Came here for my birthday and called ahead to see if they can accommodate 19 people. They did and it was perfect! We were able to sit down comfortably and eat AYCE Sushi! Extremely disappointing experience. The service at this restaurant is terrible. The servers don't even offer water until you specifically ask for it. It looks like they've hired a few young kids who have no idea what they're doing, and half of the staff can't even communicate properly in English -- not sure how they're supposed to interact with customers. On top of that, they were sweeping the floor right in front of us while we were eating -- absolutely no manners or sense of hospitality. This was our first time at Sushi Saga and we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the AYCE sushi! Food: all of the fried appetizers were good. Highly recommend the crab rangoons. All the the sushi was flavorful and very fresh, especially since it's all you can eat. I especially enjoyed the salmon nigiri. Ambiance: this is a small place in a strip mall. Definitely more of a casual spot. It's not a huge restaurant, so I can see it getting packed during peak hours. Service: our servers were very attentive and the rounds of food came out quickly. All in all, I would give this 5 stars on the AYCE sushi scale. We've been to most of these types of restaurants within about a 25 mile radius and this is probably the best one. read more

This place is so toxic! I've been coming here for years and even recommended this place to other people. It might not be the best sushi but this place is very close to my house and the price is not bad. Today, after a long time, my husband and I decided to treat ourself to All You Can Eat Sushi. We came in, everyone was fine. The waiter was nice and seated us, we ordered and we started to eat. Then, I noticed there a piece of hair on my salmon sashimi. However, I decided to not say anything because I don't want to make a big deal. I put that piece aside and continue to eat the rest of the food. As we were getting close to finish, I asked for another paper and notice the change in the nice waiter. I told my husband nicely, "what happen to her? She was so nice earlier and now she seems like she's in a bad mood." Not long after I gave my second paper, the other waiter with glasses and kind of chubby told me that they refuse to give me my second order because I did not fully eat all of my food from the first order. Mind you, I realize with all you can eat sushi places, they tend to put lots of rice on their sushi roll and all I did is took out the extra rice from each piece that I'm eating and put them to the side (I don't see anything wrong with that and plus, that's how I always eat it and they never give me a problem.. but why now?) I respond nicely regarding my concerns and she just kept on telling me that the sushi chef refuse to make my order. At this point, I just asked for the check, pay and leave. All in all, it's pretty upsetting how they're making a big deal with some pieces of rice that I took out. They're making it seem like I order lots of sushi roll/ food and not eat them. I notice that the employee tend to have problem with some of their customer and I never thought that I would be one of their customer that they attacked. The employees here, even the manager never want to be at fault. Instead, they will "roar" at you. They really made the vibe of this place feel so toxic. This is my go-to all you can eat sushi spot. The food is fresh and good quality (confirmed by a Japanese friend of mine). Their rolls are well constructed and don't fall apart on you if you happen to be a soy sauce dipper. I'm a big fan of raw fish, but I've even brought friends here who don't dabble in the uncooked options and they enjoyed it very much! The all you can eat option offers a full kitchen menu to choose from as well as the extensive sushi menu that includes specialty rolls. It's also BYOB and located in a plaza with a liquor store down the walkway, so you can grab your wine and stroll on over (I love convenience). I recommend not over ordering during your first round. If you order more than you can eat, there's a surcharge. Instead, I opt to eat in small courses to ensure my friends and I are not wasteful. We always leave full and satisfied. Also, don't worry about ordering small amounts at a time. The servers will continue to bring you kitchen and sushi menus as many times as you need them! Dessert is good too: they offer fresh tasting ice cream with these teeny tiny spoons that enhance the experience. I know that sounds silly, but if you try it you'll understand what I mean. Also, my photos don't reflect the tons of sushi rolls this place has to offer. I was accompanied by a friend who doesn't partake in sushi during my last visit, so I didn't opt to order any specialty rolls (the specialty rolls are definitely heavier and harder to finish if you're picking at a variety of what they have to offer). Have very mixed feelings about this restaurant but I will try to be fair. I should mention it's one of the few all you can eat sushi places that are operating in the area during