    Bento Box Salmon
    Julie R.

I've been to other Sushi King locations in the past. This is my first time to this one. Came for lunch on a weekday. I had the salmon bento box. My salmon was cooked well and I liked the selection of tempura that comes with the bento box. I especially loved the mushroom tempura. Most other sushi places do not include a mushroom in their tempura. A bunch of other sushi was ordered which came out looking pretty spectacular. Certainly picture worthy. Check out all the pics I posted with this review. LOL. I can't speak for the taste but visually hit the spot. There's not too many options for sushi on the westside, but this Sushi King will hit the spot!

Excellent food and service. For years I have returned and every time had the same level of Food & Service

Spicy sesame udon (with fried tofu)

The food here was ok. I had a vegetable tempura and a pan fried spicy sesame udon with fried tofu. They both tasted ok. The vegetable tempura came in small pieces...a little sad I supposed. The noodles...I just wished the food could have been a little better. It was quite blind tasting and slightly off-putting with just spicy-led taste..but not as much other flavors. If I go back, I would probably be ok getting tempura again (a little expensive I think for small pieces)...and will definitely pass on the spicy sesame noodles (pro tip: try something else!). Overall, ok. Not the best experinces for Asian food..but perhaps like its name suggested, I should have opted for Sushi instead of what I got.

Though this place was not in our area, I'm so glad we found it! My daughter and I cherish our girls nights, and this will likely be our go-to spot. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted. Then, our order was taken almost right away, and since we hadn't been here before, our server was great at providing recommendations! We started out with three rolls, then ordered two more. All of them were excellent and fresh. Our total bill came out to $100, which was on the high end for me, but we will definitely consider coming back here!

Wanting more gratuity on top of the automatically added gratuity?

I used to really like this place. This was always the go-to for sushi cravings because it is not far from my home and I felt that you could get a pretty decent amount of sushi for the cost. The service was usually good and the place was usually fairly quiet and nice to have a quiet dinner. Today, I was completely turned off by their dishonesty. The service and food were good, but where they significantly shorted us was on two of our plates. We're had ordered 2 combo Cs which are supposed to come with 8 pieces California roll and 3 pieces each of the NM Roll and Crispy Roll: a total of 14 pieces. When the food arrived I had to do a double take because the plates looked sort of not right. I noticed there were only 6 pieces California roll on each. Everyone was starving so before I could check the menu to let the waitress know we had been shorted the kids started eating. So I did not really have good proof to show we had been shorted. I was already kind of not happy about this, but figured that maybe it was a honest mistake. The kids were eating these plates anyway and would probably not end out finishing it. So I let this slide because of all our previous good experiences here. So then the check comes. As I had mentioned, we eat here often and often get the same things, so I have a good knowledge of what the total comes out to before tip. I take a look at the itemized receipt and noticed the waitress, who we were happy with and I had planned on tipping well, had went in and added the group gratuity to our check. I go back to the menu again and cannot find any note saying they automatically add gratuity for parties of a certain size. From my experience, when restaurants do this it is usually for parties of 6 or more and other times 8 or more. We are a party of three adults and two young children. We go here all the time and have never had this tacked on. Not cool. I calculated it out and it was 18% added gratuity. At this point I felt really disappointed in them. By the waitress adding this on, she actually screwed herself because I usually tip more than 18% when the service is good. She had been excellent to this point and I was planning on leaving her a 25% tip. I told myself "screw it" and just paid it. The payment receipt shows up and it still has a gratuity section asking for additional tip. Haha, nice try. I gladly wrote in "tip already included" and totaled it out to total of the itemized receipt. With this experience and having similar things happen to me at other restaurants over the years, I decided to snap a picture of the payment receipt I signed at which point I noticed another waiter watching me do this. I did this for proof in case they try anything funny when they finalize the receipt in the system. When we left, I think the waiter who watched me take a picture of the receipt had told our waitress about this. No one thanked us on our way out which they usually do. It is too bad that this had to happen, as I really enjoyed eating here. Sad to say but this dishonest experience is the reason I will not be returning. Now to carefully watch my bank account for when this clears.

This was our first time visiting this location. We usually visit the location in Rio Rancho. This one is much bigger. Just know that there is a private parking lot for this mini mall where this restaurant is located. And that it can take a while to get out of the lot because you are driving into the Coors road. Got into the restaurant and was greeted by friendly staff members. We were able to sit where we wanted so we decided to sit at a booth. We were served drinks right away. Which is always a good thing. The server gave us a few minutes to look over the menu. We decided on vegetable tempura and gyoza as our appetizers, then ordered a crispy roll and a crunch roll. Gyoza is always delicious as an appetizer. The vegetable tempura was a little on the heavy side for us. It wasn't lightly battered, more cake-like texture than fried. So that wasn't our favorite. As for the sushi rolls, they were enjoyable to the palate. We may not be back for a second visit due to it being in a high traffic area. But I commend the servers and sushi chefs. They did a great job. Thank you.

