spicy Chicken Ramen
Sarai M.

food was amazing my chicken ramen was delicious I think I would of loved it more if I got the spicy chicken ramen. I also got the crispy eggrolls they were fire the service was also amazing and they were extremely friendly! definitely recommend if you are in the area

They boil the broth for 10 hours! It was super flavorful! They have so many options on their menu. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place! It was packed the entire time and thankfully they close until 3:00am! The service was amazing! I truly cant tell u what was my favorite dish! All of them were so good! I love how much garlic the broth had! The chashu pork melted in my mouth! The sushi was nice and fresh! I truly enjoyed all of it

Top notch sushi and ramen on Melrose. Service is fast and friendly. Prices are ok. Good spot for a dinner. Big plus they open late!

Ramen Melrose gets an easy 5 stars for me. Is this best kept secret in LA cuz I never heard of this place. I got invited to celebrate the birthday of my friend's mom. Our party of four ordered several items. We started with appetizers that included fried gyoza, steamed shumai and crispy tuna. Then we moved on to rolls which included yellowtail truffle, best friends and dragon fire. Then we ordered a sashimi bento box and finally, a bowl of ramen for each one of us. Gosh, everything was so fresh and delicious. From the fish to vegetables and every ingredient used. Service was friendly and attentive. The chef himself came out of the kitchen to check how we're doing with our meals. The ambiance may look very simple but don't judge cuz food is way better than gourmet restaurants in a fraction of a cost. We're looking forward to coming back very soon to try other items on the menu. Menu itself is very extensive so there's still a lot to try. I also would like to mention that they have a happy hour every day from 11am to 8pm.

We were looking for a place to eat but everything around our motel in Hollywood was closed we were walking and found this establishment. A hole in the wall mom and pop Ramen place. Interesting menu a lot to choose from honestly never been to a Ramen place like this. We chose the Bento boxes I chose Teriyaki chicken and my wife chose beef. Nice speed a selection of tempra shrimp California rolls salad ans rice. And some green stuff my wife told me was hot. And I tasted it holy... yeah it's hot. My wife box was the same except she had beef. Truthful damn great I enjoyed everything in the box. Truly worth walking in. Chicken well cooked as well as the beef, shrimp also very good. Wait staff is so friendly and helpful. Place is small but very clean. Stays open late for the night people. Lil grunge and alternative music flowing in the air. Nice Lil mom and pop. Price to product = 8 Customer service 8 Plating = 8 Cleanliness = 8 Menu = 7 Atmosphere = 8

Vegan Croquette Buns* were delicious! Love the potato filling

Came in with my head hangin' low from a long day and knew I could find great quality grub past 10PM in Hollywood here. Their prices are a couple bucks lower when dining at the restaurant vs ordering take out, understandingly so -- I'd been ordering their take out for so long I felt like I was re-discovering the prices. They've also got a happy hour running from 11:30 AM to 8 PM where 50% is taken off apps + 50% off beers from 5-8pm The lighting in the restaurant is brighter and colder than your usual dinner spot, so it does give more of a cafeteria vibe than intimate date night. I had some spicy edemame which was FREAKING AMAZING, I actually used the remaining sauce to add on top of my creamy vegan ramen and my partner loved it. Their ramen broths are off the HOOK. I'm only familiar with their vegan options but damn, both never disappoint (add egg to yours!!). Additionally got the best friend roll, which tasted great. However the spicy mayo was sweeter rather than spicy, the taste of mayo in my mouth was overpowering other ingredients. Itta was our server and was absolutely lovely! Thanks for having us.

RAMEN MELROSE (@ramenmelrose) -- Thrillist listed as "best Asian restaurants in LA." They serve Authentic Japanese Ramen. For around twenty dollars you will feel satisfied and full. Good selection of food. Clean restaurant. Friendly service. This is one of the few places in this area that stays open late all year long. They have an amazing happy hour with great deals on beer and appetizers. Promo:‼Happy hour from 11:30am to 8pm. Enjoy 50 percent off appetizers. Enjoy all beers for $1.50 from 11:30am to 5pm. Enjoy 60 percent off all beers 5 to 8pm. What I got: -old fashioned pork ramen -pork belly buns -yellowtail with serrano chili pepper -sashimi bento box -spicy tuna crispy rice -the 007 with spicy tuna and avocado

Everything was tasty and I loved the garlic pork broth in the Garlic Lover Ramen. The service was excellent as well and a really great perk as well is they are open late if u are craving a really late night bite. Cute place and could be a small wait .The parking area is a little small but there is also metered parking around.

