Located off Pico Bl. In Los Angeles. Parking lot is very small only like 6 spaces and it's shared with Shawarma restaurant on the lot. Street parking is available as well. Came here with HS friends to meet up with our good HS buddy from Israel. He chose the restaurant since it has to be Kosher and this place is prepared Kosher properly. The place is not too big and it gets packed on the weekends. The service and staff were friendly and helpful our server was great she was helpful and chatted with us from time to time all in good fun. We started with crab cakes and Garlic edamame both were excellent. Then we ordered our main meal I got the rainbow roll it was good and tasty. Prices were not too bad for sushi. Overall this was a good place I'd come back here when my buddy is back in town to visit for sure.

Sushiko sushi is consistently delicious. I ordered my food to-go. I got tempura and sweet potato fries and the crunchy roll. My dining companions got the caterpillar and sweet potato roll which I tasted as well. The food was really fresh and full of flavour. The crunchy roll had imitation crab, crab tempura, cucumber, avocado, radish sprouts, tempura flakes, and sweet sauce. It is under "cooked rolls". It was really delicious. I really love the tempura crunch in my sushi. It was a light meal. I would order something more to go with it next time. The fries and tempura were also very good but the portions are small one serving sizes so next time I would get a full order for myself and not share. I don't think they were meant for more than one person. I definitely had room in my tummy for more. The caterpillar and sweet potato rolls are vegetarian. I love that they offer so many really flavourful veggie options here. I would definitely order these again. They are also a light meal. Sushiko has a parking lot which is convenient for pick up. They also deliver. Kosher. Shellfish free.

As someone with a shellfish allergy... I thought I'd never have a California roll again. So blessed to learn about sushiko, not only do I have to worry about not dying but also it's pretty good! The not dying is a hugeeee plus

I'm honestly surprised how empty this restaurant was when I arrived. Empty, quiet, but clean and relaxed. Scared me a little but that scare completely went away once they brought the crab cakes out. They were beautifully presented and the mango on top created such a sweet flavorful bite. I've never had crab cakes like this and will definitely have to order again. I'm sorry I can't recall the other rolls I ordered but as you can see in the photos, none of them should let you down and should be tried. I drove from Long Beach to LA to try these and I'm very happy I did. I ended with the ice cream tempura, they did not have vanilla and recommended strawberry ice cream instead which did not disappoint. They also have tvs set up where you are able to watch what the sushi chef is whippin up! So cool Some loud and obnoxiously rude customers showed up after us and made me sad people treat others so rudely. The workers kept their cool and continued with their professionalism. I give them props.

The salmon poke bowl was terrific but needed the sauces. The popcorn shrimp roll was once again outstanding.

This place was surprisingly really good! There's a really small parking lot in front, but plenty of street parking nearby. The rolls were a decent size and good tasting Each roll was $15.50-$22 which is definitely on the pricier side in terms of general food, but I guess all sushi is expensive these days Service was really friendly, quick, and casual! You can even watch your food being made on the TVs they have on the wall which was cool! Definitely a cool spot to try.

One of the best sushi spots I've had a in a while actually. We didn't really do any appetizers and went straight in for the fish. Started off with a couple of hand rolls, we did the crab hand roll and O toro hand roll. Crab hand roll wasn't as impressive, I've had better to be honest. I didn't let that experience ruin it for me because the toro hand roll was delicious. I think they add a piece of mint and it complimented the hand roll. Very crunchy nori wrapper and good rice to fish ratio. For our sushi we started with chu toro tuna, salmon belly, and halibut. Super fresh melt in your mouth quality. Halibut was interesting with the truffle, first time definitely won't be the last. We ended it with red snapper and black snapper. Absolutely amazing, I think the black snapper or the red snapper was slightly charred. It was so good. To say the least, this restaurant was worth it!

When I made reservations on the phone I asked about the latest reservation and confirmed 10 pm - however I asked if I could sit at the bar and they said not at that time since they closed at 11. When we arrived, there was a couple coming in at 10 and sat at bar...maybe just miscommunication but tha could have prevented us from consuming our food quick and skipping on alcohol since the table we got was not the best. Sushi felt very fresh and there's something about the way they make the rolls that feels different about other places (not sure if in a good way) Great staff and sushi chefs- they were super fast moving from one course to the next one.

The chefs here were a lot more personable and fun with more of a bar vibe than a traditional omakase. Service was great, dedicated bartender was great, and though it's not the best sushi I've ever tasted, I would still bring someone back here for a unique experience. I turned to Yelp for help and that - as always - was the right move! Izakaya Gazen is a chain, originating out of Tokyo with locations also in Honolulu and Little Tokyo, L.A. It's got the true feel of an izakaya (Japanese pub or if you read the Japanese characters, Stay-Drink-Place). The name Gazen refers to the chain and the "Gazen style food - approachable and shareable. Izakaya Gazen is known for its house made creamy tofu, often eaten with soy sauce and wasabi - and it was very delicious. Unlike the izakayas I visited in Japan, I didn't have to remove my shoes here - kind of nice, but I miss the true Japanese tradition. One tradition I appreciated was the large format Japanese beers (we chose Asahi) and the small, chilled glasses to pour into. I haven't found this Japanese touch on the glasses anywhere else in the USA. Usually, I have to ask for an old-fashioned glass or a juice glass and the servers just don't understand that this is how you drink from a large bottle in Japan. As with all Japanese dining establishments in Japan, you're warmly greeted the moment you enter, by the sushi chefs and the servers alike with "Konnichiwa!". It's a cultural thing in Japan and one I wish was more prevalent in the USA. Our server was delightful and seated us at a window table. We examined the excellent menu and went with two offerings - the Chirashi Sashimi Bowl and the Tempura Bowl - both served with a small sample of their creamy tofu, a tray of appetizers, miso soup, and a salad. A really good value ($32 and $25, respectively). I rated both of them five-star for presentation, taste, and the very fresh nature of the food. It was an outstanding hirugohan (lunch)! There are lots of great places to eat in DTLA, but we're seriously considering another visit to Izakaya Gazen this evening!
