Lobster Deluxe Roll and Cloud 9 Rollsha

We eat here regularly. Consistently very good sushi. Excellent service and nice atmosphere.

Get this, leave hungry.

I had such high hopes, and the lunch was such a disappointment. I made it just in time for a sushi/sashimi lunch combo on a Saturday. The place was busy even at that time, which I thought was a good sign. My server was nice and efficient, and in no time I had my salad, platter and diet soda in front of me. The platter was described as 9 pieces of sashimi and 3 pieces nigiri for $21.99. Well, the nigiri was the normal size that you would expect from any sushi place, but the sashimi pieces were so tiny and thin, that I guarantee if you stuck all of them together, they wouldn't equal one piece of the nigiri that was served. I can't believe the restaurant wouldn't be embarrassed to serve pieces so tiny. I took a picture, but I should have used a penny for scale, because I guarantee you can't imagine just how tiny these pieces of sashimi were. For meal, soda and tip it came to $30, and I left hungry. If there is no food left anywhere on Earth except here, and I'm forced to come here again, I'll try the sushi rolls, because the ones I saw looked good.

The environment is nice. Staff were friendly. We ordered two rolls, they were ok. Menu only at the qrcode.

*To go order review* My favorite sushi spot in the Tampa area. I abSOLUTELY LOVE their Buddha Roll and I highly recommend it. The BUDDHA roll was so good I've ordered it multiple times and would order it again and again. I recently tried their tuna nachos, I've been wanting to try them for a while. They weren't bad, pretty good but different than what I expected. I usually call ahead and pickup my order, I haven't had the pleasure of sitting inside the restaurant as of yet but they are usually quick with orders and the customer service is good for to go orders.

First time here started with the goyza. Very nice dumpling with the perfect sear on them. Light with a flavorful filling. Got the Diablo roll. Rice on roll cooked perfect and the roll had great flavor and nice heat to it. Also had the baby octopus. Done nicely and sauce was great on it. Will def be back

As an avid sushi lover I really had high expectations based on reviews, but my experience fell flat. I really didn't enjoy the sushi rice, it wasn't the best quality, rather off putting actually. The presentation of our to-go food was excellent. They provided plenty of napkins, utensils and tempura flakes in separate containers for the clear soup. The tuna roll and the salmon roll automatically came with avocado, which was a little surprising but not terrible, assuming one likes avocado. The spicy tuna roll really wasn't that good. Perhaps a dine in experience is better.

Fantastic food, great service and the ambiance is warm and inviting. Always have a great time sitting at the sushi bar watching the chefs do their magic. Never a disappointment with whatever we order.

I keep coming back to this place for sushi. The servers have always been nice, and the food comes out pretty quick. The ambiance is casual and the prices are about average. I gave them five starts only because it may not the absolute best sushi I've ever had, but I keep coming back to it.

Pile Up Roll. Inside shrimp tempura, avocado and cream cheese. On top crab salad, tempura flakes, spicy mayo, eel sauce and scallions.

Stopped in for a quick bite after a movie. My server was very friendly and accommodating. I ordered the Pile Up Roll which had shrimp tempura, avocado and cream cheese inside. On top crab salad, tempura flakes, spicy mayo, eel sauce and scallions. It was really tasty. I was surprised the Green Mussels were served cold. I've never had them cold, always had them baked. They had gluten free soy sauce which was a plus for me. They don't have physical menus. It's all with a QR code. I don't do QR codes so I had to rely on the menu from Yelp. I enjoyed the atmosphere as well.

Sushi Maru was on our " Must Go To " once we moved here, per our hairstylist! Definitely didn't fail! Our server, was so attentive! Cucumber Delight, was my fav! It was absolutely refreshing after the other rolls! Rolls came out quick, we also had chicken fried rice. Everything was spot on! TV's on for baseball, everything was perfect!

White Tuna & Avocado and Sunset Roll

It had been years since I returned to Sushi Maru (mainly because I very rarely travel the Brandon area). Stopped by between appointments for a solo lunch and fell in love all over again. I ordered the Sunset roll (fresh salmon, yellow tail, cucumber, avocado wrapped with seared salmon and topped with spicy mayo) and white tuna with avocado maki. I held the eel sauce for my gluten sensitivity. First bite reminded me why this place was like my second home years ago. Absolute perfection. The restaurant hasn't changed much except for covid-19 precautions. The barstools were removed and masks were required inside. I felt safely distanced at my table. Staff is still incredibly pleasant. Relieved to know the best sushi joint in Brandon stood the test of time and is surviving the pandemic. Dish worth driving to!

First off shout out to Ahmed. He was a cool waiter. On point with everything me and my wife needed for lunch! We started off with the Gyoza which was ok. I'd say about a 6/10. Woulda been better if it was a little more well done. The short ribs I ordered were about a 5/10 the flavor was just way to overpowering and very very chewy and hard to eat on a few of them. Not a very good meat to fat and tendon ratio. The clear soup about a 7/10. The vegetables 5/10. Very bland just steamed veggies not necessarily bad but definitely nothing to write home about. And the rice was about a 6/10. Didn't taste authentic. As for the decor and staff they are spot on! All very friendly and quick with service. The tables and chairs are cool and unique. Just the food itself wasn't it for me. But hey I still say if you reading this, go give it a try and let me know what u think pics below.

