Caterpillar toll, popcorn shrimp, edame, miso soup
Wendy T.

Great food! The caterpillar roll was fresh and tasty. The popcorn shrimp came on a roll. The edame is our granddaughters favorite. Every dish was presented well. Loved the fancy peeled orange. Service was excellent. The inside is really cute. Parking to the west of the building.

The exterior of Sushibucks seemed kind of forbidding to me so it took a while for me to try it. I've been a few times now and every time I go in I kick myself for not eating here more often! The service is friendly and kind, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is just calm and relaxing. Today I tried the lemon roll and it was exactly what I wanted.

So happy we found this spot! We've been looking for some good, authentic udon, ramen, and sushi. This place has a wide range of options for you to choose from. Plenty of sushi rolls and different soups - both Korean and Japanese. It's a clean, cozy spot perfect for a quick lunch break or a catch-up dinner with an old friend. There's parking spots right up front where you pay per hour.

Random find on a Sunday evening and glad to have found Sushibucks. It's a small place with a sit & order at the front when you're ready kind of place. Service and ambiance is friendly, clean, and welcoming. Reasonable prices. Delicious sushi and ramen soups. We ordered the KPop roll, Popcorn shrimp roll, New Mexican roll, Lion King roll, gyozas, and Miso Ramen with beef bulgogi. Each dish is recommended. Only complaints are: - the popcorn shrimp only came with one popcorn shrimp on top of each sushi piece. Normally when we order sushi with the same/similar name, there would actually be a pile of "popcorn" pieces. - KPop roll, the beef bulgogi was unexpectedly slightly chilly and not warm or hot. It would've been nice if the meat was warm to eat The little one was excited and eager to have the complimentary orange bear they give at the end of dinner. It was cute. He also likes the strawberry vanilla ice cream. I liked the Sesame balls. Would definitely recommend and consider returning.

Yummmy! Salmon rolls and Yakisoba were amazing! Located right across from UNM off of central, Sushibucks has a very convenient parking lot and you can order for dine in or takeout. We were in a hurry so grabbed takeout. It was made promptly and fresh to order! Prompt service, kind staff and well appointed dining room! I was surprised the parking lot was so full and that there were so many people having lunch but after tasting our food, it's obvious why!

I love this place! It is simple, delicious, authentic food without the film flam of the competitors. Have eaten in and ordered to go with equally great service. Their venue is neatly decorated. They time your meal so that you're not overwhelmed with food all at once. Excellent spice level for the ramen. I'll keep returning!

One of my favorite sushi spots in Albuquerque, Sushibucks is always a relatively affordable option with great service and good bites. I want to reiterate that the staff is always so sweet, they're really friendly and I've never gotten a little bear at the end of my meal. I highly recommend dining in, but you can always eat out of course. One of my favorite things to get is the kimbap but really you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. They've got great bowls and great rolls.

Delicious sushi. You order at the front but sit down like a regular restaurant. Reasonable prices. Very good. Highly recommended. See photos. Very cool ice cream sandwich dish too. Yum.

The cutest small restaurant , the lemon roll and jurashi bowl are to die for. The staff is super friendly , they have made my day every time I've eaten here.

On our way to traveling to Atlanta this area wasn't enough Asian restaurant. We looking for eat something Asian food because my friend wanted eat rice. I found out this restaurant on the Yelp.only few restaurants around our hotel. We entered this place without hope. We just wish for nothing bad quality. But there was some great point. Have to order at the front. My friend go there order. Shrimp Denbbura udon for me and bulgogi sushi roll for us. I felt little cold so my friend ordered soup for me. So sweet! Bulgogi sushi roll(3/5)- it was ok but wish less sweet. Udon(2/5)-udon was over cooked but udon base soup was ok. Dumplings(2/5)- after tried eat this definitely I know what kind of dumpling they used. It's good but I hope dumplings quality is better? I first time saw use fried dumplings used very well know Korean brand. That brand dumplings are only pupouar made dumpling soup. Not a fried. Desert it was so nice. Complimentary. So cute We thought this place owner was not a Korean but they spoke Korean to each other because of my dog , we got to know they are Korean. Our dog is service animal and she super quiet while in the bag. Was surprised found Korean owed restaurant in this area. Unbelievable! They are very friendly. I hope they get little more better and getting popular Korean Japanese restaurants around this area. They have a lot of menu we did not try everything but if I have plan for travel this area again I will try other food here!

I kept hearing about this place from a reasonable number of foodie groups in town so before my most recent popejoy show I decided I was going to give it a try since I was going to be in the area. It is in the row of restaurant fronts that all look very similar over by the university so make sure you find the right door! The place is pretty small with only a few tables and a style where you order at the counter and they bring you your food. I got the salmon poke bowl which came with miso soup and my friend got bulgogi bibimbap. The poke came with a good sized helping of the fish which was well seasoned some egg sashimi, roe, seaweed salad and avocado among other tasties over rice. It was all quite delicious and very filling. My friend enjoyed the bulgogi or at least it disappeared as quickly as my poke bowl! There are quite a few options on the menu I need to go back and try - like the sushi - all in all I was quite pleased with my experience.

It is not the biggest restaurant, and is popular, so I would recommend being prepared to wait during "popular busy time" but it is so worth the wait. So I also recommend waiting. The staff is always pretty friendly and accommodating. I shared an app, a roll and an order of salmon sashimi with a friend on both visits. The food is always fresh, and delicious! I never feel like I am being overcharged for what I get either. Going to eat for sushi can feel like that sometimes. The quality of the food is great and everything is always aesthetically pleasing as well. I had their avocado bomb on my last visit and I was delightfully surprised with it. I like avocado in most cases, but sometimes, it can be a lot at one. I thought this was going to be like that when I saw it, but I was wrong. I look forward to getting one of these on my next visit! On my last visit my friend and I saved room for a dessert, one that we saw rotating on their screens that they have in the restaurant showcasing some of the menu items. It was a take on a bananas foster. It looked delicious but alas, we'll see if we can manage to get it next time. Note to self, have dessert first on next visit?