Ramen Melrose is one of those gems that I wished I discovered sooner. Great late night hours, just watch out for any shady stuff going down in the strip mall parking lot (you know how strip malls can be). Walking in felt like we were transported from this corner in Hollywood to a delicious Japanese adventure. The restaurant is roomy with great seating and ample space. We came her for a family celebration and it did not disappoint.  Definitely Mama approved! Everything from the flavor of the sushi rolls to the great service was well executed and high quality. As for our order we had Appeitizers: Gyoza Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice Shumai Mains: Yellowtail with serrano chili pepper on a bed of greens and seaweed salad Sashimi Bento Box - Incredible Value with Rice, Salad, California Roll, generous Sashimi Sushi Rolls: Fire Dragon Roll, Yellowtail Truffle Roll, Best Friends Roll Ramen: Old Fashioned Pork Ramen and TNT Ramen. My favorite part of family outings is that we get to share and try everyhting. My favorites were the sushi rolls, sashimi bento box and Old Fashioned Ramen! If I was on a solo date, I would definitely go for the bento box! I will absolutely be back for the food, ambience and service.  Shout out to Yuki for all his delicious suggestions and Chef for making such excellent food We will definitely be back.  Super Oishi!!!!

loved this spot! inside has a nice vibe and very spacious. the service was great. we shared the tsukemen (dipping ramen) and the volcano roll. the roll was delicious, i loved the combination of spicy tuna and salmon. the stand out dish was the tsukemen! the noodles were so chewy and bouncy and the broth it comes with was perfectly savory with tender pork pieces inside. the hot sauce it comes with makes the dish, i would get extra next time!

Pork Garlic Lovers Ramen Beef Curry Bowl
Jennifer N.

Great for late nights eatery after a concert or event in the area because they close late. 2/3 AM. They are small with less than 10 tables so there might be a wait. Ramen is decent but for $17, such a small portion with half of an egg. We also opted for something different and went with the curry beef bowl. Not only was it underwhelming, It was $17 for a few slices of old "Yoshinoya" style thin meat and a whole lot of salad. The meal may look big in pictures due to the flat plate and the misleading Ramen bowl that starts really small and at the top that illusioned to be big, But the size are pretty small. If you have a big appetite, these main entrees are probably just snack, appetizer lol. Service was good. Buy no one came back to refill our water.

This is one of the few places in this area that stays open late all year long. Around midnight we didn't have to wait to be seated for two people. We ordered the Old Fashioned Pork Ramen which cost 16 bucks but will fill you up with some good tasting hot soup. The service is fast and friendly too.