My waiter was amazing and provided great service throughout my visit. The ambiance inside was spacious, peaceful, and quiet, which I really enjoyed. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely recommend coming here!

Last week, I had lunch with a friend at Sushi Ninja and ordered several dishes. Before leaving, I…read moreplaced an additional order to take home. When the takeout order was brought to my table, I did not inspect it immediately because we were still finishing our meal. Approximately 10 minutes later, as we were preparing to leave, I checked the order and realized that it was incorrect. I brought the issue to the waitress's attention and explained that I had not touched the food; it was still inside the original takeout container the restaurant had provided. The waitress spoke with a supervisor named Ukari. I was told that the restaurant could not take the food back because it had been sitting at the table and could not be resold for safety reasons. I was then expected to pay for the incorrect meal and place a new order if I wanted something else. Although I was disappointed with the resolution, I complied in good faith. I ordered another dish and paid for my meal in full. This week, I had the same experience. I placed a takeout order by phone and gave very specific instructions. I ordered two meals in separate boxes, without ginger or wasabi, because the food was for my children. When ordering the sushi, I specifically requested salmon and asked the employee three separate times whether it was cooked. I clearly explained that I did not want uncooked salmon. The employee, Kayley, assured me that the salmon was cooked. I was initially quoted a total of $21. However, when I arrived to pay, I was told the total was $28. When I questioned the difference, I was informed that I had been charged extra for a topping. I paid for the order and left with the food. Once I reached my car in the parking lot, I opened the bag so my children could begin eating. Immediately, I noticed that the salmon appeared raw and was not what I had specifically requested. I left the parking lot and returned to the restaurant with the food. I explained that this was the second time I had ordered cooked salmon and received something different. I was told that the salmon was smoked before being delivered to the restaurant and was therefore "technically cooked." I spoke with Ukari, the supervisor, and Kayley, who had taken my phone order. I asked them to look at the salmon and explained that I had specifically requested cooked salmon three times because my children would be eating it and they do not eat raw salmon. Instead of addressing my concern, the conversation became a back-and-forth over whether smoked salmon should be considered cooked. When I asked whether the salmon in front of us actually looked cooked, they declined to answer directly. I was again told that the restaurant could not take the food back. Despite explaining the situation, I was not offered an exchange or a reasonable resolution. Instead, I was told to place another order for a different dish. I ultimately left the original food on the counter and took pictures of the salmon. After I explained that I intended to dispute the charge with my credit card company, I was finally offered the option of speaking with the manager. By that point, I had already spent a considerable amount of time trying to resolve the issue and needed to pick up my other child from school. I ended up paying for a new order. Unfortunately, that order came with wasabi and ginger, despite my original request for separate boxes without either ingredient. My child cannot tolerate the smell of wasabi and ginger and was unable to eat the food. Why I Am Concerned About Food Safety: My concern is not simply whether the restaurant classifies smoked salmon as cooked. It is that I explicitly requested cooked salmon, asked for confirmation three times, and relied on the employee's assurance when placing the order. Raw or inadequately cooked fish can carry pathogens or parasites that may cause foodborne illness. I am not claiming that the salmon I received was contaminated, and I cannot establish that anyone became ill from it. Nevertheless, when food is intended for children, clear communication about whether fish is raw, smoked, or fully cooked is especially important. I have attached pictures of the salmon I received so others can see what prompted my concern. I have also included comparison images identified as cooked salmon for reference. I am disappointed by the lack of a satisfactory resolution and the inconsistent handling of my concerns. I believe customers deserve accurate information about food preparation, clear communication about prices, careful attention to special instructions, and respectful customer service when something goes wrong. I am sharing this experience so other customers can make informed decisions if they choose to dine at this restaurant. I was absolutely blown away by this place!…read more I was staying at the hotel next door and didn't feel like getting ripped off by Uber Eats, so I decided to venture over to the small plaza next to the hotel. There were several spots there, but this one immediately caught my attention. Small, tucked away, and with the words "Sushi" and "Ramen" on the sign. That was all I needed to see. I walked in, picked up the food I had already ordered, and headed back to the hotel. I was too tired to sit down and enjoy my meal there... maybe I should have. Maybe next time? The ambiance is great! The wall art was fantastic, and it felt like a small izakaya straight out of Japan. The place was full, which says a lot considering it's pretty far from the touristy parts of town. I had the Shoyu Ramen and it was fantastic...comforting, rich, and full of flavor. They better not change a thing about that bowl because it was perfect. I also tried the calamari legs appetizer. Crispy, perfectly seasoned, and the dipping sauce was amazing. I'll be in the Brandon area again in two weeks, and I can't wait to go back. I'm getting the same ramen bowl and will definitely try a sushi roll... or two.
