Sushi Paradise - Shogun roll must try!! - Sushi Bars Near Me - Puyallup, Washington

I've come in a couple times and the owner/worker is rude. One of the times she was ranting about money issues to customers. I figured, everyone gets stressed, and I don't want to drive up the hill for sushi, I'll deal with it. Nope, still rude and still more ranting on a different occasion. Sushi is ok, but not $30 worth ok. I'll go to Tacoma, or up the hill. read more

One of the best sushi in the area. They have great deals, quick service and their food is always a high quality. The staff are friendly and if you go enough, they remember you and ask about how your family or you are doing. We frequently bring our kids and they have chopstick helpers for them. They've made an avocado roll upon request for one of my finicky kiddos. For those that like spicy, ask for any roll to be extra spicy cause it really makes the rolls pop with flavor. We usually come before the dinner rush, as there's mostly bar seating and one bigger group table (party of 8). We feel looked after while we are here and it has us coming back month after month. read more

Came to Sushi Paradise before my nail appointment next door. Had some time to kill and it was lunch time, and I've always been curious about this place, so why not! Surprisingly was a ghost town, but after I came in a few others sat as well. Was able to be seated immediately and the staff here are all so nice! Both waiters I encountered were super sweet and the waitress was also kind. Lots to choose from on their menu and their lunch special called my name - two rolls to choose from off the menu for $22. Pretty solid, imo. I got the Red Dragon (shrimp tempura, imitation crab, topped with spicy tuna) and the Sex on the Beach (spicy tuna, cucumber, topped with spicy crab and salmon). I will say all of the fish tasted nice and fresh and I enjoyed both rolls. I favored the Sex on the Beach more, the whole roll was just better overall. The Red Dragon had good flavor, but the shrimp tempura tasted more chewy/soggy than it did crispy. Almost kind of stale, so that was a downside to that roll. Overall it's pretty good and I would definitely come back to try more of their menu - the AYCE seems like a solid deal! read more

I really think that this is probably the best all you can eat sushi in the area. It is a little bit more expensive than say sumo or some of the other places in Seattle. But the food is fresher and it's much more intimate there's not a ton of people like trappers has where you're waiting on an order forever. And there's no tablets where you never get to interact with the sushi chef which I think is part of the experience of ordering sushi. Everything here is always fresh delicious and I end up eating way too much every time I go plan for a budget about $80 for two people but if you eat more than three or four sushi rolls then you're totally getting your money's worth. We will absolutely be back as this is our special occasion sushi spot moving forward. read more

Pretty busy at the all you can eat section. So we sat on the dine in. Booths are roomy service was blah didn't get any napkins or bowl to mix wasabi the waitress threw the straws at us! The food was delicious I love sushi I would order again but for take out or delivery not dine in the service was not it for me again my expectations are high and I like to feel welcomed not like eat and get out shuffled like a cow. read more

Friendly staff and the best sushi! Love this place! yummy yummy or double double are my 2 favorite!

Do note that they no longer have AYCE (all you can eat)! Food/Taste/Flavor: 4/5 - Raw rolls of Sex on the Beach (spicy tuna, cucumber, topped with spicy crab and salmon) and Red Dragon (crab, shrimp tempura, topped with spicy tuna) were our two favorite rolls. The textures were good and the ingredients tasted well. The first definitely had a kick Cooked roll of Double Double (crab, shrimp tempura, avocado, topped with ebi) - the avocado only covered half of the roll and it has a ginger sauce drizzle on top. Deep fried roll of Tornado (spicy crab, spicy tuna, and shrimp tempura) - the texture was off since the rice was a bit mushy but the outside is fried well and the spiciness does come through Ambience: 4/5 - bar tables were a little sticky and it was oddly empty for dinner time. The ginger and wasabi were already available on the table but the wasabi still had a slight "kick" when eaten Service: 5/5 - the chef behind the table was super friendly and attentive. He was able to provide some recommendations. The cashier lady was friendly and chatting with a local who sounds like he's been coming here for 10+ years Value for price: 5/5 - good food, friendly service, very reasonable price for the 2 rolls for $18 read more

The sushi is always fresh. They make accommodations for gluten free folks. Service is always fast which is great on my lunch.

