The food, service, everything was so wonderful. My husband, daughter and I went here for lunch and this place is such a hidden gem. We got a hearbreaker appetizer which was delicious, then we had sushi as well. The waitress was so kind and patient with us. Especially with having our 1 1/2 year old daughter. We for sure plan to return!

We came for a family birthday. The seating arrangement fit a family of 6 without feeling crowded. The staff were friendly, the food beautifully presented and tasty. The menu has enough of a variety that everyone had options. We will definitely come again!

Solid sushi for the price. Fish was fresh and could tell it was of good quality and handled well. The only thing making it 4 stars is that the service is a bit lack luster and the place is incredibly warm in the summer. It felt cooler outside at 84 with a breeze than inside. I can imagine that it is the best sushi in this area however I haven't had any. They do a really nice job with the sushi presentation.

To start, hot tea and ice water. Such a selection. We really only came this time to try the sushi, which was simply Delicious! Each fish stood out in its own glory. Hachi and Salmon were slightly fatty, but with a firm texture. Tuna and the White Fish melted in your mouth. The Red snapper was firm without being chewy. Everything was so flavorful. The service was friendly and outgoing. Will definitely be back for more soon!

This Japanese restaurant is the absolute BEST! I love their salmon teriyaki. The ingredients are so fresh and full of flavor! This is a family owned business and was originally located in Seattle for 20 years. Thankfully they moved to Parkland a couple of years ago and we get to enjoy their food weekly! Crystal, the server, is so personable and such an amazing server. She brightens our evening every time! If you are looking for authentic Japanese cuisine, this is the place for you 5 stars all the way around!

I decided to try a Japanese restaurant new to me this afternoon. The restaurant is well decorated and has a welcoming vibe. I presume that the woman who waited on me is one of the owner's of this establishment. She was polite and was perfect in attending to me during my visit. The meal was excellent! Normally, my biggest gripe with Yakisoba is that it's too oily and too salty. The way the chef prepared the meal I had to day was fantastic! It had the perfect amount of oil, and the spices were perfectly balanced! There was no need to add soy sauce, and the spiciness was perfect. I was informed that spice hounds can ask for hot oil if they want to crank up the heat. I highly recommend this place to everyone in the area who appreciates great Japanese cuisine.

I think I've found my new favorite sushi spot in town. The owners are so kind and it's a family-run restaurant. The quality of fish was great, we had the Salmon Lovers and Hot Boy roll. The salmon was so buttery!

Thankful to have this amazing Japanese restaurant in the Parkland borough of Tacoma. If you like Japanese cuisine, then you'll love this hidden gem. Their quality and menu selection is off the charts. Kamei and her family are welcoming, kind and practical hosts. They have reinvented an obscure strip-mall spot into a welcoming space with amazing food. Go there for lunch and dinner, you won't regret it! There's plenty of parking in the back.

I devoured it so quickly, it was amazing. I will 100% stop here again. The miso soup and edamame were included and were also delicious. The young girl working also gave me an orange slice which I think was just her being friendly. She and the older couple making the food were so friendly and kind. Service was impeccable, food was delicious, and ambience was very calm and clean. This is a wonderful place to stop if you're craving sushi and living in the area. I hope it was just a slow night when I was there, because they deserve a lot of customers!

The place was super welcoming, and you can tell right away the fish is fresh. They started us off with miso soup and edamame on the house, which was such a nice touch. We ordered the Super Dragon Roll and the Spider Roll--both were great. We also tried the Super Crunch, which was just okay compared to the rainbow Roll. The real surprise though? The green mussels. Absolutely divine. To top it all off, they brought us peeled orange slices at the end, and it was the perfect, refreshing finish to the meal. Came in for a quick lunch, left very full and very happy. Will definitely be back if we are ever in Seattle again.

(FYI, for weekends and holidays, you'll be charged the dinner price all day). Since it was our first time, our server kindly explained how the ordering system works. You place your sushi orders through one phone with a limit of 15 items every 15 minutes. Drinks and refills are recommended to be ordered directly through your server so they don't take up item slots. Even if you order less than 15 items, you still wait the 15 minutes before placing another round. It sounds a little confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty simple! One of the cutest parts of the experience was having our food delivered by a little robot server with a cat face. Just make sure to grab the food from the section glowing blue so you don't accidentally take another table's order. Super fun and honestly memorable! By the time we were getting full, my family joked that the cat face looked menacing, because we were hoping no more food would be brought to our table lol. The orders don't all arrive at the same time and some can be delayed, so I'd suggest somewhat trying to keep track of your orders if you don't want to go overboard. The sashimi was delicious and the portions are HUGE, so definitely pace yourself because they do charge for leftovers. My son got a little too excited and overordered, so we ended up paying the leftover fee. However, I was genuinely impressed that Sumo Sushi actually allows you to take leftovers home, even with the fee included. I mean, you'll have to pay the fee either way, but I've never been to an AYCE sushi restaurant that allowed leftovers as takeout before. I really respect how serious they are about reducing food waste. They also have a small buffet section you can grab already prepared/cooked food from while waiting for your sushi orders. My absolute favorites were the miso soup, seafood boil(?), and the tempura fish that lives rent free in my head (I should have asked if I could order that fish for takeout!). They also had other hot foods, meats, and seafood options that were tasty. The dessert section was more basic (flan, jello, fortune cookies, etc.), so I skipped dessert this time (besides the fortune cookies hehe). The service, in general, was fantastic. While we were dining, a child nearby celebrated a birthday with their family and the staff went ALL OUT singing happy birthday with light-up decorations and so much energy. It was adorable and way more effort than most restaurants put in. My only small critique is that the "French Fries" listed on the menu are actually sweet potato fries. They tasted good, and I normally like sweet potatoes, but it definitely caught us off guard because it wasn't what we expected. When we left, the staff kindly said goodbye to us, including an older gentleman near the door who consistently seemed focused on customer service and even asked if we wanted condiments packed with our leftovers. We had such a lovely experience and I would consider Sumo Sushi as probably one of the better AYCE sushi spots in the area. We'll definitely be back!

Kids loved it of course. I appreciated the cook on my filet mignon and the chef obliged my request to skip adding the sauce on my salmon. My Mom had Mahi Mahi and I would order that next time. Each grill has 8 seats. Since we were a party of 5 and we came mid afternoon on a Saturday, we didn't have to share the space. I've tried the regular menu a long time ago and I can't recall if it was a good meal. Seems like there are a lot of recent reviews of the sushi being bad.
