Newark business in town. Great menu options and nice service staff. One roll and an appetizer was enough to feed two of us with leftovers. Portions are, prices price prices fair. Location is clean. Definitely recommended!

Big Boi is a gem!!! We found it because we were craving teriyaki one day. Although there are a number of teriyaki spots in Federal Way, we come out to Big Boi because it's my boyfriend's favorite spot. The staff are very friendly. The restaurant is clean and spacious with cute decor. The portions are HUGE and their teriyaki chicken is textbook perfection. I've also tried their spicy tuna roll combo and was surprised at how delicious their salmon and tuna nigiri is. They provide generous cuts of fish. The salmon has excellent flavor. I'm picky about tuna because I can detect the fishiness at a lot of places. I was very impressed with how fresh the nigiri is at Big Boi. I've also recently tried the salmon poke bowl. Even though I ordered take out, the presentation was beautiful and it's been my favorite entree so far. Highly recommend checking out this new spot and we will definitely be back!

This is such an unassuming place on the outside but this food was amazing. Everything was fresh and while I personally didn't have sushi my boyfriend did. It was made fresh too. The staff was super nice too! I will be back!

I ordered the Mariners roll and crab Rangoon, both were really good. I'm definitely gonna come back and try out different menu items.

And the food was incredible!! The sushi is high quality I've only ever eaten in Japan! The staff was super friendly but my favorite was their little cat robot who was so adorable and such a fun touch to an already amazing experience. 10/10 Thank you so much for the incredib service David, I will be back very soon!

(FYI, for weekends and holidays, you'll be charged the dinner price all day). Since it was our first time, our server kindly explained how the ordering system works. You place your sushi orders through one phone with a limit of 15 items every 15 minutes. Drinks and refills are recommended to be ordered directly through your server so they don't take up item slots. Even if you order less than 15 items, you still wait the 15 minutes before placing another round. It sounds a little confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty simple! One of the cutest parts of the experience was having our food delivered by a little robot server with a cat face. Just make sure to grab the food from the section glowing blue so you don't accidentally take another table's order. Super fun and honestly memorable! By the time we were getting full, my family joked that the cat face looked menacing, because we were hoping no more food would be brought to our table lol. The orders don't all arrive at the same time and some can be delayed, so I'd suggest somewhat trying to keep track of your orders if you don't want to go overboard. The sashimi was delicious and the portions are HUGE, so definitely pace yourself because they do charge for leftovers. My son got a little too excited and overordered, so we ended up paying the leftover fee. However, I was genuinely impressed that Sumo Sushi actually allows you to take leftovers home, even with the fee included. I mean, you'll have to pay the fee either way, but I've never been to an AYCE sushi restaurant that allowed leftovers as takeout before. I really respect how serious they are about reducing food waste. They also have a small buffet section you can grab already prepared/cooked food from while waiting for your sushi orders. My absolute favorites were the miso soup, seafood boil(?), and the tempura fish that lives rent free in my head (I should have asked if I could order that fish for takeout!). They also had other hot foods, meats, and seafood options that were tasty. The dessert section was more basic (flan, jello, fortune cookies, etc.), so I skipped dessert this time (besides the fortune cookies hehe). The service, in general, was fantastic. While we were dining, a child nearby celebrated a birthday with their family and the staff went ALL OUT singing happy birthday with light-up decorations and so much energy. It was adorable and way more effort than most restaurants put in. My only small critique is that the "French Fries" listed on the menu are actually sweet potato fries. They tasted good, and I normally like sweet potatoes, but it definitely caught us off guard because it wasn't what we expected. When we left, the staff kindly said goodbye to us, including an older gentleman near the door who consistently seemed focused on customer service and even asked if we wanted condiments packed with our leftovers. We had such a lovely experience and I would consider Sumo Sushi as probably one of the better AYCE sushi spots in the area. We'll definitely be back!

Conveyor sushi is extra kid friendly as they can pick as it comes around and see before choosing. Also that every 12 or so plates there was a toy. The 3 yr old would eat some salmon, eel, rice, edamame, and we ordered her some really delicious fried chicken. We also had 3 desserts (butter cake and 2 cheese cake slices). 9 yr old loved the crab lol. Husband was a fan of the seared salmon, and I'm just not picky and got a little of everything. It's not the "fanciest" sushi, but it's 100% a safer bet with kids to come here than take them to a Japanese restaurant and risk ordering several dishes they decide they don't like. My rating is based on how great it is for families! Kids also liked putting plates in the discard slot, and the robot delivering drinks, and the general cartoons that appeared on the order screen. I think our order ended up being 25 plates (plus a couple items) and $120, I thought this was reasonable for 4 since we said "yes" to anything and let the kids grab what they wanted. We will be back! Also a great option for solo diners!

Service was mediocre, was seated by a young gentlemen that had no hospitality for guest service what so ever. Ambiance was cool, the robot delivery, the personalized order and delivery belt to your seat was great. Wished the Kura reserved items were available. Clearly advertised but NOT available. Spent $240 for 5 people which was about $50 per person which was good. However selection was tight. Price is per plate and not all you can eat, wish sushi selection had more availability.

I wish my service was better, but I got the service i paid for which was zero. They still brought my food out, but lowkey its not all my fault I didn't tip. They make you pay in advanced and for somereason I just expected they would bring it out togo. I dont really tip unless im being served and waited and and etc... so yes I was served the food, but wasnt exactly waited on or check on. With that said the food was above ok. Nothing wrong with cheap and good, unless the ingredients make your tummy hurt. Lol. Luckily it was not cheap quality like corner store ramen or anything. My broth was pretty quality also, but could habe used a slight bit more flavor in my opinion. It was a creamy broth and most places keep it clean so its normal that I want more flavor from creamy broth. Lucky for me their spice is actually spicy.

The nachos also had good toppings and fish, but the chips were stale.

I had high…read moreexpectations, but since I wasn't particularly hungry, I sat down with a casual mindset, just planning to have a light meal. After finishing, my biggest takeaway was: how has this place managed to stay open for so long? Environment: The place is clean, and both the sushi counter and the freshness of the ingredients are evident to the eye. The chefs' uniforms are also very neat. Taste: Sorry, it's hard to put into words! I ordered the lunch combo. The server asked how I wanted my beef done, and I said medium rare would be fine. But the beef was really tough! The tempura was okay. My friend had the pork cutlet rice bowl--the cutlet wasn't crispy, and the sauce was poured directly on top instead of being served on the side as we requested. So neither of us finished our food and we left. Fun fact: Tempura, though it's deep-fried, actually has the second-lowest calorie count among all Japanese dishes. So what's the lowest? Sorry, I forgot. A long time ago, Japan was considered the end of the continent, so many things that made their way there were seen as reaching the ultimate destination. As a result, the Japanese would thoroughly study everything that came--whether it was swords, food, tea ceremony, etc.--which eventually gave rise to what we now call craftsmanship or the spirit of mastery.

You'll often see the owner, Jose, making the sushi orders himself. He was trained by a Japanese sushi chef who in turn was trained in Japan. The ingredients are very clean and the portions are a good value. The sashimi slices are thick! The scallops are velvet in your mouth. The tempura is cooked perfectly. The sushi roll selections are unique and not like other places that just offer the same flavor. Have you ever ordered a couple rolls and they're basically the same? That won't happen here. Service was fast during the lunch rush. Server was friendly. No complaints. The restaurant is clean and the building it's in has a lot of character and history being in DT. Con: One thing I will ding them on is their Tonkatsu. I've had the Tonkatsu plate and the Donburi. Both times they were overcooked and dry. Come for the sushi!