Keep driving. I went to a this place on Mother's Day weekend because I love sushi! A huge disappointment from the start. I was waiting for my fiancé and son to come in to eat. The waiter comes over to ask if he could get me some water. I nicely asked him for 3. He gave me a strange look. I told him I was waiting for others. I was trying to ask him if he could bring chopsticks for us and that one was for a child but he was walking away as I asked him. He seemed annoyed. Very rude! He brought over our water and that was it. Didn't check on us after. On to the sushi... the cold sushi was warm and the sushi that was supposed to be hot/warm was cold. Clearly it has been sitting there for some time. Not only was the sushi not great, there was some that had packaged tuna pieces. Never in my life have I had this. I couldn't even eat it! To top it off it gave me horrible stomach pains. This place is over priced for poor quality of food and poor customer service. Just keep driving!!! read more

I went there for the first time last Saturday evening-- going with my brother to one of his favorite sushi places. The staff were personable, friendly & attentive. The waiter/host and sushi chef worked together to ensure my food allergy was well accommodated. What's unusual is that even though I could only eat one of their sauces, I didn't feel deprived of good tasting food with truly enjoyable flavor - something other sushi restaurants have struggled to provide. Everything I saw appeared clean and the ambiance felt peaceful. I look forward to a return visit. read more

Tried this place for my birthday and had it delivered. Food was good but it was mediocre, Nothing special. I had 4 rolls. S. on the beach, energy, linda, and double double. Gave a lot of ginger which I liked but I could tell the ginger wasn't fresh and wasabi was minty green and actually sweet to taste. I finished all 4 rolls. In conclusion, good! But wouldn't have it if I were looking something finer. 3 Stars. read more

The food does not taste fresh. We ordered 4 rolls, rice was dry and hard. I had the world roll. I had an allergic reaction and my face and neck turned bright red. That usually only happens with bad wasabi. The sushi is very expensive when you compare it to the quality of food. The wasabi and ginger are in jars on the sushi bar for everyone to share. Did not seem very sanitary. The sushi bar chef was very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend sushi Konami. A little ways from Puyallup but definitely worth a try. read more

Miss the AYCE lunch menu. It's gotten pricey for sushi since the pandemic hit but so has everyone else. I enjoy coming to this family owned restaurant for lunch. Staff are always friendly. Sushi is made fresh and made to order. Rice is warm...I hate cold sushi rice. Jay is cool. I hope he continues running the place m. read more

My favorite place for sushi! The two roll special is what I always get which is plenty of sushi for dinner. The rolls are really big and made to order. The service is pretty quick and it's great sitting at the bar while they make your rolls. Plus they always put a bunch of sauce which is my favorite. I didn't love the raw rolls they have but I would 10/10 recommend the Mexican, double double, and river road. read more

This is a great lunch spot! I love the creativity, but just about everything has imitation crab in it. There are some raw rolls. The selection is limited, but the rolls they do are very good. There's no half stepping either. All of the rolls are wonderfully rolled. No falling apart once you grab it. You don't immediately feel like the countdown has started once you pick it up. The staff here is awesome. Very friendly and really take pride in what they do. Make great conversed great for a show. They are very clean and tidy. Small, but with room to move around. There's no bottle neck or sliding against people you don't know to get by. There's only light coming through the front door so no windows. The ambiance in here needs a little work, but is come back again and again if I lived in the area. Prices are great here as well. Maybe it's the imitation crab?? Not sure, but if you haven't tried it, you should get over here. read more

Was looking for a quick lunch that would satisfy a vegetarian. Stopped in for vegetarian sushi. We were greeted upon arrival and asked a few questions of the host, verifying that avocado and tofu are great options. We agreed that we'd spilt a two roll order. Even chose our dipping sauce. About 10 minutes later, and older female approached our table to clarify our order. There seemed to be confusion between 2 or 4 sushi rolls. It appeared that our initial order was never communicatied. $19.95 for two avocado sushi rolls is pretty expensive for a quick lunch. I love edamame, but $9.50. Pretty outrageous prices. We won't be returning. read more

This place used to be excellent. I haven't eaten here in a few months and it's nowhere near what it used to be. All you can eat used to be $18. Now it's $35! And the 2 roll deal used to be 11.95. Now it's $20! They just remodeled so maybe they're trying to pay off some bills. The size of the rolls are also much smaller than before. Probably around 25-30% smaller. So if you used to love this place like me...skip it. I won't be back. read more

