I'm rounding up to 4 STARS on account of their garlic edamame. Freaking. Amazing. I arrived here around 5:15 PM or so and was seated promptly. The employees who greeted me were nice enough. They do not have Happy Hour apparently, but that's no problem. I can make it work. I decided to order their garlic edamame and Salmon Nigiri. The edamame was amazing. So darn good. All the garlic which makes everything better. It was served very hot. I was very impressed. The Nigiri was good. A small amount of Ginger was included, and I asked for a side of Spicy Mayo. I was given a very small amount of the Spicy Mayo but I made it work also. :) I guess all in all it was a good enough experience. If I'm in the area again though I may try something else. What is there to say about a place called "Sushi Teri" that does not marinate its teriyaki meat dishes or slice them rather thinly? I'm from Hawaii,3rd gen born/raised. Raised on teriyaki steak prepared by 80 year-old Mama-sans born in Japan, so I KNOW my teriyaki. Sushi Teri brushes it on or dips the meat in the marinade. By their own admission. Teriyaki Marinade infuses the meat with delicious flavors and and AND tenderizes it. Otherwise you have shoe leather on with a vague hint of some sauce. Never again. Sadly. Used to love eating here but last week something was not right. We were seated promptly and offered beverages that arrived quickly followed by our order being taken, miso soup then... We waited. And waited. Different people checked on our beverages but no food. I understand staff shortages, food shortages, and other challenges faced by restaurants is days. This was not that. There were plenty of wait people, kitchen staff, and the restaurant was not packed so, what happened? Our sushi entrées arrived without wasabi or ginger. When we asked for it our server acted like that was something extra. My salad had no dressing. It was also slimy so I didn't end up eating it once I figured that out. One of us received the wrong order but didn't send it back because they were too hungry to return it. Perhaps the most disconcerting thing was that the manager, who kept coming to check on us without actually helping, wore his mask below his nose. Yikes! read more

California roll, Asian Beauty (fried tempura roll), fried chicken, cabbage salad (big hit), tempura veggies and a spicy tuna roll for 4 people. Plenty of food! Per some of the reviews, I would also be leery of the fresh sushi. Just didn't seem like this place is turning over product fast enough. Wait person was great, on top of everything and very kind. I love Japanese fried chicken, I cant explain it but it is so good. This was perfect. We did soy wraps on the California Roll, it was tasty. All in all, this was an enjoyable meal. 2 glasses of wine, sake, all the food above and our bill was less than $75.00 for 4. Not bad. This is the worst Sushi Teri I've been too. The Goleta and Santa Barbara area are a lot better. Was highly disappointed with the amount of fish that are in and out of these rolls. Not to mention how much more expensive the rolls are. I was disappointed that we spent $30 for 2 tiny rolls. read more

We have ordered from Sushi Teri 2x in the last two weeks. Both times our food was delicious. My husband ordered the Carpinteria roll and both times it was made exactly as described and was delicious. Sushi is hard to do for take out and the first time I was late so the roll wasn't as hot as it should have been. Yesterday I was waiting and the roll was brought to me and in front of my hubby within 5 minutes. It was piping hot and perfect, per him. We had the Gyoza and miso soup; both great. I had some sushi a la carte and a veggie roll. All was good. The food was packed safely and we got the necessary sides (ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce) in each order without asking. Cool, refreshing sushi and bubbly Sapporo draft. Hot, earthy miso soup and--not this time, but sometimes--a warm, comforting shot of sake. It's like I'm sunning myself on a scooped out rock in a Japanese garden, while the birds chat about the bees. I saw albacore torpedos, shooting across the tropics, and then a yellowtail pageant stretching from Japan to Hawaii. There was a scallop quartet, making noise in the sand, and clouds of shrimp making fun of their outfits. I felt fast and frenzied underwater activity while sitting perfectly still.