Another place we've passed for years and never really paid attention to. In the mood for sushi so here we are. Open, lots of open seating - lunch rush was over. We started with the veggie egg rolls. Then got the Hawaiian, Sandia & Albacore rolls. The egg roll was tasty, nicely fried and not greasy. The sushi was meh and over priced. For what we ordered the bill including soft drinks was $65. There's definitely better value for higher quality in ABQ! Unfortunately this place is forgettable.

They are doing classic bait and switch here. Went onto their website ordered a crazy roll listed at $10.95 and a miso soup. Go to pick up my order lady at counter tells me its $20.84. I said can you please explain why there is such a big discrepancy in pricing on your website. She could not. Long story short will never be back. Dishonest tactics

The staff is always pretty friendly and accommodating. I shared an app, a roll and an order of salmon sashimi with a friend on both visits. The food is always fresh, and delicious! I never feel like I am being overcharged for what I get either. Going to eat for sushi can feel like that sometimes. The quality of the food is great and everything is always aesthetically pleasing as well. I had their avocado bomb on my last visit and I was delightfully surprised with it. I like avocado in most cases, but sometimes, it can be a lot at one. I thought this was going to be like that when I saw it, but I was wrong. I look forward to getting one of these on my next visit! On my last visit my friend and I saved room for a dessert, one that we saw rotating on their screens that they have in the restaurant showcasing some of the menu items. It was a take on a bananas foster. It looked delicious but alas, we'll see if we can manage to get it next time. Note to self, have dessert first on next visit?

The final price (paying with cash) was $102.32 before the tip, which seems very fair given the size of the portions and the quality. The fish was not the very highest quality, but it was very good. The wasabi was some of (if not) the best that I've ever had. The soy and eel sauces were made in-house, and were excellent. Presumably, the rest of the sauces were house-made as well. Leo was a very good and friendly server. The atmosphere was very relaxed but could be suitable for something fancier. The nigir were okay, but I prefer my nigiri to not have a lot sauce and all three I ordered were heavily covcered in their cloying (oyster based?) sauce. The Monkey Balls were meh, I've had way better here. The Seaweed Salad was excellent which I think was true last time. That's why Sakura Sushi & Grill stood out right away. They clearly label gluten-free options on the menu. They also offer gluten-free soy sauce, which is a huge win. Even better, they have lunch specials with gluten-free options, which is rare. It's located in Riverside Plaza in Albuquerque, just past the river on the west side. I ordered the Sushi Lunch A with premium fish and chose the double salmon roll. Everything was incredibly fresh and delicious, and the portions were great for the price. The miso soup that comes with lunch isn't gluten-free, but they brought me a side salad with an amazing gluten-free dressing instead. I felt confident eating here, which is not something I say often. I didn't have any reaction afterward and would absolutely eat here again. One of the coolest surprises: they make their own wasabi in-house. It's not on the menu, but if you ask, they'll bring it out, and it is absolutely worth it. We considered getting a sushi boat, but the lunch specials were a better value for lunch. If we went for dinner, we would absolutely order a boat. I also had hot sake, which paired perfectly with the meal. At the end, they even brought us a sweet cinnamon tea for my friend's birthday, even though we didn't order dessert. Service was warm and attentive the entire time. My friend has a shellfish allergy, and the server made sure her plate only included fin fish, which we really appreciated. We went around 1:30 p.m. on a Tuesday, and it was quiet with only a few other tables. The atmosphere felt calm and relaxed, with a casual, comfortable vibe that made it easy to sit and actually enjoy a conversation without feeling rushed. They close at 3 and reopen for dinner, so it's a great low-key lunch spot if you time it right. My friend also mentioned she brings her young kids here often, and the woman manager or owner is especially kind and welcoming to them. I enjoyed this place so much that I called my husband on the way home to tell him all about it. We're already planning to go back with our kids, which will make this my second visit in one week. If you're gluten-free, this place is a gem. And even if you're not, the quality, service, and overall experience make it absolutely worth a visit.

It has like a sparkly flavor it taste like raspberry it was so good definitely need a refill on that or just order 2 for yourself ! The price for sushi is all the same some come in 2 piece or in 4 piece 3.50$ each plate . Also ordered ramen and that was good, noodles where a bit to thick for me I got full super quick. I have a several go-to places for sushi. Especially in different parts of town. I was really hoping…read morethis might be a new spot in rotation, especially when I heard there was a conveyor belt set up here! My boyfriend and I came for dinner and the place wasn't very busy, but it they place was ransacked. Almost every booth and seating needed to be bussed. We managed to find a couple seats up at the conveyor belt. We selected most of our sushi from the belt, but also ordered a few things from the menu. The system is set up pretty easy to understand, I think it was by the amount of pieces on the plate. Overall the sushi options on the conveyor belt were okay, a lot of them had a similar flavor profile. I also ordered a salmon nigiri, but was gravely disappointed. The salmon didn't look that great. I went ahead and had a piece and immediately regretted it. The salmon was stringy and it didn't want break apart. I didn't have another bite or the second piece. The pistachio ice cream was a saving grace and a fortunate way to end our meal.
