We went for the all you can eat lunch and were quite pleased - particularly in light of the very reasonable price. The premises are clean and well cared for. The decor wasn't special, more simple but appropriate. The service was the only sore spot. Initially our server was attentive, but he dropped off as the meal progressed. The food itself was very good. The fish was high quality and the presentation was excellent. I would like my rice a bit more seasoned, but in most cases it wasn't noticeable. I would come back if I found myself back in Sugarland.

This was the first AYCE sushi spot to pop up in Sugar Land. It's a chain restaurant with several locations in Houston. Came here for the AYCE lunch option. The menu was pretty standard in terms of AYCE lunch. I did notice there was no beef or pork items minus the ramen. One of the more unique items was the salmon skin salad. If you enjoy crispy salmon skin, this is the item to get! I was surprised that there was an accompanying menu for lunch that included ramen and a few other items. The ramen was scant, but the broth was rather nice. Wasn't a fan of the avocado salad, as it contained an abundance of iceberg lettuce. The sushi itself was pretty good! They weren't overly stuffed with rice like some places. The nigiri was good as well, with hearty portions of seafood. I lot of people were taking advantage of other lunch specials like two rolls for like $15. Smart if you don't want to return to work bloated. Overall a nice spot.

I've been to Sushi Masa twice. Once for a friend's birthday dinner and second with my husband. My first experience was really great! There was a large group of maybe 15 people, when we arrived I think they made the group wait until 1/2 the group was there to be seated. As a vegetarian I was thinking noodles because the all you can eat sushi onky seemed worth it for non vegetarians. I got noodles and they were good! One thing I noted was for the all you can eat sushi, they will not let you order anymore food until you finish what's on your plate- heads up! The second time going was less of a great experience. When we arrived on a Friday evening we were seated and I really wanted sushi so hot vegetarian sushi. When it arrived it didn't look appetizing at all. The vegetables were huge and so the cut of sushi didn't look good, there was also lettuce which I've never seen at a sushi place. I was expecting something different. Veggie sushi is a lot better at other locations. I ate maybe two bites and we left. I think the all you can eat sushi is worth it but if you're vegetarian I'd stick to non sushi options!

The good- Sashimis were good specifically the yellow tail and white tuna Our servers were attentive to our requests The rolls we tried were so so ( they could improve their variations by eliminating the fake crabs or kani as their base) $1 margaritas on AYCE dinner! Tasty. The bad - Orders run through congestions when busy. At times it can take awhile, no exaggeration. (twas a Sunday eve and I'm assuming this time frame of 4-7pm is their busiest) Those who deliver what you've ordered most of the time just throws your food on the table (it was always this young tall brother, he apologizes but he doesn't care at all lol) I wanted to complain to the manager cause thrice he did it to my wife's food but I just don't want to ruin our good time together and our server was friendly and helpful so tried to be considerate that time). But I assured her I'll put it here in my review so I hope management will be listening. Worth coming back? I think so. But I guess the technique on making sure your food wouldn't be backed up is by always following up with your server. The deep fried cheesecake btw is delish.

I heard about Sushi Masa via an Instagram influencer and drove from Katy to give it a try. I love AYCE sushi, but I have to say this was average. I like the decor of the restaurant as well as the instant greeters. The price was great as well. However, the sushi was cold and just didn't stand out. They're a ton of options, but to be honest the best dish I had was the red bean ice cream. Service was pretty quick as well as clean up.

Right off of 59 in First Colony Commons, this is a fun yet loud sushi spot. Decor is cultural and inviting and greeters at the door are quick and friendly. Waitress came within 5 minutes and we started with the lunch buffet- which is basically anything on the lunch menu. We enjoyed every roll, hand roll and appetizers except the i-10 mango roll. That's an acquired taste! Desserts are free but it's only ice cream. If you want the fried Oreo or fried cheesecake you need to order from the dinner menu buffet option or pay extra. It's one of the better sushi spots around town! Check it out!

