Been to this location about 5 times. Consistently good sushi. Richmond roll, Volcano Roll and Dynamite roll are very good. Not the highest quality (its all you can eat for $17...) and I'm not sure what some of these reviewers were expecting. This isn't "Jiro dreams of Sushi" over here. That being said, for what it is, it's excellent. We love sushi king but each time we go the experience gets worse and worse and I fear we are close to never going back. This particular location has a new hostess every time we go and they never seem to know what they are doing. We went yesterday and waited 10 minutes to even get to the hostess even though there were only two people ahead of us. She had to look in the restaurant twice for each person she was seating. When we got to her she said we would have to wait for them to clean a table despite the fact that there were easily 15 empty clean tables available. During the 10 minutes we were standing there the manager walked past her and never tried to help. Everyone who works in a restaurant has to start somewhere but the manager clearly did not care enough to try and help her. We left without eating. I go to sushi king atleast once a week, and I usually have a good experience at this location; however I received a $50 gift card for my birthday on Friday (which I used during lunch time at the broad street location) and the following Sunday I visited this location to have dinner and was told I only had $2 on the card when I had around $40. I don't know if the waiter swiped it more than once or what, but I'm upset that they basically took $40 from me, especially since the waiter was ditsy the whole time anyways. I won't be coming back to this location. Food was okay, but I won't get over this especially since he threw out the card so I couldn't even check the balance history of the card. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I have been to 2 other Sushi King restaurants multiple & have never had this bad of an experience.. This was our first time at this location & we were expecting good service like we get at the other 2 locations, but the stupidity started at the door. They had a wait so they took our name, but they were calling numbers.. The host called #45 a few times while my party & another party looked around confused because none of us had numbers. The host came back calling #93 & asked the same people who didn't have numbers if we were #93. Anyway, we got seated after about 30 mins. We ordered our drinks & our food shortly after, cool. BUT my husband didn't get part of his first order. I told him to chill because it was a "Volcano Roll" which is deep fried, so it may take a little longer... We finished our first helping of hibachi with rice & he still didn't have his roll so he ordered another. After maybe 40 mins, they brought his volcano roll & it wasn't even warm... We didn't get refills for our drinks the whole time we were there, which was about 2 hours considering how terrible & SLOW the service was. Our cups were empty more than they were full... We had to constantly search for our waiter & ask him if our food was coming. We asked for a military discount & they gave us $1 off. Then we had to WAIT TO PAY, finally my husband took the check up to the host so we could hurry up & leave. We won't be back at this location. I enjoy this place so much! I came Saturday and Sunday this past weekend. I've never had a bad experience here and I started going when the only location was the bull street location. It's good to see them growing! The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is because the sushi can take a little while to come out. The hibachi entree, teriyaki entree, appetizers like crab Rangoon's or shrimp tempura is amazing! My wife and I decided after driving past a dozen times a month that we would give the place a try. We went for lunch at around 12:40 on a Thursday and the place wasn't too busy. Our server was very nice and checked on us often. We mentioned it was our first visit and she explained the details of the restaurant and how the all you can eat experience worked. This information is readily available on their website, but essentially you order your food from a menu like any other place except that you only pay one price and you can keep ordering. The sign out front made me think the interior would be as boisterous and loud as the sign was, I was worried about this but a previous review gave me some hope. When you get inside it is actually quite nice. The walls are a bit bright but the lighting compliments it well. The decor is minimalist, so overall I felt it complimentary to the dining experience. The food itself was good. My wife got the hibachi style entrees and appetizers. Two house salads which came with the signature ginger dressing and two orders of the hibachi with one being chicken, and the other shrimp whereas I shopped exclusively sushi. The hibachi offerings were small, but that's fine with the way this place works. However, the vegetable side was 80% onion and a small offering of the mushrooms, squash, and broccoli. We may try to order it without onion next time and see if they fill the plate with the remainder seeing as my wife won't eat onions and I end up having to do so. The chicken is cut very small and comes out a bit dry because of this, but I'm sure it is done to make the plate look proportionately correct. Also, the yum yum sauce didn't really have a strong flavor. (I couldn't