we usually get seated pretty quickly. Another big plus is their rewards program. If you come often like I do, it really adds up and makes it even more worth it. Since it's located in downtown Pasadena, parking is easy with nearby parking structures. My husband and I love this place, and it's hands down our favorite sushi spot in the area. Highly recommend.

Bought a lunch special $9.99 poke bowl to go and was surprised how big the bowl was! It was delicious and loved the fresh orchid flower! Will try other items in my next visits. The gurl who took my order was very nice u was happy to tip her. Inside seating looked nice clean and wasn't too busy on a Tuesday lunchtime.

Was in Old Town Pasadena and needed to get a quick lunch. Sushi Stop has some great lunch specials starting at $9.99 and from what I saw, the portion sizes were very good. I opted to get a nice big bowl of Ramen with the extra char sui and it did not disappoint. For the price there was a lot of wonderful, flavorful slices of pork. The ramen was good and hit the spot. The food is amazing for the price. I was kind of skeptical about ordering ramen here because it's a sushi place but I did anyways and it was probably one of the best ramens I've had. Service was also great.

    Spicy garlic ramen lunch $12.19!

My server was Michelle, super cool server no fuss and gets me the order correct. Don't knock this place as they have FANTASTIC lunch prices. They have multiple locations and so far I've also been to the one of Sawtelle. They have consistency from location to location.

Every time I'm in the area, I have to make a stop here. The sushi is always fresh and reasonably priced. My go-to orders include the truffle salmon and the baked salmon roll. Service is always great and I love the casual vibes. A must try when in Pasadena!

    Original poke lunch special $9.99

This is a typical Americanized Japanese place. DECOR was nice. Nice sit down place. We arrived at 11:45 and there were not a lot of people but was 90% full when we left around 12:30. FOOD the $9.99 lunch special has a nice variety and generous portion. It's a total steal with today's inflation. We were worried that it's be small but all dishes came out of decent sizes. The original poke was slightly odd with tomato and avocado added but otherwise taste fine. We rate it 3/5. Spicy poke was fairly spicy. We'd rate it 5/5. The chicken udon was kinda salty which we had to add water, but taste was good. No veggies though. 3.5/5 after water added. We noticed there were lots of take out orders but also plenty of people here alone on their lunch break. SERVICE was great. All the servers are super friendly very efficient. You are acknowledged right away. Advertised about lunch specials and they work together as a team and always paid attention to see if you needed something. Overall this is a good place if craving for a hearty affordable Americanized Japanese food. Not sure that's I'd drive all the way here just for this, but won't mind if in the area.

Food was great. Brought my 4yr old to try sushi for her first time and she loved it! Her favorite was the shoyu ramen! Was a great value from lunch menu. Our waitress Michelle was very hospitable and helpful.

They have a decent amount of options on their menu. Really liked their baked rolls and their salmon carpaccio. Service is quick and the restaurant is on the smaller size.

Sushistop has the logo based off the iconic GameStop without any of the trauma that GameStop caused me of coming in with hopes and dreams only to be crushed by an overweight gamer telling me my games are worth a few cents. Instead I get amazing sushi in the heart of the main strip of Pasadena with super good sushi and homey vibes from welcoming waiters. Also I was lucky enough to play their beer dice game where the gambler in me came out and I rolled double 6's for some .99 beer. Whether you love a cold Japanese beer or just good sushi in a great spot this place has it covered. If you guys get lucky enough to have, Devin or Jocelyn to serve you be nice and let them know you came there from a Yelp and they will take good care of you.

    (g062) Crunchy Rice (1/10) delivery
    Nikole M.

We placed an order for delivery and it wasn't marked as ready until after 45min after ordering. The driver dropped the order off within 15 minutes of picking it up but by the time the food was delivered everything was cold as if it had been sitting long before pickup. The first thing we opened to eat was the crunchy rice. We each ate a piece and realized it tasted weird. A bit like it had old guac and salsa on top (very weird). Everything else was decent tasting but cold. We had miso soup, gyoza, pieces of sushi and 2 sushi rolls. I will say that the quality of food in the restaurant hasn't disappointed before and this is the first time ordering for delivery from this restaurant. We won't be ordering delivery from here again but may visit the restaurant another time.

Multiple sushi items, I was not impressed by any in particular.

Firstly.. the couch seating along the wall had lots of tears..I had to choose carefully where to place my bum The food tasted far from fresh. The tuna roll in particular left an unpleasant aftertaste. Ambiance: music was too loud for my liking. Service: very friendly - which I appreciated despite the food.

The service and hand rolls are just as good as Pasadena, but the parking isn't free, which is the main reason I rank it slightly lower. Downtown LA would be #3. At this point, I'd rather go to the Pasadena or Koreatown locations because I've had a better overall experience at both. I came to the Pasadena location on a Wednesday around noon. It was pretty empty when we arrived, but about 30 minutes later, right as we were leaving, it started getting busy with the lunch crowd. Every hand roll was well prepared and tasted fresh. The waitress who greeted us and helped seat us was very kind. She was wearing black glasses and kept checking on us to make sure everything was okay. She was attentive and very professional. The only negative was that I noticed a slight fishy smell from the water glass. Hopefully they can make sure all the glasses are thoroughly cleaned. Overall, Pasadena is still my favorite KazuNori location, and I'll definitely be back.

