    Super Maki Combo
    David S.

Parking, good food and service with fair prices, I'm glad that we went. The parking lot is not large, with a good number of stores it services, but cars are coming and going all of the time. It was not hard to find a place. The restaurant is not a big place and had plenty of seats when we went. You walk up to order, plus there is a good size menu with lots of options. It might take a bit to figure out what to get. We both ordered the Super Maki Combo bento box. There is plenty of food that comes with this meal. And it came pretty quick. Soup, tempura, steamed veggies, a couple of rolls, tempura, and a dumpling. They are not messing around here. The food was good, nothing really memorable, but nothing was questionable either. And for the price, not a bad deal. The staff was friendly and helpful when we were asking about the menu. When the food came to our table, we were happy with the freshness and presentation. The sauces were explained with what dishes they were for. It is a lot of soy sauce! The tempura dipping sauce was not what I am used to having with tempura but worked with the meal. It was very light and had a nice flavor. It is worth trying out for a low key Japanese meal.

I had an unstoppable craving for sushi and got very excited when I saw on Yelp most of their rolls were around $10. I'm sad to report everything's gone up about $5, but so is the times. The waitress was very knowledgeable and the food came out quickly with a solid portion size. Pretty average for sushi, but of a fishy aftertaste. Restaurant was very clean and spacious.

The sushi was delicious, easy process to add accommodations, really cheap for the quality, my only complaint would be the containers they come in lol they're so loud to open

OK my little babies! Today's business is a food business and it goes by the Name of Sushi Q on Sunset blvd and it is DA BOMB! It's a small place in a strip mall and if you blink...you'll miss it, so don't blink! The prices are fair...the place is clean, the service is fantastic and the food is AMAZING! I recommend the 2 item bento with Beef Teriyaki, Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura, blanched vegetables, salad rice, miso soup and dipping sauces!!! Don't waste time, just get down there!

    was...Chicken Teriyaki Bowl! lol

Chicken Teriyaki Bowl! (sorry for the TMI finished plate...and bent fork! lol) the food was so good that forgot to picture before full plate of good looking Teriyaki Chicken Plate. it was delicious! Please compliments to da chef! Teriyaki Chicken is really good, delicious and very flavorful. Loved it! very few word to say....TRY IT!

I would give this a 4 star for food and service, a 2 star for ambiance and the fact that there was no restroom and randomly located in a shopping center. So, its probably a 3.5. My friend and I are always looking for good sushi spots and we usually hit up DTLA or Little Tokyo, but I tried to find a place closer to her in Hollywood. I will say it's hard to tell sometimes if it's a sit down place vs casual to-go spot. I did like that parking was in easy, especially for Hollywood, so that's a definite plus. When I came in, there were a few patrons sitting and eating, but strange enough no one was speaking. There was a table of what I assume were millennials eating with headphones on, not saying a word to each other. I was greeted by the girl in the front and waited for my friend. My friend got there and we ordered. I asked for the poke bowl and they gave me a sheet to fill out. I got the poke bowl with half brown rice and half salad, spicy tuna and albacore. It was $9 and some change plus tax and tip. I read that it was the best bang for your buck. My friend got two salmon hand rolls. Overall my poke bowl was delicious! I think my friend seemed to enjoy her hand rolls, but she's a bit snooty about the environment and rolled her eyes a couple of times. She thought it was really weird that no one was talking except us. A lot of people came in and out, many ordering to go. I like this place overall, nothing fancy but quality food.

Here's what this place has going for it... 1) It is easy to customize your order to your liking. Each of my changes were $1 (ie: brown rice substitute for white and spicy tune substitute for crab meat). 2) The prices are decent. 3) Walk up order at counter so kinda a fast food style sushi place. 4) Great location off Sunset near Highland with a parking lot. Where things were not so good... 1) The rolls just didn't taste that fresh. 2) Spicy tuna felt "airy" which I don't like. I want to get what I pay for not "fluffy" fish. 3) Compared to similar places, it took a little long to get my food. I felt like they were short workers in the kitchen. All in all, not bad, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go here.

The sea urchins one is creamy and VERY RICH. The cream sauce bend in really well with the sea urchins. But definitely not something you would order if you are on a weaker stomach. The duck udon is flavorful with plenty of meat. The soup pair perfectly with the udon as well. There was a line outside before it opened. But not too bad. They got a little eating area outside right next to the street and I saw people ate there with their dog as well. I guess that they are "kinda" dog friendly?