TL;DR - Used to be regulars, but due to overcharging for basic sushi rolls we will prob not come back. We've been coming here awhile; the sushi is ok, but most of the menu is pretty overpriced (edamame, which is super cheap in stores, is $8). When we first started coming they had a 2 roll special for $15, which was a great deal. Now the same deal is $20, which was fine until today. We've always gotten the two roll special and split it, which was perfect. Now the 2 roll special is per person. We were unexpectedly charged much more today, even though we are regulars. The chefs are very friendly and helpful, but the older Korean woman who runs the store is not. Her customer service is usually subpar at best. I don't expect a lot of conversation but a smile can go a long ways beyond language barriers. We were regulars, but now I don't know if we will be back; $24 for 2 California rolls is just a bit much. read more

The worst sushi you can possibly get. Dine-in ambiance is trash. Service is non-existant. When you go for sushi there are minimal requirements such as decent Wasabi, etc. This place has none of that. You can eat that cheap "wasabi" straight from the container that it's mixed in. The rolls are as thick as your thumb as well. Trash place. NEVER going back. Save your money. This place doesn't need to exist. read more

I would say this Sushi is a step below the Sushi you can get at Fred Meyer and a step above the Sushi you can get at Safeway. The all you can eat lunch Menu was really basic and seemed a bit redundant with the selections. The taste and quality was very underwhelming. The rolls were rice heavy and the fish portion was super thin and barely noticeable. Sushi chefs were very friendly and attentive but the rolls were falling apart. read more

Best sushi in Puyallup!! I don't do yelp reviews often but I enjoyed my dinner so much that I had to give a great review. We got the 911, Playboy, New York and Rainbow rolls and they were all phenomenal. Our favorite was the 911. We also got the 15 pc yellowtail, salmon and tuna sashimi & nigiri and it was fresh and very flavorful. It melted in our mouths. I haven't had sushi that good in quite awhile. Another thing I love about this place is the service. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. The lady working was really sweet and gave my toddler a lollipop before we left and he was very happy. We will definitely be back! read more

Sushi can be expensive to try, so here is a lower cost place to give it a shot. It's an affordable option if you're new to the game. read more

You know, I'm a bit of a sushi brat. I hate sushi that has too much vinegar, and a little bit makes a huge difference on whether or not I deem a roll edible. Being pregnant doesn't help matters much. (I might be a TAD bit more picky.) Anyhow, we didn't head down to eat sushi, we were going to try out the Mongolian grill place next door. I was a bit wary when the husband pointed out the sushi place. All you can eat for $17! What a deal! Yeah, right... until you get sick, or until it's so doused in vinegar you eat one piece. I was so surprised. The place is cute. Super clean kitchen area. And the chefs were super fast and nice. The fish was fresh and delicious. I was concerned about the use of a few different sauces making the flavor too crazy, but they knew what they were doing. Every roll was great. We never waited more than a minute for a roll at any time. And our dinner was great. It was a quiet crowd in there. It was definitely an enjoyable evening out, and now we have a place even closer to home! They even asked how much I ate to make sure I was still getting a good deal. Who does that? We will definitely be putting this into the rotation of restaurants we frequent. Very excited. read more

Okay i was skeptical at the prices for sushi being so low. I am PICKY about my sushi and raw fish being fresh. This was some of the freshest fish and the rice like it just finished cooking. I really enjoyed that the rolls were fresh and not totally covered in sauce to drown out the fish. You could really taste the freshness. The staff is super friendly and quick. I also really enjoyed the fried rolls are just lightly fried and still soft- not like hard deep fried like some other places. Highly recommend. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Sushi paradise, it was a nice run of delicious all you can eat sushi but alas my love affair with you is over. I came here on NYE for dinner and found the brown sauce that you drizzle on everything contained chopped hairs. Copious amounts, to the point where my fiancé made the remark of "looks like the sink after I shave." We found this sauce was on his sushi roll too, also containing chopped hair. When I asked the sushi chef what the sauce contained, I was told eel. I asked what the hairs were. They informed me it was the whiskers from the eel. All 3 chefs took my plate to the sink and didn't speak any English. After which the service turned very cold, and we forced ourselves to finish our rolls for fear of being "charged for leftovers." We left after paying full price, and didn't get our usual "see you later." I couldn't get out of there fast enough. For shame. read more