Covid-19. That said, it's very difficult to get a table. Prepare to wait 1-2 hours, esprit a weekend. That said, the food is fabulous. They have a ton of variety for appetizers, sushi, side sides, and so on. I would really recommend trying everything you have room in your stomach to try. They actually have teriyaki red snapper which is pretty awesome. Also the sushi quality is fantastic and I have yet to try a roll I didn't like. As with most sushi places, the dessert is limited but you obviously have to try the green tea ice cream. Skip the fruit bowl. The restaurant tends to get very busy on Saturdays so plan ahead for that if you are planning to come. The restaurant itself tends to get packed. Randomly stumbled upon Sushi Saga after our first AYCE sushi option had a ridic wait. I had called and said there was no wait. We arrived and we were seated immediately. They had the usual AYCE sushi restaurant items- various sushi rolls, hand rolls, sashimi, hot appetizers, small plate dishes, and desserts. We placed our order of a few of the hot and cold apps and sushi and sashimi. And gave our completed order forms to the waiter. We loved the variety of the hot apps and omg they were all so good. The seafood medley was my favorite and it was served on a clam shell. Nice presentation. The crab rangoons were amazing with the Thai chili dipping sauce. I always get a little nervous coming to sushi as a vegetarian - never sure if there are enough options! This was a go to spot during the college days and their incredible selection can attest to why that is. I don't usually order the all you can eat buffet but they do have a vegetarian meal combo in their menu - it comes with a nice and hot miso soup and 18 pieces of sushi all for less than $12!! I usually choose the mango avocado roll, sweet potato roll (a MUSTTT whether you are vegetarian or not), cucumber roll (so refreshing and crunchy!!) and/or the avocado or peanut avocado roll. You can also ask for the items to match the timing your friends eat the all you can eat meal! I've done this couple times because if you order off the menu, your meal tends to come a loooot faster than the all you can eat orders. To finish off the meal, sometimes I order ice cream here!! Not bad, but nothing super special about it that sticks out. As always, this place has guava candy to cleanse your palette on your way out. Update: new wait staff has ruined the experience. I've been coming here since they have opened and they had great customer service. They have never charged me for having leftover food since it is only a few pieces 5-8 from a huge order of 6+ rolls. Last time I went, the new waitress was going to charge me $1 for each 2 pieces leftover. I challenged it since I have been going there for years and she gave me a huge attitude. At first I let it slide since she may have had a bad day but then she proceeded to talk about me to the other staff in her language. I am not fluent in mandarin but was able to understand enough to know she was talking about me. Anyways for the first time in my life I have left no tip. I did tip the sushi chefs as the staffing there hasnt changed and the food was still good. We ordered AYCE sushi: tuna tartar, spicy tuna roll, 3 specialty rolls, gyoza, mushroom soup, chicken tempura roll, a few pieces of tuna sushi also. Overall okay sushi, nothing spectacular. A bit concerned cause they use low quality wasabi and pickled ginger as both looked like they had food coloring in them. The tuna was bright pink and I'm used to eating it with a more natural, deeper red color. Gyoza came out soggy sadly, mushroom soup was nice (salty) but a good balance with everything. We had one special roll that we enjoyed but aside from that all of them had way too much rice packed in them. We had hot tea and water but were never offered refills. Food came out quickly but the staff hovered over our table as we were putting our coats on to leave, not a fan of that. The place looks clean otherwise and has two tvs (can't hear them) and no background music playing so you can hear the conversations next to you. One of the best all you can eat sushi spots in Jersey!!! My friends, boyfriend, and I love this place so much. The waitresses are so quick and attentive with providing more menus and refills. And the sushi itself is chefs kiss I recently started eating more sashimi and if you like something that packs a punch, I'd try the eel sashimi or mackerel. If you want something a little more subtle and a safe option, I'd try the tuna or salmon. Some of my favorite rolls are the Spider Rolls and Crunchy Eel Roll! If you have the chance to stop by and try, it's so worth it. Even though I don't live in the area anymore, I've been twice in the past couple months even though I live an hour away. My favorite AYCE sushi spot in the Edison area. Good selection of kitchen apps, sushi rolls, and sashimi. Service is usually good, but really dependent on how many people in the restaurant. Went on a snowy day yesterday and we got our food surprisingly quick. Overall, the quality of the food is above average IMO for AYCE. Favorite item from the