Udon noodles were good, but it was not excellent. It did have light chewy texture. BUT in comparison to Meiji Seimen, it fell short, really short! I was disappointed. BEEF BOWL It was delicious! Beef was tender and moist and loved the caramelized onion too. Rice was delicious too, not dry nor mushy. Served with pickled red ginger. A very satisfying bowl. Sat at the bar, so watched them make udon from scratch, which was nice. WAIT LIST There was a line when I got there, just as it opened. It wasn't long, but everyone wrote their name down on a wait list. There's a sheet of paper placed on the table outside. Please write your name down ASAP, as that will help in making sure that you will grab a seat. Also, the lines are disorganized too, so it's best to write down your name, so no one cuts in front of you. It is a small restaurant. Limited seats. CUSTOMER SERVICE It was okay. Everyone got in the restaurant in the order they came in. Service was quick and there were no delays in taking orders. The server came by quickly and dropped off the check as she saw that I was nearly finished with my meal. PARKING Parked at Joe's Autoparks. It was $15! I did not know until after I paid the ticket. Very difficult to find parking in this area, so not many options unless you want to walk really far, back to your car in 90 degree heat. There was another parking garage next to Joe's, but the price was the same! Would I come back again? Not sure. Given that the udon wasn't what I expected, it may be my last time here. Also, parking sucks.

The vibe is awesome inside; there's lofi playing at a nice level and the lighting is beautiful. It feels like an elevated experience right when you walk in. We didn't wait long as it was a Sunday afternoon, and our waitress was so helpful in deciding what to order (the menu is extensive!). We got the baked scallop roll, the crunch spider roll, and the Baja California roll. All three were amazing!!!! We also got spicy tuna crispy rice and the gyoza to start. I am not joking when I say they were the best restaurant gyoza I've had in Los Angeles. Juicy, warm, nice golden crisp on the bottom, and flavorful filling. The baked scallop roll was my personal favorite of the three; it was warm and savory, with an excellent bite from the juicy scallops. It was a great contrast to the Baja roll, which is cold and has crunchy elements to it. And the spider roll was one I didn't expect to like (my boyfriend wanted it), but ended up being my second favorite! The soft shell crab flavor is deliciously salty and pairs great with the surrounding flavors. I'll definitely be back for more!

Seasonal ingredients from Japan and California are used to curate the finest delicacies. Therefore you're likely to try various specials with the changing seasons. I loved the Zensai which presented 7 small palate warming appetizer bites. Comes in a cute bento box like format. The creamy potato puree and tempura bites were my favorites. For the main course, I absolutely loved the Uni and Dungeness crab....so exceptional. Served in an actual Uni shell and filled with warm Dungeness crab meat and broth, egg white soufflé, and topped with a whole Uni. This should be their top dish. Another phenomenal course was the Rockfish. The fish complimented very well with the snap peas and kelp which brought out the flavor of the rockfish. Perfect!!! Shiizakana is their signature dish which made its debut on chef's table and served year round. An abalone truffle pasta. This was good but for me personally wasn't a highlight. Overall a good experience. At dinners end, chef Niki Nakayama came out personally to share our experiences. We got to meet the artist that curated this amazing dinner. Thank you Chef! We had an rsvp but wasn't busy when we arrived. Was sat immediately and served water. They have a pretty extensive menu of most things you'd find at a sushi cut roll spot. We ended up ordering the toro garlic toast, veggie tempura, ginza roll, and several pieces of nigiri sushi. The toro garlic toast was pretty good - sort of like a spicy tuna crispy rice situation ... but a little fattier and more garlicky than crispy. The ginza roll was pretty good too - a lot of fish in the roll and wasn't overwhelming with too much sauce. The tempura was good too- not super oily and all your typical veg involved. The nigiri sushi were pretty well prepared. The size was pretty good for the price - and each were accompanied by a small garnish on top or a little bit of sauce brushed on. All in all - I wouldn't say it's a date night place, but is a good easy eats sushi spot for rolls and nigiri for the price. Would recommend!

The restaurant offers outdoor seating overlooking the lovely green turf and provides tall heaters for cooler evenings. We crossed a few intersections to get there, and it was well worth the walk. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a warm and welcoming host. The ambiance is light and airy, featuring high ceilings, light-colored walls, and light wood furnishings. The overall aesthetic is clean, modern, and very inviting. We stopped in for a late lunch and ordered the "Eggcellent Lunch" prix fixe, which included the following: *Tuna Tataki Handroll ~ seared wild caught tuna, tomato & shallot salsa, rayu chili oil, ponzu, micro cilantro *Seaweed Salad ~ w/minced garlic. Served alongside the Tuna Tataki Handroll *Squid Ink Karaage ~ 2-day brined fried chicken thighs, squid ink, house pickles, grilled lime, black garlic ranch *Chicken Breast Skewer ~ char siu marinade, black sesame *Bacon Shishito Skewer ~ applewood smoked bacon *Chicken Meatball Skewer ~ sous vide egg yolk & tare dip Bottom line, everything had visual appeal and was packed with flavor!
