It's great to find a Japanese/Korean Restaurant here in Nelson, BC. We have passed by a couple of times while in town and it is always buzzing with customers in the restaurant either eating in or picking-up their orders. The room is open and bright, cherry blossoms ( artificial of course ) surrounding you while you are having your sushi or yakisoba! Food is decent, both the Chicken Teriyaki Box and the Soondubu Jjigae (Soft Tofu with Seafood Spicy Soup), meets the standards in most similar restaurants in Vancouver, so if you are travelling through and have a craving for some sushi, rolls or donburi they have it all. Boss recommended to try their "Sake Cloud" cocktail, its refreshing, with a hint of coconut cream to give you a feel of Pina Colada without the pineapple. read more

Mostly had some simple rolls as my partner has dietary restrictions, plus one very tasty fruity vegetarian roll- forgot the name. Service was attentive and the restaurant interior was very pretty too- all those flowers! But it's definitely on the expensive end for sushi. Just ordered sushi for my wife's birthday, and the loser sushi chefs rolled Wasabi in her rolls. If I could I'd not even give them a star. Piss poor service, don't waste your time with these people. read more

Had some spicy tuna rolls and a hurricane roll, there today for lunch on the patio! The sushi was perfect; we'll be back!

I'm not even sure why the one star. They don't deserve any to be honest. First plate was basically throw on the table at us. We actually had to ask for something to eat with, no chop sticks and when we did ask we got take out wooden ones. Seriously it was supposed to be a nice sit down meal. Terrible! Ive been to Japan not authentic but I was hungry the other day and stopped in. I asked to be seated in a quiet booth which I was. I was asked by the waitress to find her to let her know when I was ready. When I figured out what I wanted I went to look for the waitress as I was asked. I was looking around for her and chatting a bit with people behind a counter who were smiling. I was looking for my waitress when another one came barging up to me yelling "we come to your table"! You nee to get seated! I was trying to tell her I had already been seated and was looking for the waitress as I was asked to do. This waitress was so loud I had to raise my voice to be heard! She was not listening and kept yelling over top of me! I said I'm leaving, lived in Nelson 23 years never been so poorly treated in a restaurant ever! She kept yelling telling me to sit down! I got disoriented and forgot what booth I was in and a customer reminder me of where I was. I collected my belongings and left and I'll NEVER go back. They don't use decent soy sauce their deep fried stuff drips in grease and if it didn't happen to be right where I was or I wasn't hungry I would never have gone in and I'll never return. Disappointed in the food and disappointed in the customer service. My household and I have been trying to support local as much as we can during COVID. We thought we would have a nice sushi night in and order from Sushi Wood Nelson. We drove 20+ minutes to get the food and then waited an additional 20+ minutes. All good, until we noticed our order was grossly wrong and we were over charged for our order once home and divided. Because there is 4 of us ordering we often write it on a piece of paper before ordering, so we know exactly what we ordered and how to divide it. When we finally got our order home we noticed several items where missing and were a bit disappointed. When we called to express our concern, we were met with nothing but aggression, blame and rude behaviour from the manager on duty. We called twice, and both times were met with rude comments, blame on our ordering and rude comments towards my mother I will never ever order from here again, covid or not... and urge others to take careful care of their orders. Because we KNOW EXACTLY WHAT WE ORDERED and in this situation it doesn't matter, we are wrong and stupid, and couldn't meet a middle ground when speaking about this order. So disappointed, so sad and kind of hurt by the way this man talked to me. Careful out there, record what you order, write it down, take photos because they do not admit blame or fault. Solid meal, service was minimal but they kept checking in which is nice. Take out options at door we're pretty popular with walk out rolls. Had the chicken Yakisoba which had a hint of spice to it which was great. Veges were fresh. Nice meal read more

We went their last minute when another reservation fell through. Food was fresh fast and hot (or cold depending on what we ordered. Fresh ingredients and friendly service. Vegetable tempura was particularly good as well as spicy pork gyoza. read more

New favourite restaurant! The ramen and kimchi rice was amazing. We ordered kimchi fried rice, beef ramen, donguri, and some crazy boys (deep fried california roll, essentially). All were delicious! The tuna nigiri made my mouth melt, as did the bits of beef in my ramen. Sushi Wood's kimchi rice is delicious, quite simply put. The perfect amount of spice. read more

worst place ever!!!!! sushi rice is too sweet and mushy fish wasnt that fresh the bibimbap was waaay over priced and the server forgot my kimchi side dish hopefully this restaurant will close down soon read more
