A very nice new sushi spot in Tacoma! Sunday night, no wait! There is a tablet to join the waitlist in the restaurant which is nice! The food was very good & reasonably priced for Sushi and Fish. However, the seating was pretty cramped... kitchen overlaps with dining area a lot... servers were kind but not as attentive as we'd usually prefer. But overall, tasty rolls & appetizers! Would come back once in a while!

En Sushi is a solid new addition to Tacoma's sushi scene with a lively, upbeat atmosphere. We came on a Friday night and it was definitely busy, which gave the place great date night and group dinner vibes. The music was good, the energy was high, and the service was genuinely great; attentive without being overbearing. The ramen was the standout. My boyfriend rated it a 10/10, and honestly, it earned that score. Rich broth, perfectly cooked egg, and comforting in that "I'd come back just for this" way. The sushi, on the other hand, was good but not memorable. I'd give it a 3.5/5. Nothing bad at all, just nothing that made me rave or rush back specifically for the rolls. Solid execution, decent flavors, but it didn't wow. If you're looking for a lively night out, a casual date, or a group dinner spot, En Sushi is worth checking out, especially if ramen is your go-to.

Veggie Spring Rolls (vegan). You get 4, but I got excited.

I found this place on Instagram from one of the vegan foodies I follow. I heard they had a plant-based/vegan menu, and I immediately added it to my list to try! It took a couple weeks, but I finally visited with a friend, and we loved this place! We got here right when it opened at 11 am on a Sunday. We were greeted promptly and seated. The server gave us our menus, asked if we had been there before (we hadn't), and walked through the menus with us. I told him I was a vegan, and he directed me to the plant-based/vegan menu page. So many options for a vegan at this omni restaurant! The atmosphere was clean and fairly quiet. Granted, we were the first ones there, but even as it started filling up, it wasn't loud in there at all. The tables were close together but had enough wiggle room. The food was delicious. My friend is omni and loved her food, too. She also tried the vegan karaage and veggie spring rolls I ordered and liked both. The veggie spring rolls were the crispiest spring rolls I've ever had. They were SO good! The karaage was really yummy, too. I got the vegan boss roll, and it was so tasty. The tempura flakes were a great contrast to the creaminess of the avocado and the softness of the tofu (vegan cali). I couldn't pick out the taste of the vegan tuna much, but I'm sure it played its part in the whole flavor profile. Our server was great. He was very attentive, informative, friendly, and personable. Toward the end of our meal, he came by to tell me that the sushi chef and owner recognized me from the restaurant he previously owned in Bonney Lake! The chef owner was working hard (the restaurant had gotten quite busy in the hour and a half we were there), but he still chatted with us a bit over the partition. The server mentioned he's opened multiple sushi restaurants and will be opening another one in Olympia in the future. I can't wait to come back and try more of their vegan options. This will definitely be a regular spot for me. I'm excited to share it with my vegan and vegetarian friends.

If you're looking for an intimate, upscale sushi spot in Tacoma that feels like a romantic little secret... En Sushi is it. Tucked into a cozy space with a full bar and a refined Japanese menu, this is date-night territory. Think dim, warm lighting, perfectly balanced music, and just enough buzz in the room without it ever feeling loud. The temperature? Just right. The vibe? Intimate and intentional. This is not the spot for big birthday squads. The dining room is small and tables are close together in the front, though the back room offers a bit more privacy for deeper conversation. If you've got a large party, you'd likely need to book out the space entirely. Now let's get into the food. The yellowtail kama was crispy perfection -- flaky, refreshing, and beautifully executed. Easy 5/5. The nigiri omakase? An indecisive sushi lover's dream. Every piece felt thoughtful and high quality. It's the kind of experience where you just sit back, trust the chef, and enjoy. Another 5/5. And the sake selection? High-end, crisp, top-shelf options that absolutely elevated the meal. Also 5/5. If I had to name the standout, it's the omakase experience. I'd return just for that alone. A couple things to note: they don't take reservations, and space is limited. We waited about 15 minutes on a Friday night right before Valentine's Day, which honestly isn't bad at all. You join a waitlist when you arrive. Worth it -- but plan accordingly. Service was attentive, kind, respectful, and never rushed. We felt taken care of without feeling hovered over. Portions are shareable, pricing sits at $$$, and parking is street only. Bathrooms were clean and fully stocked (because we notice those details ). And yes -- queer-friendly. We felt extra welcomed, which always matters. If you're planning a romantic night out in Tacoma and want elevated sushi in an intimate setting, En Sushi absolutely delivers.