The final price (paying with cash) was $102.32 before the tip, which seems very fair given the size of the portions and the quality. The fish was not the very highest quality, but it was very good. The wasabi was some of (if not) the best that I've ever had. The soy and eel sauces were made in-house, and were excellent. Presumably, the rest of the sauces were house-made as well. Leo was a very good and friendly server. The atmosphere was very relaxed but could be suitable for something fancier. The one thing that hurts is the price; as fair as it is, I do wish that it were a smidgen less.

The two rolls I ordered were better than last time. One was The Green Dragon (i think) using Avacado instead of seaweed. The other was Lobster Dance which is scallops and lobster. The Green dragon was okay. The Lobster Dance would have been a lot better without the overpowering sauce. The nigir were okay, but I prefer my nigiri to not have a lot sauce and all three I ordered were heavily covcered in their cloying (oyster based?) sauce. The Monkey Balls were meh, I've had way better here. The Seaweed Salad was excellent which I think was true last time. I guess I still need to try the in restaurant experience, but based on the food alone I'm not sure it would be great. If anyone has a great place they like let me know!!!

Soy sauce is in nearly…read moreeverything, menus aren't always clear, and I'm usually stuck asking a ton of questions or avoiding places altogether. That's why Sakura Sushi & Grill stood out right away. They clearly label gluten-free options on the menu. They also offer gluten-free soy sauce, which is a huge win. Even better, they have lunch specials with gluten-free options, which is rare. It's located in Riverside Plaza in Albuquerque, just past the river on the west side. I ordered the Sushi Lunch A with premium fish and chose the double salmon roll. Everything was incredibly fresh and delicious, and the portions were great for the price. The miso soup that comes with lunch isn't gluten-free, but they brought me a side salad with an amazing gluten-free dressing instead. I felt confident eating here, which is not something I say often. I didn't have any reaction afterward and would absolutely eat here again. One of the coolest surprises: they make their own wasabi in-house. It's not on the menu, but if you ask, they'll bring it out, and it is absolutely worth it. We considered getting a sushi boat, but the lunch specials were a better value for lunch. If we went for dinner, we would absolutely order a boat. I also had hot sake, which paired perfectly with the meal. At the end, they even brought us a sweet cinnamon tea for my friend's birthday, even though we didn't order dessert. Service was warm and attentive the entire time. My friend has a shellfish allergy, and the server made sure her plate only included fin fish, which we really appreciated. We went around 1:30 p.m. on a Tuesday, and it was quiet with only a few other tables. The atmosphere felt calm and relaxed, with a casual, comfortable vibe that made it easy to sit and actually enjoy a conversation without feeling rushed. They close at 3 and reopen for dinner, so it's a great low-key lunch spot if you time it right. My friend also mentioned she brings her young kids here often, and the woman manager or owner is especially kind and welcoming to them. I enjoyed this place so much that I called my husband on the way home to tell him all about it. We're already planning to go back with our kids, which will make this my second visit in one week. If you're gluten-free, this place is a gem. And even if you're not, the quality, service, and overall experience make it absolutely worth a visit.

Unfortunately, the fraudulent business practices taint, every other aspect of the meal. This will…read morebe discussed near the end. To start off with the food, it is very average. For the price, you would expect much higher quality food. However, when every dish cost $21 after tax, it is definitely not worth the price. Most of the dishes are dripping with oil. For example, some of the noodle and curry dishes are literally sitting in a tub of oil. The orange chicken uses frozen, perfectly cubed pieces of chicken. I wish they used the actual pieces of chicken, again as the price you pay does not attest to the quality. Red curry is ok but the flavor is very mild. Chicken satay is quite dry and needs all the sauce it can get. Sticky rice mango is a pitiful portion for the price. They even promote fraudulent advertising by showing a giant portion of sticky rice mango with an entire mango on their menu, however, the portion you get is less than half of one mango. It is extremely fraudulent/false advertising. Another issue overall is that the restaurant adds a 3% credit card surcharge. They have signs in the restaurant stating that the credit card companies are charging the customers this extra surcharge. This is again patently false. Credit card companies charge a surcharge to businesses who wish to accept credit cards. This is a normal cost of doing business, and this should definitely not be passed on to the customers as the prices at this restaurant are already at an all-time high. Also, as other reviewers have pointed out, apparently the restaurant charges this on debit cards as well, which is again, entirely fraudulent as debit cards do not charge any transactional fees. Lastly and probably the biggest issue is when they miss items in your order. For example, at the restaurant, I ordered a dessert along with my meal. At the end, it was discovered that the dessert never actually arrived, however, I was charged for it. The restaurant refunded the dessert, however, they only refunded the amount prior to the 3% credit card surcharge that they charged me. This means, the restaurant did not refund the extra 3% That they charged me originally for the dessert! They got to keep an extra 3% of money for intentionally messing up an order which again is fraudulent. This is something that will have to be filed with the FTC as who knows how many others they have scammed out of 3% in the past. Overall, I would highly suggest avoiding this restaurant due to the food quality being poor, the prices being quite high, the extra credit/debit card surcharges, and the fraudulent activity if the restaurant has to provide a refund.