kitchen menu is the beef ribs, which is kalbi-style--flavor is better than many Korean places I've tried. Sushi roll selections are similar to your typical AYCE, except they have one with soft shell crab, not typically offered at other spots. I find it better going with a party of at least 4 so you can try a variety of different rolls. I find myself going to AYCE exclusively now since it's a better value than a la cart spots. Let me start off with the terrible quality of food we received. My friend bit into a piece of sushi with a large piece of plastic in it. On top of that, my girlfriend got sick halfway into dinner. She eventually started to get an asthma attack to which I had to rush her to get an inhaler. On top of that, she eventually turned green and threw up. When the rest of my friends who were still at the restaurant were delegating the service and bill, the staff wanted to charge us full price despite giving my girlfriend food poisoning and leaving a piece of plastic in the food. Giving this place one star for the horrific and disorganized service and low quality sushi. Getting a table is close to impossible -- not because of it being busy rather waiting to get someone to seat you. Before I begin my spiel, I'd like to say that what would have otherwise been a positive dining experience was marred by piss-poor service: 2.5 stars for the food and 0.5 stars for the service. Came here for dinner early Sunday evening, paying the all-day weekend pricing of $23 pp + tax + tip for AYCE. 1. The food: A. Sushi menu: the sashimi is definitely more palatable (more room temperature but also more tender) than the colder and freezer-burnt raw fish from Sushi Palace. I enjoyed the albacore, pepper salmon, and white tuna sashimi. The sushi menu (everything else after sashimi) is nearly identical in layout and content to Sushi Palace's, with the exception of maybe a few special rolls that are not that special, especially since avocado is an ingredient in almost every roll. I tried the Spider Roll with soft-shell crab. B. Kitchen menu: the following menu items are not offered by Sushi Palace, but not really remarkable enough to go out of your way to try either: -Pepper Tuna: 1'' x 2'' pieces of seared tuna encrusted with pepper around the edges and lightly seasoned with sauce -Tuna Tartar: shaped into a heart, topped with an avocado slice and drenched in mustard and mayo -Rock Shrimp: supermarket shrimp that is deep-fried, topped with sesame, and soaked in sweet-and-sour sauce -Spicy Seaweed Salad: an otherwise fine seaweed salad that is drowned, again, in a mayonnaise-based spicy sauce -Short Ribs: medium well done and chewy, surprisingly not disappointing -Age Tofu (3 pieces): lightly fried tofu with benito flakes and ponzu sauce for dipping (very hot and the only item on this list I would recommend) -Fish Katsu: 3 - 4 slivers of lightly fried and breaded white fish that is more crumbs than actual fish -Peking Duck: Small but tender cuts of duck meat with leeks and way too much soy sauce (醬油膏) served open-face on a white steamed bao. 2. The amenities: -A playlist of nineties music, Adele, and Bruno Mars -Two fairly clean, single-occupancy restrooms with sticky floors -Two mounted flat-screen TVs with Optimum set top boxes 3. The service: From what I could tell, the staff from this evening included two sushi prep workers, one kitchen chef (for the hot food), one hot food runner, and three regular food runners, one of whom doubled as a hostess. If you're hoping that this establishment is not staffed by off-the-boat, off-the-books immigrants who escaped from an oppressive rural village in China just to find a better life working at sushi restaurant in NJ, you had better look elsewhere. The language barrier was only the least of the problems with service I encountered here: Service was adequate at first, then gradually deteriorated, even before the dinner rush: -My request for hot water was understood to be tap water with ice. -At least one item was left out from each order my table placed: no squid, no rock shrimp, no miso soup, and no ice cream. -Not once did a server offer to refill my water. When I asked, the girl shot me a look like I had asked her to bring me the universe on a plate. -About two hours after arriving, the hostess dropped a check on the table with a brusque "thank you". My group's pending sushi and ice cream orders were never fulfilled. The seating capacity of this business is only about half of Sushi Palace's, so I understand the urgency to move customers along, but I left feeling neglected, disrespected, and more importantly--still hungry. The food may have been better than Sushi Palace's, but Sushi Palace staff never pushed me out at the 2-hour mark. My guess is that Sushi Saga's profit margins can't really sustain too many experienced, marathon eaters--and is hoping that you and your friends will pay $28 a head to eat less than your money's worth. My experience was really anything but a saga: the food was slightly better than expected but punctuated by serious lapses in customer service by inattentive and apathetic wait staff who have no regard for