taste it at all) but the ginger sauce was very good. Lastly, The shrimp comes with tails, so request they be cut off. I have yet to have a kitchen not comply with this request yet. *Tangent* I'm not sure when this trend for restaurants to leave the tails on started, but it's very annoying as I end up having to remove the tails for my wife while my food gets cold. We got the gyoza and I started off with the Kani salad and got two full sized rolls as my entrees. I could've finished a third roll except that I had to eat an entire onion to keep from having to pay extra to the "wasted food fee" which I in no way disagree with. *Tangent* Sushi King features all you can eat offerings, but they don't offer any take-away for your leftovers. They may also add a fee for "excessive" waste of food. As previously stated; I do not, in any way, disagree with this policy. My wife and I tallied up our meal according to their to go menu for take out customers. And we would've paid double the lunch price for the amount of food we got. Don't get discouraged by this, I didn't and I now have a new favorite place for lunch. Lastly, I wanted to bring attention to a couple of items I highly recommend for anyone eating here to try. The Kani salad is a very flavorful bowl of crab meat and thinly sliced veggies topped with roux. I've had it elsewhere and gotten a significantly larger portion than offered here, but the flavor was out of this world at Sushi King. The volcano roll is a solid choice for non-raw sushi. As you can tell I'm a fan of crab. I also like eel, salmon, tuna, and shrimp. But I tend to stay away from raw at new places until I've seen their chef's attention to detail. Sushi King does a great job with regards to quality and presentation so I have no doubts I'll be going back for more. Also, I had the Crazy Monkey Roll. This is crab on top of fried banana. Turn your brain off and try it. It doesn't sound like it would be, but this roll is amazing. If nothing else it would make a good finisher as it has a sweet taste to it. Tl;Dr Sushi King provides good sushi at an all you can eat price. Their hibachi offerings aren't the best, but are still good for the price. It took 30 minutes for us to place our first order... we had our soup before we got drinks... had to stop a completely different waiter to get drinks twice and no one at our table was able to order more than 2 rolls in 2 hours because service was so slow. We ended up mostly just eating from the cold appetizer bar. For $20 a head for a family of 4 for all you can eat sushi... we either were ignored to save money or our server was just that slow/forgetful. While there, 2 tables in his section yelled at him and 1 of them walked out fuming so I get he had a ton on his hands but we went 30m without being acknowledged. I ended up getting three different rolls but with the wait time I was full and felt a little disappointed. First off, it was freezing in the restaurant and I kept my coat on! I love this place, every time I've gone the sushi has been very good and never made me sick. It takes a few minutes to get the sushi, but it's understandable because it's made in house. I dig this place. No reservations so come early on the weekend evenings. The sushi and rolls are made to order off a menu. There's a nice little appetizer bar with seaweed salad, squid salad, avocado, pepper tuna and a decent variety of other choices. The food is fresh and the service is generally pretty quick. (For those below who complain about the wait- your food is being made for you, it's not a rush. Relax and talk!) If you're not a sushi fan, there's hibachi, noodles, spring rolls, soup, crab Rangoon and some other choices. Did I mention frozen yogurt?! Service is always friendly and everyone always seems to be busting butt in there. When it's busy, it can take longer to get things, but it's not because the staff is sitting around. These people work! (Also- TIP THEM) The menu claims to order one thing at a time, but the staff generally allows you to order 3 or 4. The restrictions are to cut back on wasting food- which I think is fantastic. The food always tastes good. The bar food is always fresh looking and on plenty of ice. $20 goes a long long way here. read more

RUDE! We have gone several times and the food was ok. It was JUST ok. My friends are all into the sushi craze and like trying the different menu items. Friday 5-10-19 we were seated around 6pm. They were not that busy (usually they are decently busy) we were seated in the front actually in the table pictured on the yelp site. We had some items that took a bit and the primary waitress was nice and came around eventually to take our orders. They were so pushy that I had a call on my phone and the girl came and was taking my food while I was still eating. Seriously you just sat it down why would I be done? Then we stupidly paid our check, since they came and asked if we wanted the check while eating some items. This caused the girl at the front to start a creepy staring contest with me. She stood and stared while we were talking. My friend had gone to the rest room and we were waiting for him. She was unable to help anyone and just stared. There were empty tables all around. Then she came to our table and asked us to move so they could put a table in next to ours. Her explanation was they wanted to make a bigger table and we would not be able to get out after they did that. (think about that statement for a