Tucked inside the stunning Rosewood Miramar Beach Hotel, this spot is as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the palate. The setting is coastal luxury at its best -- ocean breezes outside, an elegant, high-end ambiance inside. We stopped here on our way home from a weekend in Carmel, a little road-weary and just looking for something relaxing. What we got was way beyond that -- easily one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time. Service? Impeccable. Jared was our server and he set the tone -- kind, genuine, and completely on top of everything (he even chased me down when I accidentally left my credit card at the table). Food? Next-level. We went for a mix of small plates, nigiri, and rolls. The Woman of the Sea Roll was a standout -- light, refreshing, and perfectly balanced with salmon and a hint of lemon. For nigiri, we sampled uni, king salmon, red snapper, barracuda, and toro. Every piece melted in your mouth -- fresh, rich, and beautifully prepared. Even the "simple" sides like the seaweed salad, edamame, and miso soup had us impressed. And don't skip dessert. The mandarin chocolate dish was unique, bold, and the perfect finish to the meal. Between the food, the service, and the atmosphere, this place nails it. Absolute 10/10. Can't wait to come back.

Ambiance is beautiful but the sushi feel short for me. Sushi was unfortunately fishy and that was a disappointment for me. We also had the teriyaki chicken which was deliciously delightful! The drinks were phenomenal! The mochi cake was heaven!

Honestly I'm always skeptical of Michelin starred restaurants but my god did this DELIVER. Best sushi I ever had (we did a la carte and got 4 of their specialty rolls). The lobster and jalepeno one was the best I've ever had. Their service was impeccable with our server bringing me all of the hot sauces he had when I told him I eat everything with hot sauce lol I was also craving Brussels sprouts so they made a special appetizer option for me and brought me my Brussels sprouts! Vibe was also so nice, in the rosewood hotel underneath tree/lights lit up at nighttime. Super cute patio. They also brought us complimentary matcha eclair type dessert when we told them we were celebrating! I don't always give five stars to places but this one really deserves it bc not one thing was off. Everything met our expectations :) def coming back when we come back to montecito/santa Barbara.

For the sushi enthusiast or just someone who love great food, I highly recommend the omakase AMA Sushi dinner. The other night we went out and from start to finish the dinner was an amazing experience. Hats off to Chef Daniel for taking care of us and the delicious he prepared. Every course was amazing from the appetizers to each roll. The rolls had a fresh ocean taste and were unique in their own way. The two desserts to end the meal were even complimentary of the meal as well. The setting was intimate with only 8 people in the room and getting to talk to the chef and asking him questions about each dish. 5 stars and would definitely go back again!

Pre Fixe: sushi and 1 cut roll (Dungeness crab roll)

AMA did it again. Second visit this year but went for the pre fixe menu this time and WOW! This might be the best sushi restaurant, maybe even best restaurant, in town. I love the prefix menu because it gave me a little taste of everything. We started off with the seared tuna and king salmon and the quality of the fish is unmatched. Next round was the large plates. I ordered the sake cod and was appalled that my husband ordered the chicken teriyaki, but let me tell you, I'm so glad he did. The cod was cooked to perfection and you could taste the premium sake marinade. I don't know what he did to this chicken teriyaki, but it was as if I was eating high-quality picking duck. It was so juicy while the chicken skin was crispy. I literally could cry over the chicken. Service is always on point. We will definitely be back soon since they changed it over to their spring menu.

OUBAITORI cocktail (lychee, plum, chamomile, vermouth, Japanese vodka)... heaven! So light and delicate.

