I first came across this place on Yelps 100 best ramen in the US. Finally got a chance to visit and didn't even try the ramen. Lol. Instead I had a sushi roll and shared an order of fried rice and chicken katsu. Everything was great. The chicken was crispy, but not dry on the inside. Fried rice has a nice flavor and wasn't overwhelmed with vegetables and other ingredients. My roll was great too. I can't recall which one it was but it had shrimp tempura eel sauce and spicy mayo. The shrimp was crisp, the sauces complemented well and I really enjoyed them. The restaurant itself is not huge as you can see from the attached pic, but the booths are still comfortable and spacious. read more

Very delicious sushi! Had an awesome dinner with my friend Cheyenne a couple weeks back here and she explained to me that this is her favorite spot to get sushi. We dined in and from first glance they have a good amount of seating inside and the lighting is a little dark but not too bad. I decided to order a specialty roll which I can't remember the name of and some crab rangoon. It didn't take long for our food to come out and it was so fresh. The crab rangoon was perfectly crispy and a good amount of filling inside. The specialty roll was very nice it was a kani wrapped in tuna it was very light with good flavor. Definitely will be back. read more

Sushi was amazing. Fresh, flavorful and I'm drooling just thinking about it. The waiter did unfortunately miss our sons noodle order and by the time we checked on it, the order was moved to the bottom of the line of an already busy restaurant so waiting another 25 min for noodles after we were already finished wasn't great but we ended up just getting them to go (felt bad that people were waiting for tables and rather than rushing ours due to mistake , we held up a table that long but the food was good so will def check out again. read more

We recently tried Sushi Ushi and were pleasantly surprised! It's a small restaurant, but we were seated within 15 minutes, which was great. The waitress was very attentive and friendly throughout our visit -- excellent service overall. We started with the calamari appetizer, which unfortunately was a miss. It was just rings and didn't taste very good, so we sent it back. To their credit, they didn't charge us for it, which we really appreciated. Next, we had the Kani salad, which was tasty but could've used a bit more crab. Now, the sushi -- WOW. Absolutely the star of the night! Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully made. Every bite was delicious. We'll definitely be back -- maybe skipping the appetizers, but 100% returning for that amazing sushi. So happy we found this place! read more

Our sushi go-to on Ubereats! It might be in the middle of Brandon but don't sleep on it! - Sunshine Roll: this is my absolute favorite roll!! It's so light and crispy with the perfect crunch! - Amazing tuna roll w/ avocado: very solid roll. Nothing to complain about especially for the price - Summer Roll: it's a big bite filled with so much flavor! Definitely try this one! - Purple Potato Fries: a very nice tempura batter- Try to eat these fresh or they get slightly soggy - Tempura Jalapeños: my boyfriend liked these more than regular jalapeno poppers! (I don't like jalapeno so I didn't try them) - Gyudon: the onion flavor pairs so well with the beef!! A very solid rice bowl and great leftovers! - Tonkotsu Ramen: my boyfriend really liked this and he's picky on his ramen read more

Always ordered their sushi but this time i felt like Ramen! I gotta say i love LOVE how they packed the Ramen for delivery! It's like a cute little Ramen kit! They stack everything in the bowl and the stalk comes in a different container. I love this method, cuz it doesn't over cook the noodles and break down the solids in transit. The only biggie? The noodles will need rime to swim in the fluids before u eat. They were fresh but stiffed. No biggie if u ask me, all their meals come with a salad n i ordered unagi on the side. A little wait is better than shoving it all at once. Best part? U get extra soup fluid left! I combined both orders n it made up half of the container! That means i can make myself another bowl! Yay!!! read more

Awesome lunch! We came in for lunch and had a great meal! They have several lunch specials on the back of the menu. Do not miss this! 3 sushi rolls plus soup or salad for 14. Cannot beat that deal. Inside is small but enough room for 8-10 groups. Servers were always smiling. Brought food out quickly and refilled drinks when needed. I got spicy tuna, spicy salmon and yellowtail scallion rolls. All were very good and fresh. I really liked the yellowtail. The other 2 spicy rolls were very good as well. Presentation was nice. After salad and 3 rolls was very full but very happy. Amazing service. Waiter is bubbly, fast, and always checking in. Food is really good, fresh, and authentic as it can get in the US at least. You can tell by the rice portions and how it's made not some bs from publix. Inside is small. Maybe 7-8 tables max. Highly highly recommend. Go during lunch for their special. Sushi Ushi - Sunshine roll top. Spicy tuna, eel roll, shrimp tempura bottom - Sushi Bars Near Me - Valrico, Florida

Amazinggggg local sushi spot in Valrico! Sushi Ushi has the absolute freshest fish and most creative rolls around. Plus, the waiters are always so personable. To start, we tried the Tuna Carpaccio (I forget the price but it was a special) which was sooooo good! It was basically krab and seaweed salad wrapped in tuna and avocado. The Kani Salad ($7) is also really good, but has a lot of cucumber. The Xmas Roll (another special) is also amazing - no rice or seaweed, just fish! It's so soft and buttery. The Summer Roll ($15) is so bright with the lemon and unique with the peanuts - yummm! The Sunshine Roll ($13) is really yummy too. We also had the Volcano Roll ($14) which was a little different than usual with the white fish and salmon along with the krab on top. The Paradise Roll ($16) was really good with the seared tuna on top. The Spicy Salmon Roll ($7) has a perfect amount of spice for a simple roll. Overall, the fish here is so buttery and fresh, and their creativity is top tier. If you are in the area, you should absolutely check it out! read more