All the workers answered my questions and even as the dinner rush came in, I never felt like I was pressured to hurry up. Huge kudos to them for this. There are lots of places to get ramen in Little Tokyo and I have my go to places, but now that so many other ramen places are popping up in the 626, the daunting task of driving to DTLA and finding parking have also factored into my decision to wander out. But as a J-fashion and anime fan, I'm just constantly thrown back into the Little Tokyo vortex. For this recent visit, I remember my friend hyping up the Anaheim Rakkan Ramen, so I thought why not? Came a bit later into the dinner rush, around 6-something PM and was seated immediately as a solo diner on a Friday night. It started to get a bit busier around the time I was finishing up. Seating is a bit tight inside with a couple of tables, counter bar seating, but they do have outdoors seating as well. Food came out efficiently and super piping hot. For my dinner, I got the: 1) Coffee Jelly: -One of my favorite, comforting Japanese desserts. If a bakery has it, I'll order it, and I felt a bit indulgent so I ordered it then. Staff asked if I wanted to have it at the end or just have it come out ASAP. I said ASAP and it was a good palate cleanser between the savory and sweet so I didn't get tired of the flavor. Not a super huge amount of coffee jelly (but makes sense since this is a restaurant and not a to go ordering counter at a bakery), but it was silky and had a good coffee flavor to it. You get a small "shot" of heavy cream milk to mix in and you can control how sweet you want it. Not bad. 2) Ramen Sushi Combo (Spicy Quartz Ramen + Aburi Salmon): -This comes with any signature ramen and any 2 pieces of sushi (extra fee for any upgrades) -I got their spicy quartz ramen, which is their creamy miso broth ramen made with your choice of chicken or pork chashu (I got pork), crispy fried garlic, seasoned egg, fried broccolini, and 2 pieces of nori. -There's LOTS of crispy fried garlic pieces in it. Every bite has a slight garlic after taste and it's nice to add a bit of crunchy texture to the ramen. -The broccolini is unique, I don't think I've ever had that with a ramen before and it's nice to have some greens too. - It's a seasoned egg, not a soft boiled egg, so don't expect that. It's not hard boiled all the way, but the flavor wasn't super strong for the egg. Not bad, but not the best. -The noodles are thicker egg noodles that had a nice chew and texture to it. However, the broth flavor wasn't that strong to me? If that makes sense. You get a good taste of creamy miso and a very slight kick, but I felt like the 2 small pieces of chashu and noodles didn't really take the flavor of the broth that well. Maybe I should have left my bowl of ramen soaking longer to get a better taste profile? Who knows. 3) Aburi Salmon (2 pieces): -I chose this with my combo and it doesn't incur an extra free. It's a seared salmon with mayo on top. -Not bad. Can never go wrong with aburi salmon. It's comparable to what you can get from Kura. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing or maybe my taste buds have been blasted by ramen spots with heavier, flavor intensive broths like Tenkaippin and Nagi. I don't mind going if someone else invites me and hopefully it's a better experience.

I have a picture of my brother eating here in middle school with us and then later on in his early 20's. Crazy time lapse, and truly shows what a favorite this place is and it's place in the community. As with all businesses in Little Tokyo, parking can suck (not as bad as K-town, but you're either paying or super circling around). Service is super efficient, welcoming and polite, as with their other locations as well. It's not the biggest restaurant, but none of the Shinsengumis I've been to have been particularly large. With this location, from my first visit, and all the subsequent visits, I always get their Hakata ramen, firmer noodles, since the longer I eat and enjoy the food, they'll soften a bit, less soup oil and less saltiness. I get all of the toppings that it comes with and I always add in a poached egg. Love the strong pork flavor since they stew their broth for so long and the tenderness of the chashu (sometimes I order more). Prices have definitely gone up and a slightly altered upgraded version of this ramen is almost $30 if you're not careful enough. Times have changed but how good this place hasn't. There's more ramen options now than there were like 10 years ago, but Shinsengumi is always a classic.

Also got a yuzu beer to try and it was delicious, nice yuzu flavor with some tanginess. I had the shoyu with duck while my husband had the yama tonkotsu that came with fragrant black garlic oil. The tonkotsu is not one of those rich, milky, creamy ones and I personally like these lighter ones more. I also enjoyed the shoyu which had a pleasant depth of flavor, but it felt like it was relying too heavily on MSG for umami. Noodles came out chewy. Definitely not the best ramens I've had but are some of the better ones in LA. Our server was friendly, as were the rest of the staff. Service was quick. The restaurant decor feels straight out of Japan, an extra bit of fun. There's a $10 paid lot behind this block of buildings that's convenient for anything in this part of Little Tokyo.

I added mentaiko since I did the same at Menchirashi and honestly, everything was fantastic. The udon itself is pretty much exactly like fresh udon in Japan. Perfectly bouncy, chewy, and satisfying. Staff were also wonderful and service was insanely fast. We probably waited less than 10 minutes for both our udon and tempura, and they consistently checked in to make sure everything was good. I can't wait to come back and try more of their menu, especially the uni cream udon. The only thing I didn't like was the shrimp tempura since it had a lot of batter and not a ton of shrimp, so it was on the greasy side. I did enjoy the soft boiled egg tempura though. The yolk exploded into the udon and somehow made the whole bowl even better hehe. There are plenty of tables inside with limited bar seating. If you're a 2 top you might be sharing a table real close with some neighbors (they put a divider). If there's a wait, write your name down on the clipboard outside!