Excellent service, excellent food... loved sitting at the 4-seat bar for an intimate date night (with secluded ambiance). IMPORTANT NOTE -- restaurant seating is always on the outdoor patio (thankfully they have heaters and blankets) UNLESS doing the omakase chef tasting menu, or if you can snag one of the 4 chairs at the small indoor bar. Bartender Justin had exquisite rapport (knew when to converse and when to let us enjoy our dinner). He gave excellent food descriptions + customized cocktails to our liking, and was so knowledgeable when we asked questions about Japanese whiskies, vodkas and sakes. Having relocated from LA/Palisades, I am so happy to find a sushi restaurant that is a cross between Katsuya & Nobu Malibu (quality and vibe wise) without being egregiously overpriced, which I was fearing with the restaurant being at Rosewood Miramar hotel. $28 for a spicy tuna/amberjack cut roll (8pc) not bad for an upscale sushi spot, IMO. Can't say enough good things and will absolutely be back, especially with Justin as our server/bartender. Note: Valet was free with validation from our server

Went to AMA while we were staying at the rosewood. I honestly found it to be a very average type of meal. It wasn't bad but it wasn't anything great either. We went during nye so it was a little elevated experience at $275 per person but I thought it was very average. The app course the osechi was not very good it had different items on it but I only liked the lotus root. Some of the nigiri options were great but some just fell flat! The chutoro, uni and toro with truffles were def the highlight of the meal. The soups course was also very average. Dessert also fell flat. The service and drinks were great! The head chef was also great with his attitude and the way he was preparing the sushi! I def think that AMA has potential but the flavor of the food needs to be enhanced!

I'm so glad we chose to eat at AMA Sushi. We did the 4 course meal which included zensai, mein kosu, sushi, and dessert. The price was very reasonable for the amount of food we got. I got the Maguro No Tataki which was good if you're a fish lover. I ordered the prime filet as my main dish which was delicious. It was cooked perfectly. For the sushi options, you get to select from nigiri, sashimi, or a veggie sushi roll. I got the Kani and the Yasai which I loved! The roll tasted fresh and delicious. For dessert, I tried the cheesecake which was okay, I wished there was a chocolate option! The service was outstanding! Sean and Chikara took great care of us. Sean took his time explaining the menu to us and checked on us throughout the entire night. He provided outstanding customer service and made our experience very special! The restaurant itself is really cute and cozy. I loved the vibe and ambiance. This is the perfect spot for a date night!

I came here for omakase, and I'd say it's not your traditional omakase where it's mostly nigiri pieces. There were a lot of extra courses such as soup, tempura, and veggies as well. I liked the nigiri course the most, which consisted of eight nigiri pieces. The fish was fresh, and the chefs took the time to explain each fish in detail, highlighting their unique qualities and advising us on how best to enjoy them. I also enjoyed the sashimi course, featuring red snapper, bluefin tuna, and kanpachi. The freshness of the fish was evident, and the addition of fresh wasabi was great. Each piece had its own distinct flavor profile, making it a memorable dish. I loved the creativity and uniqueness in the other courses as well, and the desserts were especially good. Note that most things were already seasoned and not intended to be consumed with traditional soy sauce and wasabi. Personally, I would have preferred a more traditional approach to sushi. For drinks, I tried the Yugen cocktail, which caught my attention due to its combination of yuzu and champagne. However, it ended up tasting predominantly like sake, with an overwhelming rice flavor. It was a bit too strong for my liking. The interior of Ama Sushi exuded a fancy ambiance, and I enjoyed the overall vibes. The pace of the meal was well-maintained, with a suitable amount of pauses between each course. It lasted about two hours for us. Overall, Ama Sushi provided a great and very unique dining experience. The variety of courses was impressive, although I did wish there were more traditional nigiri and sashimi offerings. Considering the amount of raw fish provided, I found the price to be a little on the higher side, despite the exceptional taste.

Every time I stay at Rosewood Miramar, I book Omakase at AMA Sushi. I love the cozy lighting and the atmosphere feels calm. You feel taken care of as soon as you are seated with the diligent care of the staff. Each dish served has unique and memorable flavors. I enjoyed talking with the chefs every time, they're kind and bubbly.

Chef Scott making the ngiri course.

I had dinner here with a friend at the 8p seating for pearl omakase with sake pairing. This was a phenomenal experience with delicious food every one of the 6 courses. Chef Scott was an absolute gentleman in the way he welcomed us and was very interactive with me and the other guests sitting at the bar. He answered my questions and explained his food and his concepts so clearly and kindly. Watching his hands making the ngiri was epic. There was such a rhythm to the way he crafted each peace. I do not drink much sake, but the pairing with the meal was so nice and educational and delicious. The service from entering the restaurant was attentive and added to the great experience. I highly recommend the omakase experience with Chef Scott! It was a dinner and a show that I will not forget.

