Had to go to the bar to get sugar for tea, again for chopsticks and to get a bag for leftovers. And I would have ordered wine but alas she never came by Cost: They are obviously trying to cut back. Last night my family and I (8 people) had dinner at Irin Chef. The wait was minimal and the atmosphere (other than being ear drum shattering) seemed pleasant. When the waitress came to take our order, I asked if there were any Vegan options for my husband and I. She mentioned they had a "vegetarian plate" fried in margarine. Margarine contains milk products, making it NOT vegan. We declined the vegetarian option, and finally chose the side of tofu and a small bowl of steamed rice. When we began to order, she pointed out that we couldn't order sides without also ordering an entre or else we would be charged $7 apiece. We had no option available to us otherwise, so we said we would pay the extra $7 so we didn't have to watch the rest of our family ate in front of us while we sat there. I asked how the tofu was prepared and was told it was fried. It looked to be that everything at this point was being fried using oil, which is ok in vegan meals. Then at the last minute the chef took a giant scoop of margarine and doused our tofu in it. At this point, I just gave up since my family was enjoying their meal. My tofu was okay (other than being drenched in margarine), but I left half of the rice, since it was actually hard. No uncooked hard, but rather old hard, like it was sitting there for hours. I could honestly cry from how miserable this experience was. My wife and I were so excited to try Iron Chef Steakhouse for her birthday--we even made a reservation. But from the moment we were seated, things just started going downhill fast. Our waitress approached us with an awkward, almost uncomfortable energy that set a strange tone for the night. The menu was surprisingly small, but we figured we'd share a steak and scallop combo with noodles--something we've done at other teppanyaki-style places without issue. Right away, the waitress made sure to point out the $7 sharing fee, which felt a little unnecessary but whatever, we were still hopeful. Then we waited. And waited. Starving. Eventually the chef came out--talked way too much and kind of killed the vibe. It felt like a show for him, not for us. And here's where things started to feel off: he began cooking for the other family at our table first. Not sure if it was because they ordered full meals, but it definitely felt like we were being treated differently. Then came the whole "catch the broccoli in your mouth" bit. I missed a few times and clearly wasn't into it--but he just kept going. At some point it stopped being fun and just felt awkward. The portion of noodles we got was laughable. It was smaller than a kid's portion and we were expected to split that between two hungry adults? The steak and scallops were divided too, but with barely any noodles, the meal was all grease and no balance. On top of that, the steak wasn't cooked properly and the scallops were underdone. Both my wife and I felt sick the entire night after. Despite leaving almost everything on our plates, they were quick to clear them, making us feel rushed. Even the ice cream for my wife's birthday was underwhelming--a single tiny scoop with a candle stuck in it. No song, no gesture, nothing that made it feel special. Just something slapped together and clearly not done with care. Then came the final insult--the bill. We were charged an unexpected $5 upcharge for the noodles the waitress never mentioned. Then, after running my card, she came back and said, "Oops, forgot to charge you the $7 sharing fee." So now I'm questioning whether the $5 charge was real at all. It felt shady, dishonest, and just the cherry on top of a frustrating night. Oh--and the strawberry lemonade? Disgusting. All in all, for one tiny piece of steak, a couple of scallops, some vegetables (mostly onions), and a laughably small scoop of noodles--with all the upcharges--it came out to nearly $70. SEVENTY DOLLARS. And we left hungry, sick, and mad. That price would've been fine if the food, service, or experience were even remotely good--but it was just insult after insult. Having ordered food from the Iron Chef several times in the past, I found myself having a craving for their delicious lobster and juicy filet mignon this evening. After submitting my order through Door Dash (which I'll identify as DD moving forward), I was informed by the DD driver that another driver had picked up my order already and left. After checking the DD app, I was able to see that the order was not on its way to me and should have been waiting for this nice gentleman to retrieve. Not only did this meticulous DD driver, who was assigned to pick up my order, have to settle for 1/2 his DD wages, but when I called to talk with the restaurant about the mix-up I was told the following (without any apology): the mix-up was DD's fault, my food had already been picked up, and there was nothing more to do about the situation. I ended up calling the DD driver to confirm that the whole thing was a bust, apologize to him for not being able to make his full wages, and to thank him for reaching out to me regarding the whole situation. Frustrated, I thought about reordering the meal since I was still seriously craving lobster and filet mignon. #hangry Anyways, I opted to not reorder after such a disappointing phone call with the restaurant. It took 45 minutes to even have our drink order taken. Then it was another 20 minutes before they had the glassware to make our drinks. The highlights were the chef who was competent and quick. The (new) waitress was very sweet and doing the best she could with a restaurant completely understaffed. Paper menus for a restaurant that average dinner price is $45 and higher is ridiculous. These are the type of places you go to when you wish to enlighten your day. However, our experience was the complete opposite. You ever go to a place where you either have a great time or a horrible time and you absolutely must report on it? This was one of those times. Keep in mind before reading any further that the entire time not even half of the place was full. They were practically empty. It was around 2pm. Let me take you through it from the beginning. We got seated. I took our two boys to the restroom before we start our meals. Upon coming back my husband tells me that the waitress asked him what he wanted to drink without even giving him more than a couple minutes to even glance at a menu. He told her that he's waiting for us to come back from the restroom. The second my boys and I sit down she was at our table asking us what we want to drink. (We had literally just sat down) I told her that I didn't even have a chance to glance at the menu yet. And when I tell you not even a minute passed by before she was back at our table asking for our drink orders again to which I just picked a random drink