restaurant hospitality. I've had a 3 for 3 history of sushi buffets randomly taking the day off on my birthday (not a holiday, so I did kinda want to check to make sure they were open before I trekked out here. This is probably the point where I should mention that I'm using singular pronouns because I went here on my own ("Party of 1! I'll start light, with 40 pieces of sashimi and 3 rolls, please!") I even wore sweat pants for the occasion, for maximal expansion opportunities. The chef probably thinks I'm a monster. (I'm sorry!) I also got to take advantage of the Yelp $10 for $5 deal, so my meal came out to $25 including tax and tip on a Saturday evening! Not bad, considering that I ate 100 pieces of sushi/sashimi, along with a bowl of green tea ice cream and some fresh fruit! Service here was quick and they were very courteous. At no point was I given the hairy eyeball for pounding down sushi like nobody's business, nor was I cursed at in Mandarin. :D I'd call that a win. Sushi Saga used to be my go-to for AYCE sushi. Reasonably priced, sushi rolls fresh and yummy and a nice selection. Of the many times I've been here the service was never anything to write home about.. servers not super friendly (fine by me, we don't need to be friends, as long as they aren't rude), but never had much of an issue. Just ate here for dinner on a Wednesday night, somewhat busy but they seemed well staffed (maybe about 5 servers for the roughly 20 tables in the place), never more than one or two parties waiting to be seated, but service was hot mess express. Seems like there is no communication between servers and a whole lot of confusion about what plates go to what tables. Saw on multiple occasions servers wandering around asking half the restaurant if a particular plate was their order. Maybe label the tables with numbers or come up with some solution so you don't have to bring the same plate of crab Rangoon to every table looking for it's owner ‍‍‍ Anyway... our server was VERY friendly and kind but pretty clueless. First round of sushi comes out quickly, no issues. Second round is taking significantly longer.. didn't worry about it since there were more customers at this point. We noticed the large party was seated next to us got a large plate with tons of hand rolls and masago that looked a bit too coincidental that we ordered the same thing. Our table could hear the chatter of the table next to us and we could deduce that they received the wrong order, but maybe they didn't realize it wasn't something they ordered but who knows, their drinks were flowing and they were probably having too much fun to bother investigating their order. We wait a while thinking maybe it really is just a coincidence that they also ordered like 12 hand rolls. When our server approached I told them that I was pretty sure that other table got our order and I could hear them asking each other "who ordered this???? What's with all the hand rolls???" Server pretty much blew me off and said oh you just have to wait maybe like 10 more minutes they haven't started your order yet. I tell them again.... Im pretty sure they have our order so we'll be sitting here until closing and our order still won't be out because it's been given away!! A different server approached us trying to give us another table's order and I tried to tell her our issue and she completely ignored me. Then a third server comes up asking why we're just sitting there and if we wanted the ice cream menu... I now tell this one too our order has been given to the wrong table. Finally a fourth server who actually investigates and listens to what I was trying to tell them.... Shocker!!!! Tells me oh yes sorry we gave your order to the next table. At least this one seemed apologetic and ensures our food comes out quickly. Then the bill comes and of course they charged us for 7 full priced adults when our party was 4 adults and 3 kids... this at least was quickly fixed but cmon now... By this point I've been here an hour longer than I would have liked and my baby is screaming so I have to high tail it out of there.... But the icing on the cake is as we were leaving my BIL told me he heard the servers counting the extra sushi pieces and hand rolls that the other table didn't eat to charge them per piece! (as is customary in this type of restaurant)! They didn't even order that s#*t! So long story long... I won't be returning to Sushi Saga... these AYCE places are a dime a dozen so I'll just find another go-to spot. I'm stubborn as the day is long so no way they're getting my money again. read more

Food is excellent! Waiters are very attentive to customers and very courteous! Order is quick. Their tempura shrimp is so good i ate like 20 of them :) Wait, dont frget the sushi, sashimi, rolls, they are very good and fresh. Place is clean amd nice size compared to others in the area. This is my family's go to sushi spot ! Reasonable price for an all you can eat . They have the best kani salad ! Place gets 4 stars because it's only walk-in they need to start doing reservations because it gets really crowded and the wait time is long ! read more