I had an excellent experience at AMA. The staff is extremely professional, the sushi was fresh, the drinks were unique and tasty, and the atmosphere was sophisticated and relaxing. I went with a group of my girlfriends and we booked seats at the sushi bar for the Omakase experience. We booked the first (of two) seating's at 5:30pm, the second seating was at 8:30, so you have 3 hours of a tasting experience - and we used the whole 3 hours! I really enjoyed this Omakase experience, our sushi chef, Scott, was very friendly and made an effort to include us in his process as well as explain in depth what we were eating. I really wish I took notes, but I wanted to fully enjoy my experience. The raw fish here was so fresh, the highlight for me was the Suma Ika which is a small squid. There were a lot of unique bites in the tasting, another interesting one was fish liver...which was really decadent. Our waiter, Jonathan, was also extremely attentive and was available for anything we needed. When we got settled he came around and asked us what we wanted to drink, a few girls got their valentines specialty cocktail, some others got rose, but one friend and I asked Jonathan what cocktail he would recommend to compliment the sushi. He made the best rec, the Boketto. After my one friend and I got this drink, the rest of the girls hopped on board and 1/2 way through the meal we were all sipping on the Boketto cocktail. It is so light and refreshing, yet unique. Would highly recommend to compliment any sushi dish. I was so thrilled with this experience and will definitely be back. Next time I will have to try some of their a la carte items, as they all looked great coming out of the kitchen as well,

    Masunosuke dish was delicious

Ok - just to clarify - there's TWO different ways to book AMA Sushi. Booking A LA CARTE means you'll be seated at a table (probably outside) and you'll be able to go through the menu at your base. Booking Omakase Experience is something totally different and usually has 2x sittings a night. SO, if you mess up (like I did), you may be disappointed expecting the Experience when you're just going to be ordering items at your leisure. With that out of the way, I pulled a classic ADD booking manuever: first, I didn't book the Experience, and second, I showed up on the WRONG night :+) Classic! They were able to accommodate the second mistake but the experience bookings were taken but we made do. The waiter was super knowledgeable despite being a young guy (I heard him say he was 21 to another table). He had a firm grasp of the menu and everything we ordered we enjoyed. Strong flavors and I was pleasantly surprised to see the menu was priced reasonably and not significantly overpriced for the bougee-ness of Montecito / Miramar. We ordered a couple of the drinks which presented well and were flavorful (Hinode and Tsukimi), the Namagaki which was really tasty, the Asari Miso which was "eh" for flavor but not sure you can do much - it tastes like Miso. We continued on the the Masunosuke, enjoyed the unique taste of the Ebi & Vegetable tempura, and concluded with the Hamachi Jalapeno and the Nigiri Toro. It was really delicious, filling, and we felt satisfied leaving. We'll be back for what I thought I was booking too ;+)

    Beautiful presentation of delicious food

How do you make reservations for omakase? I used the online option and got a regular reservation instead and noted that there was only three reservations for the slots.

How much is their omakase? And are they very strict on the dress code? Also do they let patrons order to go?

Every bite tasted clean and high quality, making it a solid choice for anyone looking to enjoy a range of seafood in one dish. I also ordered the Ultimate 10, which features ten pieces of premium nigiri. While the fish itself was certainly fresh, I found it difficult to justify the $80 price tag. There was nothing wrong with the quality, but the overall experience didn't quite feel proportionate to the cost. If you're looking to maximize value, I'd probably steer toward some of the other menu offerings instead. I love uni (sea urchin) and it was particularly fresh, creamy, and rich without being overly briny. Another surprise was the Gold Shot, featuring quail egg, uni, chives, and ponzu. The combination works beautifully, delivering a burst of creaming, savory, and bright flavors in a single bite. The Popcorn Rock Shrimp was also a winner, crispy and satisfying without feeling overly heavy. The Wakame salad (seaweed) was also refreshing making it a great palate cleanser between some of the richer dishes. The Wokked Edamame was also quite yummy with the garlic chile sauce. The restaurant was bustling during my visit, creating a lively atmosphere that reflected its popularity. Despite how busy it was, the staff remained friendly, and welcoming, and attentive. Be sure to make reservations. Overall, Arigato delivers on freshness and quality, which is ultimately what matters most at a sushi restaurant. While I wasn't completely sold on the value of some of the higher priced items, there were enough standout dishes throughout the meal to make it a worthwhile visit. I'd happily return and explore more of the menu on a future visit.