and my husband a beer. The boys got lemonades. I got a blue geisha drink. (Didn't even finish it. Not worth the $) two or so minutes pass and she's back with our drinks asking what we are eating. We rushed and ordered 3 main meals. We didn't even know there was a yakisoba option until we saw the other people around our table getting that option. Our kids are young and wouldn't finish an entire meal to themselves so we asked if we could split an adult meal for the two. Our waitress was extremely disrespectful towards us once we did that for some reason. She brought us our side salads (one missing because we didn't order 4 adult sized meals) I asked her as she was passing by if I could get another salad (I had full intent of paying for an extra side salad) she interrupted me before I could even finish and said "you did not purchase 4 meals so you only get 3 salads) and that set the tone for me. As a mother who brought all 3 of her kids here to have a good time I felt like I failed by bringing them to a bitter woman who made them feel like outsiders almost. My youngest son was confused asking me why she is rude to us? I then knew the rest of our experience was going to be garbage. But I was somewhat hopeful we would get a good show and the chef would treat us differently. I was wrong. My children asked me over and over "mommy why did our guy not try and throw food in our mouth like the other chefs?" Or "why did our guy not juggle the fire sticks like the other ones?" I'm not sure why we had a completely different experience however, I will make sure to tell anyone and everyone I know to never go here. Simply because my children felt so unwelcome. Not to mention, the chicken was dry AF the previously frozen cheap calamari steaks were impossible to chew it's one of those where you bite down and then as you release the meat just sucks up back to its original shape. Inedible is not even the beginning of describing this place. The worst part? Because our society expects us to tip we tipped. But this is why places and staff don't get tips because of inexcusable actions as such. Oh, and towards the end they brought us these little cups with ice cream and she placed one in front of me, my Husband and my oldest. She left my youngest son out he looked around wondering where his ONE SMALL SCOOP of ice cream went. Of course we handed my son my salad and ice cream. But had she have taken time to talk to me like I was trying she would've realized we wanted to pay for extras. But no, she was in a constant rush. For a Japanese steak house you expect the type of service that you pay for. Don't take your kids here. Don't go here. Find a different better joint to go to. We had a party of 8 of good friends and family. We loved our chef, the only red head chef there! The food was great and he was super helpful. The area that was lacking was our server who had a bad attitude and made multiple errors. I would have rated higher but when that is happening it effects the meal for everyone. Second, the Filet was very tough and chewy causing us to have to spit it out and leave it on the plate. We are regular guests of Iron Chef and have ALWAYS had excellent meals. For the cost of this dinner, one of us got short changed and it wasn't you. Finally, my friend informed them we were having a birthday dinner for me. Upon entering we were not sure if they had a wait list or not. They did but after few minutes she set us at a small table of people. They are doing a good job at social distancing tables. We ordered the filet mignon and scallops with fried rice. The fried rice had good flavor was not too greasy, parts of the race were not quite cooked all the way but it was still good. The mix veggies were cooked very well and tasty maybe it could use a pinch of salt! My steak was cooked medium well and my husbands was cooked rare! He did a fantastic job at cooking the em both to order. We even got a few little shrimps to munch on their sherbet hits the spot!!! Is so cold and creamy and tasty the green was made very well, lots flavor and not too bitter. My husband's strawberry lemonade was a little on the Sweetside but he said he enjoyed it. The experience was fun and worth the money. We will definitely return on a non busy day for sure. It was our families first time eating here and it was an overall great experience! Our Chef Isaac was fantastic! He was super outgoing, full of energy, and interacted equally with the whole group. The food here was great, even better than I remember! I love the chicken the most, especially dipped in that special sauce that they do. I had the house special drink the "Sumo". It was delicious, but a little strong. The service was great once we were seated. I took off one star because it took over 20 minutes after our reservation time to get us to a table, and some walk ins were seated before us, even though we were just a party of three. It's a little noisy in there when they're busy, what with fire and clanging knives. Paired with the mask, that makes it difficult to hear the waitress. She was clearly just as frustrated with it as we were. Just know that she's asking if you want fried rice or steamed rice, and how you want your beef cooked. First off Chef sparkles was amazing. Second off our waitress Deanna was terrible. We had a reservation for 6:15 and didn't see a chef for an hour after we were sat. We didn't see our waitress Deanna till 15 mins after we were sat. We had to ask multiple times how long it may take and received no answer and while asking a question Deanna walked away mid sentence. She was incredibly rude and ignored our table multiple times. 6 tables came in after we did and were helped, served, and got desert before a chef ever even walked up to our table. We had to speak to a manger and only after that did we get a chef 15 mins later. After speaking to the manager however Deanna came up to us and said "did you just speak to my manager?" in a very rude tone. I don't know what we did or why she didn't like us but we were ignored while she went and helped her other table with no problem who were served before us but came in after us. We were wanting to get good hibachi to go since just moving to the area. This was one of the only places that would allow that and we could get at a decent time not at closing. We ordered and I drove the 20 minutes. Got there and was told our 3 entrees would be $200. I asked to see the receipt. We didn't not order anything crazy or too special. Normal hibachi would be u see $100. But we did not receive salads, soup, or even shrimp appetizer. Obviously to Go you do t get ice cream but we didn't even get sauces. It was such a rip off. The rest was tip bc the guy was nice and at least he prepared our meal first to avoid contamination (gluten allergy) The food was ok. I usually pay $16.99 per plate of veg and tofu for this anywhere else in the US Also when they said they have vegan GF optionSSSS. I didn't think it meant optioNNNN.