Beautiful food that was fresh and delicious. Cozy space with a comfortable vibe. The only small thing I would say is that the wine selection was really lacking and the server didn't know what they had, she also didn't know the names of the fish on my sashimi platter. She got the answer and was apologetic. Overall great and I would go back. I will practice my parallel parking first!

Spent the money, didn't overly enjoy it :/

I don't mind that they are really superficial, it's a perfect little sushi place to take someone and impress them with the enclosure, however, I would only recommend their tempera, specifically, the asparagus is out of this world good. Everything else tasted 3/5 stars, which, I mean, based upon how it the entire place looks, doesn't seem right? (I have tried basically all of the sushi in the Tacoma area, Fujiyama, Mio, random no.7 teriyaki by the mall lol, etc.)

I've been WAITING for good sushi in Tacoma and finally En Sushi has delivered! This is truly some of the best sushi I've ever had. Staff were lovely and attentive, and the place is super cute. Absolutely will return!!

Miso soup - green onion in it which I love

We had an incredible meal here yesterday! We ordered the Double Double and Godzilla rolls and miso soups and it was SO delicious! Everything was super fresh, the staff really friendly and attentive, The menu offering made it really hard to decide, and I will say the other dishes that went by us to other tables, the bento boxes, the soups all looked incredible. The restaurant itself was beautifully decorated. This is our new favorite sushi spot for sure, and we've hit all of the popular spots around South Sound. Can't wait to try the Bento next!

(FYI, for weekends and holidays, you'll be charged the dinner price all day). Since it was our first time, our server kindly explained how the ordering system works. You place your sushi orders through one phone with a limit of 15 items every 15 minutes. Drinks and refills are recommended to be ordered directly through your server so they don't take up item slots. Even if you order less than 15 items, you still wait the 15 minutes before placing another round. It sounds a little confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's pretty simple! One of the cutest parts of the experience was having our food delivered by a little robot server with a cat face. Just make sure to grab the food from the section glowing blue so you don't accidentally take another table's order. Super fun and honestly memorable! By the time we were getting full, my family joked that the cat face looked menacing, because we were hoping no more food would be brought to our table lol. The orders don't all arrive at the same time and some can be delayed, so I'd suggest somewhat trying to keep track of your orders if you don't want to go overboard. The sashimi was delicious and the portions are HUGE, so definitely pace yourself because they do charge for leftovers. My son got a little too excited and overordered, so we ended up paying the leftover fee. However, I was genuinely impressed that Sumo Sushi actually allows you to take leftovers home, even with the fee included. I mean, you'll have to pay the fee either way, but I've never been to an AYCE sushi restaurant that allowed leftovers as takeout before. I really respect how serious they are about reducing food waste. They also have a small buffet section you can grab already prepared/cooked food from while waiting for your sushi orders. My absolute favorites were the miso soup, seafood boil(?), and the tempura fish that lives rent free in my head (I should have asked if I could order that fish for takeout!). They also had other hot foods, meats, and seafood options that were tasty. The dessert section was more basic (flan, jello, fortune cookies, etc.), so I skipped dessert this time (besides the fortune cookies hehe). The service, in general, was fantastic. While we were dining, a child nearby celebrated a birthday with their family and the staff went ALL OUT singing happy birthday with light-up decorations and so much energy. It was adorable and way more effort than most restaurants put in. My only small critique is that the "French Fries" listed on the menu are actually sweet potato fries. They tasted good, and I normally like sweet potatoes, but it definitely caught us off guard because it wasn't what we expected. When we left, the staff kindly said goodbye to us, including an older gentleman near the door who consistently seemed focused on customer service and even asked if we wanted condiments packed with our leftovers. We had such a lovely experience and I would consider Sumo Sushi as probably one of the better AYCE sushi spots in the area. We'll definitely be back!

Conveyor sushi is extra kid friendly as they can pick as it comes around and see before choosing. Also that every 12 or so plates there was a toy. We also had 3 desserts (butter cake and 2 cheese cake slices). 9 yr old loved the crab lol. Husband was a fan of the seared salmon, and I'm just not picky and got a little of everything. It's not the "fanciest" sushi, but it's 100% a safer bet with kids to come here than take them to a Japanese restaurant and risk ordering several dishes they decide they don't like. My rating is based on how great it is for families! Kids also liked putting plates in the discard slot, and the robot delivering drinks, and the general cartoons that appeared on the order screen. I think our order ended up being 25 plates (plus a couple items) and $120, I thought this was reasonable for 4 since we said "yes" to anything and let the kids grab what they wanted. We will be back!