Silvers Omakase is a dead serious omakase sushi restaurant helmed by Lennon Silvers Lee, a white…read moreguy from Van Nuys, the San Fernando Valley neighborhood where I happened to be born. Before opening Silvers, Chef Lennon opened several restaurants with his brother, including Sushi by Scratch in Montecito, one of the best places you can eat in Santa Barbara. Scratch is now a national empire, with dozens of restaurants in several states. Lennon branched off to do something just as ambitious, in a different direction: this beautiful, Michelin-starred, ten-seat sushi bar, where everything is honed and polished to his exacting standards. We booked Silvers for an early Valentine's Day dinner, a luxurious Thursday date night. Our reservation was for the second seating, at 8:15, but we were informed there would be champagne in the waiting room should we decide to arrive at 8:00. We had babysitting, so we were there at 8:00 sharp to claim our welcome drinks. The waiting room was comfortable, and we enjoyed hanging out and meeting the other diners. When Chef Lennon was ready, we were ushered in and led to our seats, which were designated with name cards. The chef introduced himself and his small, mighty staff. They were a wonderful team, and they took great care of us throughout the meal. Seems worth noting, too, that they all seemed to like each other and admire Lennon. The menu was 100% omakase, so the only decision we had to make was what to drink with our sushi. We went for the standard sake pairing, and this was excellent, a nice variety of sakes, each chosen to accompany two or three courses. The pours were about three ounces each, but we quickly learned that they'd get topped up if we finished them early. The food was outstanding, and I enjoyed hearing Lennon talk about where it all came from with such obvious passion and expertise. I guess most of the fish is sourced from Japan, though he gets some of it local, plus a lot of his produce. His rice comes from a very specific place in Japan that supplies no other restaurant in America, and Lennon and his team prepares it through a laborious-sounding process. The resulting rice was genuinely superb. But first, we enjoyed a few sashimi dishes. Kurodai in a citrus broth with bitter soy and a touch of yuzu kosho, then kanpachi brushed with soy sauce with a dollop of fresh wasabi on the side. Hotate came with daikon sprouts and navel orange zest in a light house dashi. Then we had kelp-cured buri cooked briefly in shabu broth, served with daikon and shiso flowers. At this point, we were given house pickled ginger then taken on a nigiri journey. We had madai, kinmedai, shima-aji, nodoguro, and saba--so much beautiful, delicious fish. Then we had three superb pieces of tuna: akami, chutoro, and otoro, in order of decadence. Finally, a uni hand roll with shiso, one of my favorites of the night, and sugar-dusted Japanese Amaou strawberries for dessert. This was a lovely omakase experience. Elegant, pared down, and traditional, just premium fish and rice, meticulously prepared by Chef Lennon. If you want top tier sushi in Santa Barbara, Silvers Omakase is hard to beat.

Got seated pretty quickly, where there are various heaters to ensure comfort. Drinks were served pretty quickly. Ordered the Black Ramen (made with Black Garlic Oil) for 19.50, solid price. I enjoy the choices of meat that you can choose from, which I chose Pork Belly, and added an egg to mine. Didn't take too long for the food to come out, everything was really fresh and tasted well. The pork belly was a nice chunk too (I had expected it was going to be smaller). The broth was very delicious, which I killed the entire bowl. With the check, they also give mini Hi-Chews. Overall, great food, great seating, great service. Much Better ramen than some chain restaurants.