second) They then jammed a table in and walked away. It was so honestly shamelessly rude I was standing looking that them walking away with other patrons looking going "What was that about". I said "I guess once you pay the check they expect you to get the hell out. I was not impressed from how horrible the outside looked, the smell in the bathrooms and the stingy business model. This place is a joke, the chicken is thin processed food. They provided you with steamed fresh looking vegetable and sauces in order to hide the processed meats. A its called a buffet, its not, you order from a menu, I had a 3 yr old child, who was hungry, so we ordered fries and corn dogs(mini)3 per order, and they dip fry everything in the same fryer,so everything taste likes seafood. So after 20 minutes,(where at a buffet) they bring out the 3 mini corn dogs, a two bowls of soup. No fries, Kids should be served first I explained, so we had to wait another 15 min at this point, where leaving. The worst customer service and the take for ever to bring you. All you can eat Sushi sounded like a terrible idea when I first heard about it, so I resisted coming here for several years. However, I finally broke down and dragged a friend of mine in with me. When we walked in we were immediately greeted and seated. The ambiance and decor is nice, though I don't remember specifics so I'm guessing it wasn't nice enough to be memorable. It was a Saturday around 4-5, but they weren't as busy as I expected. There were many empty tables, but for some reason we were seated at the very back of the restaurant, in the same room as a large birthday party. And this is where the "Here, hold my beer" portion of the evening begins. These people were partying like it was 1999; loud and obnoxious. Selfies flashing, small children running around unsupervised, shrieking and laughing with careless abandon...I could go on, but I just don't want to. Suffice to say, it was distracting. However, as annoyed as I was throughout most of my meal, I can't really blame them. It was a birthday party, so they should be able to have fun. What I don't understand is, with approximately a third of the restaurant empty, why anyone would be seated in the "party room" with those folks. Three other tables were seated after us, and each looked equally as annoyed and uncomfortable as us. Leave them to their shenanigans, and let me eat my sushi without having my ears repeatedly assaulted, please. Which brings me to the actual reason for our visit: the food. We were told we could order from the entire menu, plus the salad bar, so we did. We started with the Crab Rangoon and the Gyoza Dumplings, and they were both delicious. We also ordered the Miso Soup, which we both thought was pretty bland. The non-sushi things we ordered were the Beef Fried Rice, Hibachi Chicken, and Teriyaki Steak. The Beef Fried Rice was okay but not very flavorful. The Hibachi Chicken had to be brought out a second time because they got it wrong the first time and tried to give us someone else's Hibachi Steak (something they did several times to the tables around us as well), but when we finally got it it was pretty tasty. The Teriyaki Steak was the best of the three, the steak was cooked nicely and the flavor was really good. In between all of the other things we ordered, we were also eating a whole bunch of sushi as well, which included the Spider Roll, Dragon Roll, King Roll, Sea Angel Roll, Hawaii Roll, Hollywood Roll, Rainbow Roll, and Tokyo Roll. We each ordered different ones and just shared, so we each got to try most of the menu. The sushi was good, cold, and tasted fresh. However, the fish portions seemed quite thing and small, almost to the point of not being able to taste the fish behind the sauces and other ingredients. Also, the presentation was AWFUL. Each roll was brought out just cut up and divided on a plate with absolutely no creativity whatsoever. From some of the pictures I'd seen before going, I had expected a little more than what looked like sushi from a buffet line. Speaking of a buffet line, the salad bar was the only thing we barely got to try. We did go over after we finished everything else we ordered, but only had room left in our stomachs for their "desserts," if you can call them that. They only had two options, Tiramisu or Cheesecake, and neither was worth the effort it took to lift the fork to my mouth. I can't say enough terrible things about this, because they were bland, dry, absolutely NOTHING like Tiramisu or Cheesecake, and they looked and tasted cheap. To be honest, they would be better off not offering dessert at all than forcing that crap on their customers. My mother is begging me to take her, so I'll probably have to give them another try sometime soon. But if my next experience is similar to this one, I won't be going back. My husband and I came in at 5:30 and they weren't busy at all. We watch the restaurant pack in, and watch the two servers drown because too many tables were full and they couldn't handle it. We placed our orders for drinks and sushi, all good and normal. What bothered me was the fact that it took nearly twenty minutes for us to get our food (while other tables who ordered at the same time as us were served before us) and nearly a half hour for us to get our water after we asked twice where it was. They weren't busy at all (maybe five tables in our section and three in another section. Honestly, they seemed a bit overstaffed given