I went here during peak hours with my girlfriend, and even though it was packed, we were waitlisted and seated pretty quick. Sushi Masa was very reminiscent of most other AYCE sushi places I've tried, although I'll say the sushi quality slightly beats my usual spots over on the southeast side. They have a big variety of non-sushi appetizers and sides that are included in the AYCE. Even though I'm there for the sushi, admittedly, the fried rice was among the best Japanese style fried rice I've tried anywhere. I'm always on the look for the non-traditional specialty rolls, so the I-10 and Masa rolls definitely hit the spot. If this was a regular sushi spot, I mightve only given a 4, but the value of the AYCE is the real winner. The fact that I can pay 20 bucks and destroy 6 rolls plus sides by myself is enough to earn my 5 stars.

This location is definitely better than the one in Spring when you consider service and food. The server we had was awesome but he said he was leaving for college and will no longer be in town to work there. I think his name was Brandon, not sure. But the bartender also was nice and gave me happy hour pricing because our wait was soooo long because we had a very large party. The food portions here are good for AYCE. All the food we had was delicious and drinks were great. We enjoyed our dinner here. There was plenty of space for our large party and we weren't seated too closely to others.

It's been about 2 yrs since I last went back to Sushi Masa for AYCE, and they've definitely improved in terms of everything. The AYCE menu has changed, and many of the options are made differently from before. Even the service and wait times this time were so much better than all of my previous visits. I went as a party of 4 on a Sunday early afternoon. Even though it was busy, I only had to wait 10 minutes before getting a table. We did the AYCE lunch menu for $20.95/person. It comes with a decent variety of sushi, appetizers, soups, tempura, teriyaki, fried rice/noodles, and ice creams. The sushi rolls and the nigiri had a good ratio of rice to the rest. They have regular rolls, hand rolls, and special rolls, which were all tasty. My favorite roll was the Shaggy Dog, and I also tried the 225 Roll, I-10 Roll, Little Tokyo Roll, and the Texas Roll. I also got the shrimp tempura hand roll, but the shrimp itself was not there (it was only the tempura), which was a bit disappointing. Some of the other dishes I ordered were shumai, shrimp tempura, age tofu, yakitori, miso soup, steak fried rice, and steak noodle. My favorites among these were the shumai and the steak fried rice. I also got the red bean and green tea ice creams, and both were really good. I really love the changes that they did to the menu and the foods compared to before, so I would definitely come back here again if I felt like getting AYCE Japanese/sushi in Sugar Land.

Review for Sushi Masa - Sugar Land Tim is back at Sushi Masa in Sugar Land after his stint at the Westheimer location--and we couldn't be happier! Tim is the best server--his attention to detail and genuine care make every visit special. The food is always fresh and delicious, but it's the team effort that keeps everything flowing. The food runners keep this place working seamlessly. Overall, a fantastic dining experience every time!

We had an appt in Sugarland again; we decided to try an AYCE sushi place just to see if they'd be better than Sumo. Spoiler alert; they're not: Service was decent; our waitress was pleasant but we barely saw her. The food was mid: steak was chewy but the rice was good. Shrimp lo mein was good too. The seaweed salad was very good but had cucumber in it. The miso soup tasted like water and the salads had a drop of dressing, which was good so I wanted more. The shumai was tepid and a lil mushy but the apps were very limited. The whole menu was limited; what annoyed me was it was 21$ but if you wanted something decent, it was ala carte. The sushi selection was super limited and mid. The I 10 roll was gross with unripe mango; the 225 roll was good-- what's not to like about cream cheese, fried shrimp, crab salad with crunchy and eel sauce on top?! We love raw tuna and salmon--none there, only rolls. Overall, I would not drive back there. Back to Sumo!

He's been telling me about this place for a while, so I came in already expecting great sushi, and it definitely delivered. First off, they have all-day happy hour, which is always a win. We started with the yellowtail sashimi, and it was incredibly fresh and flavorful such a great way to kick things off. For drinks, he ordered a Legend Old Fashioned, and I went with the lychee martini... and yes, I had two because it was that good light, slightly sweet, and super refreshing. For our rolls, I got the Hot Momma roll and he had the Julie Crunch roll. Everything came out perfectly fresh, well-balanced, and beautifully presented. You can really tell they put care into both the quality and the experience. Also, shoutout to Emilio he was so sweet and attentive throughout the night and really made the experience even better. Between the food, drinks, and the overall vibe, this place checked all the boxes. I can 100% see this becoming one of our regular date night spots going forward. Highly recommend if you're in the mood for great sushi and a relaxed atmosphere!

