What an unassuming little spot tucked into a corner of Paoli. If a friend hadn't taken me I likely would have scooted right past. We shared a number of different appetizers for lunch and they were all delicious. We tried chicken buns, gyoza, shrimp tempura, and wasabi shumai. The piece of chicken in my bun was a very off texture. It was so fatty and strange that I ended up taking the whole piece off and eating the rest of the bun on its own. All the other food was delicious. The service was quick, but the restaurant was virtually empty. A few people came in to pick up take out orders, but that was it. Such a great spot for your Japanese fix! We stopped in randomly on a Friday afternoon and while it was quiet, it started picking up super fast with sit down and take out orders. We got the basic tempura dinner with salad and miso soup, and a tonkatsu ramen and it was ALL cozy goodness. The place is in the Paoli shopping center with parking and looks very unassuming as you go in with cooks behind a wall of containers and display, but the booths were comfy. The ramen was perfection, pork was so tender and caramelized on the edges with fantastic noodle and a broth that will stick with you for days. The tempura was a varied mixed of shrimp, sweet potatoes, eggplant, broccoli, green beans, and asparagus. I thought the tempura was a little thick in spots but crunchy panko and a great dipping sauce. A new local favorite! read more

This place has long been my favorite hole in the wall sushi place! However on my most recent visit the food was awful! The tempura which was excellent and crispy before is now soggy. It was so bad this time round that I won't go back. I asked many times if the chef had changed or ownership had changed and I did not get a definitive answer. read more

Adequate. I've been on a sushi kick recently. Tired of my regular standby, Wegman's, an indicator I am no connoisseur. Easy enough to order online on their website, though, of note, if the store is not open, you can not pre-order as you will be able to make selections but then not be able to add to the cart. In my old age, this took me all of 15 minutes to finally grasp, a time I wish I could claw back. Lunch special, $16, for any 3 rolls, with miso soup. Standard fare, with wasabi, pickled ginger slices, and small tubs of soy. I don't stray too far from the popular rolls like tuna, california, or shrimp tempura so this is not a review of the more exotic (and more expensive) items you might be able to find. Quantity generous, maybe little more so than other equivalent places. In particular, the shrimp tempura roll was longer, with more shrimp, than some other places in the area. As far as taste quality, good but maybe slightly inferior to other places. Shrimp tempura not as tasty and delicately sugared (even tasted a little like boxed frozen), rice not as well seasoned. Still met the need and was conveniently located right off 30 near the Paoli Village Shoppes, in the same general areas as TJ's, one of my favorites. Different owner from the one who ran the corner Sushi Nami right next to the Paoli SEPTA train stop a little farther east off 30, which had been torn down, under eminent domain I think, to expand the station. That place had been really really good. And do not mistake from the namesake in Wayne, which most likely is under different ownership. Not the worst place I've been to, but not the best. I came as part of a group of 3 around 6pm. The restaurant wasn't busy. It took a surprising amount of time to receive our ramen orders, and they came lukewarm. I did enjoy the tempura appetizer I got, and their drink specials are good. read more

I reallllyyyy like Sushi Nami. The vibes are so elegant and relaxed. This restaurant feels very clean, so it's such a pleasant experience. There's classical music playing in the background, and there's just a pleasant vibe all around. I feel like the prices are kinda expensive for this small shop, but it's fine I guess... I enjoyed the takoyaki appetizer. My bf and I ordered 3 rolls: yellowtail, green dragon, and tuna (I think). All were very yummy to me, but only the green dragon roll stood out to my bf. The eel, mango, and avocado meshed together so well; it quite literally melted in my mouth. The rice was just the right temperature. I have to dock a star off this restaurant though because there was a pretty long bone in my tuna sushi :( This didn't ruin my meal but was still an unpleasant surprise to an otherwise amazing meal. Nom Nom Japanese Restaurant in Paoli has permanently closed and a new Sushi Nami Japanese Restaurant has opened in its space under the management of the Sushi Nami restaurant in Wayne. They offer a wide selection sushi along with a number of robust and hearty Ramen bowls just right for staving off the chill of an Autumn eve. Unfortunately the dining-in experience is dreadful. The first time we visited, we waited 90 MINUTES [!] for our appetizers to come out---tonight it was AN HOUR!! Worse yet, both times we had to call the delays attention to the staff---they were too far occupied with the comings and goings of take out customers, some of whom we witnessed place their orders and leave with it whike we waited...and waited... Both times we were one of only three couples dining in. Nevertheless they blamed the delay on "the crowd" on our first visit (this time they admitted the kitchen had lost our order). Other nuisances: they ran out of iced green tva (both times) and tonight apologized that our Mochi desserts were partially melted---then served them and charged us for them! Don't get me wrong: the food is great and the staff is friendly, albeit inattentive. But it's going to be a long, long time before we choose to sit a long, long time watching people who come in after us walk away with their food! read more

I really really wanted to enjoy my meal at this new location. My son ordered the salmon poke bowl, my daughter ordered the chicken ramen and added soy egg, I ordered pork belly ramen with soy egg. Soy egg is not in all ramens so that has to be added for extra charge. The pork belly wasn't as cooked and crispy as I expected it to be. The chicken had a BBQ sauce on it that added a sweetness to the soup which took away from the miso broth. My son stated there was to much ginger in his poke bowl. Had a wonderful experience here: waitstaff was A+, we were seated immediately, food was delivered to our table super fast and tasted delicious. We tried quite a few of the specialty rolls and I could hardly decide which was my favorite because they were all so good! The fact that they're BYOB was a nice bonus as well. Hidden little gem. My daughter and I walked in for a late lunch thinking it was more of a takeout place. We were pleasantly surprised it's full restaurant a really cute patio area to eat outdoors. The patio is secluded with lights and heaters. Staff is friendly and food was amazing! read more

This Location is a spot where restaurants come to die, as it's been many different ones over the years. I hope this one sticks, because it was a pretty good experience. Service was attentive, sushi and appetizers were very good for the most part. Pork buns were an issue, they came out cold. And the Ramen was not very good either. It also came out on the cold side, and looked like it had been sloppily thrown together. So, I would come here for the sushi, and avoid the rest of the menu. read more

Very good. If you like sashimi, consider the Poke Bowl "Chirashi Don". Very good and beautifully presented. It had 3 slices each of tuna, salmon, white tuna, mackerel, shrimp, egg "cake". we also had the scallop roll and tuna roll and shrimp tempura dinner. the tempura batter was a bit heavy for our taste. Everything else was fantastic. Service was great and we sat outside in their lovely patio surrounded by plants and umbrellas with soft jazz music playing. We had to ask for water Bc it was not served to us. We only ordered sushi which takes no cook time and we waited OVER AN HOUR for our food. The dine-in experience was a mess. We had reservations for 4, arrived on time and were seated. There was no one else seated inside the restaurant. Two tables were filled after us, the waitress took their orders first. One table actually got food before our order was even taken. We asked for 2 appetizers and 4 entrées. After another long wait and they bring us 3 entrées, no appetizers - one entrée missing. Three of us ate our entire meals (still no appetizers) and our 4th person was still waiting for his meal long after we had finished. The appetizers never came out. We paid for what we ate and left. Super disappointing. We had really been looking forward to trying out this place all week. The food was decent, but one person not getting anything they ordered to eat ruined it for all of us. If a manager came out and talked to us or they offered to comp a meal, anything to acknowledge the issues, it would have made a difference. read more