I think this place is much better with its ramen than sushi items, however. I really liked my tsukemen (dipping ramen) but the sushi items my family ordered were just ok. Tsukemen broth was excellent and better tasting than ones I had in the past. The broth had little bit of sweetness which contrasted well with its rich fish broth and tonkotsu broth. It was served with thick noodles, green onions, spinach, bean sprouts, baboon shoots and soft boiled egg. Protein options are pork shoulder, pork belly, or chicken. I went with pork belly, which seemed to be a very good option. My wife and kids ordered a chirashi bowl, poke bowl, and California roll. These tasted rather standard, and the chirashi bowl just tasted very monotone. It was missing something, although I can't pinpoint what it is. Service was good and fairly efficient. This place only has patio dining.

Clark's Oyster Bar is a mini-chain of seafood restaurants that started in Austin, with three of the…read moresix locations in high-rent California neighborhoods. The Montecito Clark's is on Coast Village Road, in a cheerful white stucco building trimmed in yellow and blue. I've been twice now, both times for lunch with my husband, our kids, and some permutation of grandparents. It's an easy last-minute reservation for a large, floppy party, great for everyone in our family, with an age range of three to 83. I'll admit that my three-year-old likes Clark's for the wrong reasons (primarily, that it has a prominent ceiling fan), but it is a family-friendly place, with a relaxed atmosphere and a little aquarium in front with fish that look like Nemo and Dory. There's also a secret kid's menu (you have to ask about it; our first visit, we just paid for the $18 pancakes on the regular menu), and the butter pasta is reportedly very good. I like almost any place with a kid's menu and a wine list, and Clark's is firmly in this category. There's a full bar, but I've done well with the selection of white wines--Chenin Blanc, Chablis, Sancerre, all available by the glass. Service was on the slow side our first visit but otherwise fine, and I was impressed with our waiter Andreas when we went back the weekend after last. He was patient and accommodating with our whole party, talking extensively about bread with Grandpa and answering questions about the fan for my little boy. The only problem with Clark's is that it's pretty expensive for a low-key spot, especially if you're going for lunch. I guess that's why it's in Montecito, though it certainly isn't there for old timers like my father-in-law. The food is fantastic, starting with the complimentary house sourdough, which Grandpa has declared the best bread he's had in California (where, to be clear, he's lived for 50 years). It is genuinely top tier bread, fresh and chewy with a nice crust, served with good butter and salt and beautiful little radishes. You can buy it to go for something like $16 a loaf, but it's available on demand when you dine in, and you can and should ask for more. Clark's specializes in seafood, and I've enjoyed both the jumbo shrimp cocktail and Santa Barbara uni. The shrimp cocktail comes with horseradish, seasoned saltines, classic cocktail sauce, and lemon; the uni in its spiny shell with Meyer lemon and shiso on a bed of ice. On the larger side, I'd recommend the mussels and clams in white wine and herbs, with garlic, chili flake, and a side of wood-charred sourdough. I've also liked both the lobster roll and the burger. The lobster roll comes with a heap of sweet lobster with lemon mayo, drawn butter, and bibb lettuce on a toasted bun. It comes with choice of fries or slaw, and the shoestring fries are thin and crispy. The pan-roasted black angus hamburger is a juicy burger with sauce gribiche and gruyere, with the same choice of sides. My boy keeps asking to go back to Clark's for the ceiling fan, and I suspect we'll be back soon enough, if mostly for the restaurant's other attractions. I'd recommend it if you want good wine, bread, and seafood in Montecito.

I did secure an Opentable lunch reservation, but we finished our hike earlier than I anticipated. We arrived shortly after the restaurant opened... very nice low key restaurant with seating inside at tables and a bar area along with patio seating. We chose the patio. Julian introduced himself as our server and took good care of us. We ordered quite a few Cocktails and several shareable plates, so we could try different menu items. We started off with the Santa Barbara Uni and Oyster Rockefeller then a Shrimp Cocktail. We ended with the Mussel & Clam dish along with a Clam Chowder. All the dishes were presented well and tasted good and fresh and were accompanied by a complementary loaf of Sour dough bread, which was very good. The weakest dish was the Clam Chowder which was very thin in consistency. I will say their customer satisfaction is 100%. We had an issue with one of our dishes and brought it up to the young lady that was managing and the dish was immediately remade. Thank you! Atmosphere: bright, low key relaxing feel. Service: very good. Food: good.