I wished that something could've been done to push our order through since we were actively dining, but I guess it just got put at the end of the queue. I also felt like compared to the past, some pieces of our shiso hasami age were way too small. Keeper's is always a solid choice for decently priced sushi, especially due to their happy hour that is nearly all day every day

They also had fried rice nigiri, as in the piece of rice was deep fried and topped with salmon or tuna. This was also interesting to eat. They also had udon as a part of their ayce but I'll save that for next time. Along with lots of baked scallops. Decorwise, the lights were nicely dimmed and I liked the scales lamps above us. The ice cream came right away but then we waited another 20 mins when our waitress came back again and we had to ask her about the oreo. After that.. She had us wait for another 20 minutes for the check and I had to call the server from the next section to get our check. I've watched another section served by a different server who was very attentive and brought their dishes out right away when they would order things after us. It was disappointing.. Food is good and I like their many options. I wouldn't say it is the best but the fish does taste fresh. Many of their rolls contained the wasabi sauce which my partner wasn't a big fan of. Many of the rolls tasted like it was drowned in this sauce. I didn't get to take a picture of every order. The lo mein was not good, I'm not use to having lo mein with the noodles they make it with. Overall, I can see why this place is very popular but it won't be my go-to for AYCE sushi compared to another place that I like more that's nearby. I don't think I'll be coming back though as I was very displeased with the service.

While they don't offer lakeside seating, there are plenty of options inside the spacious, two-story restaurant. On the weekends, they indicate "No lunch AYCE" - don't be confused by the wording like we were. This only means that they don't offer the "lunch price" AYCE on the weekends. No biggie, as the dinner price/menu was perfectly fine and opened up more options for us to order. Lunch price AYCE does not offer sashimi (nigiri only), whereas dinner price AYCE has the whole menu as fair game. Some of the menu items do have limits, like the toro (1 piece/adult AYCE). Additionally, each person can order a max of 10 nigiri or sashimi per round. You also only get 1 serving of dessert per AYCE. They also have a silly rule of $0.50 per uneaten rice for nigiri; I suppose this encourages folks to fill up on rice in the nigiri, as sashimi is not an option during weekday lunch AYCE. Our party of 5 ordered a multitude of items on the menu. The fish quality was definitely there and everything tasted fresh. We ordered a few rounds of the seared nigiri, specialty nigiri, and sushi towers. Standouts were eel/unagi sashimi, crunch garlic & scallion salmon nigiri, seared Kobe beef nigiri, seared tuna nigiri, and seared yellowtail nigiri. These were the ones we ordered multiple rounds, but we made an honest attempt to at least try as much of the menu offerings as we could. If only our stomachs had more room! I will say the hot/cooked items (bulgogi, galbi, beef skewer) could have been better...but what can you say, this is a sushi restaurant. That doesn't speak for all of the hot items. I really liked the basil chicken nuggets (Taiwanese popcorn chicken) and vegetable tempura; the shrimp tempura was also a hit at the table. Our server was very knowledgeable and attentive throughout our time. At times we'd forget what we had ordered of the many items, so he'd swing by the table once the food was brought out to tell us what's what, and who ordered what. Excellent service! For AYCE sushi, Oma is definitely on top of its game. I've been to a few others around Houston, and this one stands out as one of the premium ones in my opinion. The jalapeño was too crunchy for me, my preference is to have it softer but I feel like the flavor wasn't really there. One of the standout appetizers was the beef tongue from the appetizer menu. That was a 10 out of 10. It came with a sauce on top that was really good and brought everything together perfectly. We had the coconut shrimp appetizer as well. The shrimp itself was decent, but the fried coating tasted like the oil wasn't very fresh. It was crunchy, but the flavor of the oil came through, so I'd rate that about a 5 out of 10. We also ordered fried calamari . I'd rate that around a 6 out of 10. It was okay, but when you bit into it, the octopus would slide out and leave you mostly with the fried outer crust, and the crust itself wasn't that flavorful. The ambiance was beautiful, very clean, modern, and nicely designed. It felt comfortable and well put together. Service was fine, nothing that stands out.
