Passion Fruit Tea
Karen V.

I had lackluster experiences the last couple of times that I visited. Something has definitely changed. My most recent experience was a sad one. I decided to drop in for lunch after shopping at Bealls. I immediately noticed that the booth seating across from the sushi bar had torn and tattered cushions. This is the beautiful bright green cushioned seating that I remember loving after the renovation. It was in desperate need of repair. What made it worse was that I was sat in one of these booths. I picked the side that was least torn. Yes, I could have asked to be seated elsewhere. I just didn't know if all the booth seating was the same way, so I went with it. The service was good. The passion fruit tea and the clear chicken broth soup were all good. It was the sushi rolls that left a lot to be desired. It wasn't the same quality that I remember. The rolls were small and falling apart. I'm sorry to say that nothing about this experience was happy. I just hope that the BYO poké bowls haven't changed. I'll order one the next time I'm in that plaza.

My Poké bowl

My Poké bowl was really tasty. I got the large and it came out really really tiny. So that was a little disappointing not worth 20 bucks. The koko was a $17 specialty role very tiny covered in some crunch not a lot of flavor not worth it. The crab Rangoon appetizer was solid. I do recommend that. Waiter was nice and fast. The place was really well decorated. Had a nice theme.

Nestled in Bloomingdale Plaza for almost a decade, Sushi Ninja Brandon stands as a beloved gem, defying the odds in a world where restaurants come and go. What do I love about Sushi Ninja Brandon? - It's the sister location of the popular Sushi Ninja Tampa, bringing a sense of community. - Their incredible Korean specialties never fail to impress my in-laws - Unlike many places that have succumbed to the trap of online ordering and delivery, Sushi Ninja keeps it traditional. You call in your order, stroll in to pick it up, and enjoy the charm of old-fashioned service. What don't I love? - It does feel a bit odd in this digital age not to offer online ordering, but maybe that's part of the unique charm!

chicken wings

Had dinner at Sushi Ninja Brandon. I'm not a sushi person, so I went there for the other food they sell. I ordered some chicken fried rice and also 6-piece chicken wings (original). My wife had the Chicken Bulgogi. Now, she liked her order, I on the other hand was not impressed with mine. Now, I know I ordered the original chicken wings, but they only use adobo to season it, and its only on the skin, so after the first bite, the rest of the chicken really has no flavor. The chicken fried rice was not something I would go back for either. The place was very clean, plenty of parking since its located in a shopping strip. The other folks with us, had the sushi, and they seemed to have enjoyed it. I'm giving it a 4 start, because I was not impressed, but the other folks did not complaint and my wife was ok with her food.

Went here tonight for a birthday party. We started out with a sashimi appetizer and a vegetable tempura. Both were delicious and I would order them again. We then ordered two rolls which were fresh but a little small and were a little blan on taste. Overall the service was great from our server but at the end they brought us the bills with a automatic 18% gratuity added with the minimum option of adding an additional 20% if we wanted to. I consider myself a great tipper when the service warrants it which normally means I tip over 20%. But when a tip is forced upon me and no longer based on service rendered I simply stop at their lower amount. For this I removed a star . Have faith in your product and services rendered or I will choose to go elsewhere.

Hamachi Carpaccio

Before entering, they do ask to take your temperature. They are still continuing to give customers distance, which is amazing. Specially the booths, definitely felt like we had privacy. Leaving us with great ambiance. The Hamachi Carpaccio as an app, is delightful and refreshing. Served with radish and yellowtail, yum. Our main sushi plate, consisted of the basics - rainbow roll and Cali. The Crazy Ninja Roll, a slight hint of that spicy kick, I loved it. The fried shrimp, Alaskan snow crab, spicy tuna within the Crazy Ninja Roll, all worked well together. Husband also had chicken fried rice, per usual!

Spicy sashimi bowl - "Hwe dup bap" - DELICIOUS, not the best presentation but has to transfer to a bigger bowl
Brandie M.

So happy to have a Korean/sushi spot right in my neighborhood! I have been on the prowl for some "hwe dup bap" ever since moving from one of the biggest Korea towns on the east coast. It's not advertised as hwe dup bap but when I saw the "spicy sashimi bowl" description, I knew it was meant to be. Only complaint is wish they would use a little more greens variety with the dish, and wish it came with some banchan (side dishes) for paying the price of 19.99. BUT what it lacked in greens it made up for in delicious fresh salmon, tuna and and whitefish. Will definitely order again!

Star was very friendly, but forgetful. Had to wait for 20 minutes for a boba tea that was incredibly sour and was not drinkable. No soy sauce and had to scavenge for some on my own. Food was very mid-range. The menu is very clearly non-threatening sushi: almost everything was fried, had "krab", or had asparagus. There were only a handful of non-fried, non-"krab" rolls out of around 40 to choose from. $11-$14 per roll. Great place to go for people who want to say that they've had sushi.

This is a nice spot. They have a pretty decent lunch deal. My coworkers and I will often visit on our lunch break.

My wife and I split the Sirloin and Chicken Teriyaki hibachi, which was delicious. You could tell the chef had been doing this a while. Shout out to Scooter, who was funny, entertaining, and attentive, making sure we had enough sauce and that our protein was cooked properly. Our server, on the other hand, was nice but not as attentive, we had to flag him down a couple of times for water refills and more drinks. Fun fact I picked up while there, they run Happy Hour Monday through Friday until close. The ambiance leans heavily Japanese, and I liked how committed they were to that theme throughout. Overall, a good experience.

I always love getting the Tuna as my protein option cause not very many places have this option Teppanyaki style. My gripe comes with the service and not so much the chef or wait staff but the time it takes to sit down. It doesn't matter if I have a reservation or if I come in as a walk-in, anytime I want to sit at Teppanyaki tables, my wait is anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour. It doesn't matter if the restaurant is busy or if the restaurant is dead, all of my experiences have been the same with that same wait time. This seems to be a common issue with this Kobe's and I think it's a huge issue that they need to resolve. I'm very hesitant about even giving three stars because of that cause this makes it such a hard restaurant to frequent or recommend. If they are able to fix that one issue then I know I would come here much more often. With that being said, if you choose to eat at the dining room, you won't have any wait issues, but people come to Kobe's for the show so you'll be missing out on part of that experience.
