We ordered 6 rolls, 2 nigiri plates (salmon and sweet shrimp), and the sushi deluxe - and this was PLENTY for a party of 3. * Salmon Skin Roll - So tasty! One of the best versions we've ever tried. Very crunchy skin and not overly smokey or salty. Could use more veggies for me. * Scottish Roll - Easily a favorite. The creamy avocado pairs well with the fresh salmon and bite of acidity from the lemon slice. * Rainbow Roll - Good. Tastes like all other rainbow rolls. * Marguro Tartar - VERY SPICY! My family couldn't eat it because of how spicy this roll was, but the flavors were good otherwise. * Sushi Deluxe - Just okay. I'd prefer to get rolls if I visit again. The ginger beef is decent, but my fav is the cashew chicken and the drunken noodle. The drunken noodle has just the right amount of sauce. The trick for rice dishes is to put the rice in a separate container asap so it doesn't get soggy. Then it's good for a longer time. Despite a new covid wave in the making, it was full. Staff had face covers (aka masks). Service was a bit slow, but Sarah who had briefly gone MIA after the first tea order was very charming and did not shy away from taking bodily risks when trying to pour the very hot refill tea into the cups. From the outside you have no idea how huge this restaurant is. I was blown away by the size of it. Everything was clean and minimally decorated. We sat at a booth and the side of the booth was way too high compared to the table. I had the Tom kha sooo (hot) and it wasn't spicy at all. It was very average. The shrimp on it was good. We split the edamame and they were barely warm. I had the lunch sushi/sashimi combo and the rice just fell all apart. It was very hard to eat. Some of my family and I decided to have lunch at this restaurant after church on Sunday. We did not have reservations, we did a walk-in and was able to get seated right away. Our server greeted us with a smile and was pleasant and professional. We ordered right away. The food ordered for the baby came out right away but it took a little longer than expected for our sushi. I checked this spot out last night for the first time with one of my besties and it was a pretty enjoyable experience. We arrived around 7:30pm on a Monday evening and it was really busy! All patio tables were full and inside was pretty filled, too. Service was definitely on the slow side as the bartender was taking care of the bar and about 4 or 5 high top tables, but she was very friendly and our orders came out just right. Onto the sushi: We both ordered the Red Dragon with eel sauce on the side. It wasn't my favorite roll, mostly because of the giant piece of tuna on top. Normally I love sashimi style fish on top of a roll, but it was the kind that you can tell has been dyed to make it that super pinky color that just isn't natural for sushi grade tuna. The taste was also inconsistent - some pieces were far more pungent than others. I also got the Scottish roll which had salmon and avocado inside with salmon and thin slices of lemon on top. Really fresh and tasty! My friend also got the Machu Pichu roll, which I considered ordering, but was afraid would be too sweet with the mango and pineapple. Well, lemme tell you, it looked amazing and she said it tasted just as good as it looked. There was a nice salmon ceviche on top, dressed in cherry tomato and herbs, and she said it was nicely spicy. I would definitely order that next time. Sushi is BOGO, so that kept our bills very reasonable. My tab was $20 before tip, which also included a $4 draft Sapporo. They have different drink specials for each night of the week, but they aren't consistent with what you find online, just FYI. Overall, I would go back knowing that it's BOGO sushi and a popular spot. We have gotten a bad soft shell crab and then last night we got a bad salmon roll. We get to go orders, so there is no real exchange or feedback option. We went on a Wednesday night and although it was fairly busy we were still able to find a place to park. The restaurant is nearby NC State so it does fill up quickly with students - the earlier you go the better chance you'll have of not having to wait to be seated or risk not finding a parking spot. Our server was good; very attentive. We ordered four sushi rolls, beers and calamari. The sushi was pretty good. I did take off a star for the calamari. Eating out on the patio is your only option. We had a 20 minute wait on a Monday evening around 7pm. Thank you for enforcing mask usage, sanitizing between diners, having hand sanitizer available, using an electronic digital menu only, and save the Earth disposable plastic ware.
