I first came across this place on Yelps 100 best ramen in the US. Finally got a chance to visit and didn't even try the ramen. Lol. Instead I had a sushi roll and shared an order of fried rice and chicken katsu. Everything was great. The chicken was crispy, but not dry on the inside. Fried rice has a nice flavor and wasn't overwhelmed with vegetables and other ingredients. My roll was great too. I can't recall which one it was but it had shrimp tempura eel sauce and spicy mayo. The shrimp was crisp, the sauces complemented well and I really enjoyed them. Very delicious sushi! Had an awesome dinner with my friend Cheyenne a couple weeks back here and she explained to me that this is her favorite spot to get sushi. We dined in and from first glance they have a good amount of seating inside and the lighting is a little dark but not too bad. I decided to order a specialty roll which I can't remember the name of and some crab rangoon. It didn't take long for our food to come out and it was so fresh. The crab rangoon was perfectly crispy and a good amount of filling inside. The specialty roll was very nice it was a kani wrapped in tuna it was very light with good flavor. We recently tried Sushi Ushi and were pleasantly surprised! It's a small restaurant, but we were seated within 15 minutes, which was great. The waitress was very attentive and friendly throughout our visit -- excellent service overall. We started with the calamari appetizer, which unfortunately was a miss. It was just rings and didn't taste very good, so we sent it back. To their credit, they didn't charge us for it, which we really appreciated. Next, we had the Kani salad, which was tasty but could've used a bit more crab. Now, the sushi -- WOW. Absolutely the star of the night! Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully made. Always ordered their sushi but this time i felt like Ramen! I gotta say i love LOVE how they packed the Ramen for delivery! It's like a cute little Ramen kit! They stack everything in the bowl and the stalk comes in a different container. I love this method, cuz it doesn't over cook the noodles and break down the solids in transit. The only biggie? The noodles will need rime to swim in the fluids before u eat. They were fresh but stiffed. No biggie if u ask me, all their meals come with a salad n i ordered unagi on the side. Amazinggggg local sushi spot in Valrico! Sushi Ushi has the absolute freshest fish and most creative rolls around. Plus, the waiters are always so personable. To start, we tried the Tuna Carpaccio (I forget the price but it was a special) which was sooooo good! It was basically krab and seaweed salad wrapped in tuna and avocado. The Kani Salad ($7) is also really good, but has a lot of cucumber. The Xmas Roll (another special) is also amazing - no rice or seaweed, just fish! It's so soft and buttery. The Summer Roll ($15) is so bright with the lemon and unique with the peanuts - yummm! The Sunshine Roll ($13) is really yummy too. We also had the Volcano Roll ($14) which was a little different than usual with the white fish and salmon along with the krab on top. I don't really ever find myself in Valrico, but I've always Sushi Ushi's high ratings for a long time. Unfortunately, they are not yet open for dine-in as of June 5th, so I made the trek all the way here to pick up my food and return all the way home to Carrollwood. I really wanted to order some sushi and some teriyaki, but instead of forcing myself to make that tough decision, I just opted to go ahead and get both. Am I still in a food coma several hours later as I write this? Yes. Was it worth it? Yes. I recently had sushi from another place I'd wanted to visit for a long time and was a tad let down by it. This was a definite improvement, but still not quite as amazing as some of my favorite places. The teriyaki steak, though meant as its own meal and not a sushi side dish, was also solid. I wouldn't necessarily need to order it again, but it hit the spot. Next time I'm in the area, I definitely wouldn't mind dining in and ordering a bunch of sushi to share in a group.