how many guests they had. So their SALUTE to VETERANS (on Memorial Day) they display on their site 15% off for vets..... lunch is $11.99 per what I saw on site AND what waitress told me. That is one of the reasons we went to Japanese Sushi King for lunch because cheaper than the dinner price, which we have been to previously and paid accordingly. When we paid for LUNCH, my sister's credit card was charged $18.99 each. When we got in the car, we started thinking and it did not make sense. My sister didn't know the price but I certainly did. We immediately went back in and spoke to the "manager" who told us it is $11.99 Mon - Friday, well, ummm today is Monday ! Then his excuse was that it was a holiday so they were charging dinner prices. RIP OFF. My sister is calling her credit card company to dispute the overcharge and bait and switch done. THEN, they have the audacity to "give" vets 15% off .... We have been there many times and my son and his fiance go all the time. I will never return, my family will never return because of this fiasco and what I consider deception. The manager would do absolutely nothing, could have cared less and said, "Oh Well". Disgraceful to use the holiday as excuse to charge dinner price for lunch and act as if they care about the military and their service. I spent time on their website and facebook page the night before and nothing was mentioned about charging full dinner prices for a lunch. I am in love with the place recently. "All You Can Eat" concept of Sushi and Hibachi restaurant, and the food definitely worth with the price. I always start with Miso Soup and my favorite appetizer Shrimp Shumai Dumplings. Then I go for the hibachis, and Sushis. Good food all the time. Last visit I found my new favorite roll Sea Angel Roll, I love the crunches on top of it. The server was attentive, and friendly. I really liked this restaurant and concept of all you can eat. They have your typical sushi rolls and hand rolls. There's also a nice selection of beers to choose from. I will definitely recommend bringing your appetite because there is plenty to eat. I understand that there are currently issues due to Covid however the first time I went to sushi king (which was during Covid) it was amazing. Have gone back many times and still loved it. Well, the last few times going it has gone very down hill. First I have to start with the outside appearance. The awnings outside are awful. It was a turn off before the first time we went. However we have heard so many good things about this restaurant we decided to overlook it. We walked in and the inside looks good and the food was great. So now the to present date the food and service has completely slipped. Tonight we were so disappointed it took forever to be served. The presentation of the sushi was like a toddler threw the pieces of sushi on the plate. The food was lukewarm at best. I order to different beers Tsingtao and Kirin Ichiban (both on the menu) and was told they only have American beer. So I ordered a soda which took a long time to come. The service use to be fast and is now so slow it makes you not want to come back. On top the prices went up. Just all around disappointed. read more

On Monday we had a bad experience, our waiter Kyle from the first moment had a bad attitude towards us, he never brought us chopsticks or cutlery, or plates for soy sauce, from there he started to misbehave and make bad gestures, I asked him if There was fresh jalapeño and she told us that they didn't have it when all restaurants use it, then I stopped to talk to the manager there and told her and she only said that they didn't give jalapeño because it was from the dinner portion and we were in lunch , I told her that it did not matter that I could pay it and they told me that it was fine, then when the waitress brought the jalapeno side, I only brought 3 pieces of jalapeño, to which it bothered me more that she was laughing at that, I got up to talk to the manager to tell her how rude the waitress had been and the only thing she said was that she behaved like that because we never left a tip and I was surprised because it was the first time she went to that place, she was discriminating against us For being Latino saying that we never leave a tip, so it bothered me a lot, the waitress and the manager just laughed, nobody else wanted to attend us, I am a manager in a restaurant and before everything is the clients, I am one of the people who do not I like my clients to leave with a bad experience even if they don't leave a tip, clients are the priority, very bad experience and I hope that no one goes through that again, and I never go back to that place or recommend it read more

I would first like to say that the service was outstanding. My hostess for this particular day was a young lady whose name was Ruprineeti( hope I spelled it almost correctly) lol. She asked if I had been there before because I looked familiar. I stated that I had never been there and I lived right around the corner. Well she goes on to explain to me the process of the all you can eat Sushi Bar. I said fantastic and began to order away. I went during the peak lunch hour and only had to wait about 5 minutes to be seated, which I did not think was bad. I started with the miso soup and the salad bar. Next I would have shrimp and vegetable tempura. A couple of pieces of sushi (masago is my favorite) and 2 rolls (volcano and crunchy tuna), oh and hot tea.