I have been to Sushi Ushi a number of times pre - pandemic. I would have previously said it was one of the best sushi places Ive been to in the area. I went last night and I have changed my opinion. The sushi was okay. Fresh. But not as incredible as I remember it. Staff is friendly and service is good. It's a typical hole in the wall spot with limited seating. Also, limited beer and saki selections, no liquor. read more

This is a no frills sushi spot in a small strip mall in Valrico. The staff is very friendly and there is great service. I started with spring rolls. The "out of control" roll was the favorite of the night. The tempura bagel roll was the other try tonight. It's a good, casual spot. read more

Pros: Flexibility of customization of rolls I really like the option of not having rice in hand-rolls and they have some specialty rolls without rice like the Christmas roll for $15 (although they do need to add something like cucumber or jalapeño to give it a little bit of crunch.. its little bit boring and smushy in taste so not quite appealing) The scallops ceviche was quite good, 6 pieces for $16. The spicy edamame $6 was not spicy, however really good flavor, they do need to cook it less because it was falling apart when you try to get the bean out, the skin was coming with it so not so pleasant. Cons: No teriyaki dishes on the menu currently due to staffing issues Overall - good sushi and fresh read more

5/5 highly recommend this place to any sushi lover! Everything about this place was amazing. Food- 5/5 I ordered the love boat and a few appetizers with 2 other people and we were stuffed. The love boat was amazing! The fish was high quality and delicious. I liked how they had a variety of sushi, sashimi and rolls. The sashimi was fatty and thickly sliced. The sushi had perfect proportions of rice to fish. Service- 5/5 Our waiter was so personable and great at giving us recommendations. He explained the menu to us and took time to check in on us multiple times to make sure we liked our food and drinks. Ambiance- 5/5 Although the restaurant isn't large, it's cozy and well decorated. I will say it's not located in the fanciest plaza, but the interior is well suited for the restaurant! Overall, I highly recommend this sushi spot to anyone! I'm already looking forward to coming back and ordering the love boat again! read more

Order wrong off rip. Not a good start. Double charged is for an expensive item but given salad?

Why 4 stars? Because this is a great sushi option in the Brandon area. --- --- --- Checking off another long-time bucket list restaurant that's not super close to my house. I don't really ever find myself in Valrico, but I've always Sushi Ushi's high ratings for a long time. Unfortunately, they are not yet open for dine-in as of June 5th, so I made the trek all the way here to pick up my food and return all the way home to Carrollwood. I really wanted to order some sushi and some teriyaki, but instead of forcing myself to make that tough decision, I just opted to go ahead and get both. Am I still in a food coma several hours later as I write this? Yes. Was it worth it? Yes. I recently had sushi from another place I'd wanted to visit for a long time and was a tad let down by it. This was a definite improvement, but still not quite as amazing as some of my favorite places. The teriyaki steak, though meant as its own meal and not a sushi side dish, was also solid. I wouldn't necessarily need to order it again, but it hit the spot. Next time I'm in the area, I definitely wouldn't mind dining in and ordering a bunch of sushi to share in a group. That's really the best way. read more

The service is always friendly. I appreciate that they have apple juice for kids. What I appreciate more than that is the Crab Rangoon. The CRAB RANGOONS are the best crab rangoons I have ever had. It's time to update my review. I previously gave them 4 stars but after yesterday's visit it is now 5 stars. I've always loved their sushi creations but I'd never tried their ramen. The tonkotsu ramen was truly wonderful. So much so that I can't decide which restaurant makes it better because I like all the ones I've had nearby. They all have their unique qualities. But this one had thick slices of pork belly that couldn't go without an honorable mention. They also had the seasoned egg which I love. The broth to noodle ratio was very good, and that broth was so tasty. I just feel so fortunate to have so many options close by now. So, I was told that the ramen used to only be on a daily specials menu. Now they offer it all day long. At lunch, it comes with their house salad and ginger dressing. The ginger dressing has always been great. I also couldn't leave without trying the Ceviche Roll which I don't remember seeing on the menu back in 2017. It was exactly how I envisioned it to be. All fish and no rice. It had the freshest tuna, salmon, and yellowtail ever. I mean it was so soft that it almost melted in my mouth. Like buttah (butter)! The avocado was just as fresh and beautiful. Not a single brown blemish. All of it wrapped in rice paper and served with a wasabi yuzu sauce which was very light. It was perfect! I'd get this one again. I also like the Out of Control Roll, Sashimi Roll, and Dragon Roll. All are great choices, but do look at their daily sushi specials as you walk in. They have chef special creations daily such as an omakase apetizer, striped bass, uni, torched salmon belly, and the list goes on. Just check out the daily posts on their Facebook page. I'm craving sushi right now just thinking about that Ceviche Roll. Besides sushi, they have all kinds of noodle bowls too. I see 4 different soba preparations, chicken or shrimp udon, and tonkotsu or spicy miso ramen. I've had ramen and udon but not soba yet. So I'll have to go back and try that (Thanks a lot, Craig K). Also the service is fantastic, and the Thai tea is awesome. They already have a local following. What more can I say? Just try it. read more