It had clams, shrimp, abalone, and vegetables. It was served in a medium-sized stone hot pot. It was perfect for two! Really enjoyed this! ASSORTED TEMPURA Crispy, crispy and crispy! So good! The vegetables were shiitake mushroom, green bean, sweet potato, and shrimp. This was the best tempura I've had in so long! I'll definitely be reordering when I return! HANDROLLS Spicy Tuna, Real Crab, Negi Toro All delicious and they cut it in half to share as well! My favorites were the spicy tuna and negi toro. But all were good and well made! Each one was large enough to share too, especially if you order different dishes. CUSTOMER SERVICE We had attentive service, since we were the last guests for lunch hour. So we had to hurry and place our order within 15 minutes before lunch hour is over. However, it was still a smooth service and a very pleasant experience overall! This is my second time here and I am definitely returning! Highly recommend coming on a weekday for lunch, as there are lunch special menus to try as well as a la carte menus to choose from as well. But whether you come here for lunch or dinner, the food was deliciously prepared and the second time was even better! Highly recommend!

A5 Wagyu Tartelette with caviar 9/10: delicious tartare and truffle flavor paired well, it had a bit too much truffle where we couldn't appreciate the Wagyu flavor as much because of it Smoked ribeye tataki 10/10: delicious smoked flavor. Typically I'm skeptical that are as just extra fluff for visuals, but these micro greens actually paired so well with the smokey meat flavor. Chawanmushi 7/10: classic Chawanmushi, egg was cooked well, not particularly better than others I've had. The Dine LA menu says it is with uni and okra, but ours today was abalone and mushroom, which were still delicious. Prime ribeye 9/10: delicious soft and tender. They serve it with the bone marrow rice. It was a bit bland so I'm glad they serve it with wasabi. If you haven't tried steak with wasabi, give it a shot. Bone marrow rice 10/10: prepared table side. The kimchi, mushroom, seaweed all pair well with the rice. Rice itself was cooked well. It wasn't overly salty or savory, it was a good balance of buttery flavor. Miso cappuccino ice cream 4/10: the vanilla bean ice cream was a bit icy rather than creamy. The miso cappuccino foam was too salty personally for me. There was a strong coffee flavor, but it was overpowered by the saltines. Imperial palace cocktail 9/10: not part of the set menu. It was a good balance of Yuzu and whiskey. Often times when you order a Yuzu cocktail it just has a generic citrus flavor, but this one was a true strong yuzu flavor. Refreshing and complimented the savory meat dishes Overall, it's pricey for the amount of food you get, but that's expected with a premium wagyu set dinner. Especially if we did not get the complimentary course, it is a small amount of food for the $78 set and you won't leave full. But the quality and taste were premium. Service: very kind and attentive staff. They even gave us a complementary palate cleanser dish, and a scallion sauce to try. Ambiance: spacious dining room, we did not leave smelling like smoke or barbecue. The bathrooms are clean and have fancy Japanese toilets. Good for special occasions, not for everyday unless you like paying $128 per person. Dining room is dark, elegant and kissed w gold metal accents. Each table has table top grill. Rest assured, you won't be doing any cooking the servers do it for you. Aeko my first server was unpleasantly hyper, rushed and acted as if running a race. He served the 1st 3 dishes. He'd drop it off, then scurry away quickly. When I asked a question, he'd give a quick response and walk away while I'm still talking. Worst personality, I was the only diner in the entire restaurant. The pacing was too quick, I'd barely eaten half of 1st dish, then came second, hadn't touched yet, then came 3rd dish. When waitress brought 4th dish, I had to say, hey, can you slow down, I can't enjoy anything and pointed to the uneaten food. Food was okay, nothing stood out. Sorry, had no standout favorites. I've had American and Japanese Wagyu many times other places. Grilled Wagyu trio was fine, nothing special. Worst dish #1: SRF AMERICAN WAGYU BEEF TONGUE Thin Cut x2 PCS * Scallion Kosho Tongue had an off-putting gamey smell and taste. Texture was rubbery, tough and kind of crunchy. Disgusting, one bite, spit out. Told waitress it's inedible. She admitted, yes it's supposed to be med rare and kind of crunchy. Replaced it with slice of short rib. Worst dish #2: A5 KAGOSHIMA RIBEYE Poached Egg * Maldon Sea Salt * Yakiniku The egg was 75% raw and not properly poached. I told Aeko and he said that's the way it's supposed to be. I showed him the slimy raw clear egg whites that looked like mucous I just blew out of my nose, if I had a cold. Disgusting. I asked if he could exchange it for a properly poached egg w fully cooked whites and egg yolk soft, but not raw. He refused to accomodate, stated curtly, no, that's the way it's supposed to be and scurried off. Jeffrey came to the rescue! He could see interaction was frustrating me, and offered to replace egg. Came back with new one, asked if it was satisfactory, which it was. Jeffrey had grilled my steak trio earlier. He is the best server: kind, patient, friendly and respectful. The 3 waitresses were fine, no standouts. If Jefferey hadn't intervened I would've given 1 star because Aeko was unlikeable from the beginning, rushing me, walking away while I'm still talking and refusing to replace that awful raw egg. Dessert was 50/50. Loved the VANILLA GELATO AND SATSUMA ORANGE GRANITA. Refreshing and delightful. MATCHA BALL: was disappointing. Outside was like matcha white chocolate. Inside was room temp matcha tea, expected it to be cold and icy. And annoyed the blond haired Asian waitress gave me an ominous warning and said it twice as if talking to a non-obedient kid. She said, we recommend to eat Matcha Ball in One Bite with your Mouth Closed. I said okay. She said again, Eat in One Bite With Mouth Closed. Then said this in a Very Stern Tone with finger pointed at me: Just So You Know, You've Been Warned!
