I've had Sushi Jun twice for takeout and I had no complaints. First visit: the nigiri pieces were fairly thick with rice but the platter itself was just enough for 3 people. The fish was a good quality for my first time trying Sushi Jun. Second visit: we split two platters between 6 people with a lot of variety. The sashimis were thick cuts and the nigiri was mostly fish, less rice. The spicy salmon roll was so good. A go-to spot in Aurora. Will definitely be back for more! read more

We ordered sushi Jun through Uber eats yesterday. It was our first time and it won't be the last. I found the quality to be on par with many of my other favourite Japanese restos in Aurora/Newmarket and best of all, it is cheaper. I guess it comes with lower overhead cost since they only have a small store catering to mainly takeouts. We got their sashimi and sushi combo, black dragon roll and spider roll. The sashimi was quite fresh, there were a lot of ingredients in the rolls as oppose to mostly rice but we did find the rice to be a tad bit on the harder side. read more

Great sushi, ordered the spider roll and the futomaki roll (4 pcs). Ended up with a bonus futomaki piece which was a pleasant surprise! The tempura squid in the spider roll was delicious, its chewy texture complimented the crunchy vegetables and the fattiness of the tempura was cut with the freshness of the vegetables. Though I noticed some of the rolls had sweet potato tempura instead of squid. Aside from that, the proportion of rice compared to filling was to my liking. Also, the soy sauce was great - being made in-house definitely gives it a lighter, less intense salt flavour. Service was great and made the experience all the more pleasant. The server was attentive, friendly, and generous as I received an extra tray of ginger and multiple cups of warm water for my tea. In the event that I ever come back to Newmarket I will definitely be back for more sushi in this cute, quaint little restaurant. read more

This is one of the great sushi places in Newmarket. Located on Main Street, it's close to the trails if you want to grab lunch and sit by Fairy Lake. They are mostly a take-out restaurant but have 8 seats to dine in. There is no bathroom (which the waiter will tell you if you decide to dine in). They have a wide range of combos, rolls and meals from bento boxes, to ramen, to sushi sets. I opted for the spicy tuna/spicy salmon set for $9.50 + tax - which came with a soup and salad. It was delicious. The rolls are a good size and there is a good fish to rice ratio. The salad was a basic garden salad with a tangy dressing and the soup was a miso soup. The fish tasted fresh and it was the perfect balance of rice to fish to spicy sauce ratio. I would def. come back! read more

Definitely worse than all you can eat. I'm shocked that this place has such high ratings. Ordered a few rolls and they tasted so very unappetizing that I couldn't bare myself to finish the food. The tempura had a weird dipping sauce that definitely didn't taste right. I paid about 30-40$ for barely any food and went home to make myself an instant noodle instead. I was given the assumption that Sushi Jun was one of the best sushi places in town, however tonight I got some sushi rolls to go and was sadly disappointed. I ordered 2 California Rolls and 1 Spicy California Roll and I barely got any meat. It was all vegetables! If I wanted more veggies, I'd order a vegetarian roll! I was completely taken back when I opened up my order. See for yourself in the photos.. I've been to a few places (even Mac's sushi) has better and more meat then Sushi Jun. FYI Yelpers.. this is not a full service restaurant, but rather a takeout spot with two tiny tables and a sign that states they are not permitted to be a restaurant. It was a little too intimate on the cusp of being sketchy. We drove 40 minutes into town for this and ended up leaving for another spot down the street, opting not to chance it. read more

A solid 2.5 stars, and as it says... "Meh. I've experienced better". Sadly, I am not feeling the same as my fellow yelpers. Tonight was my first visit where I got the wonton soup, spicy California roll and green dragon roll. To start - the wonton soup was one of the worst I had. I live for wonton soup so I've tried many, but for $4 I got two soggy dumplings, a whole lot of cabbage and weird mushy stuff in the broth. I don't eat cereal with milk because I hate mushy things so I was instantly a bit grossed out. The spicy California roll was better. It was sort of spicy, as it should be, there was a good ratio of crab and avocado, but could have had more cucumber. Also, the seaweed was on the outside which was odd. I could taste the seaweed more than if it was inside with the rice outside (like 95% of the other restaurants). Not sure about the flavouring, but it was chewier. Also I ran out of soy sauce after the 6 pieces of sushi... definitely not enough given. Finally the dragon roll. The avocado was good, and it wasn't too large like some restaurants. The tempura was yummy, so props for that. But after I got my own soy sauce, I ran out of wasabi after 4 pieces... so they really cheap out with their condiments. Overall, I don't think I'll be rushing back. It's nice this place is open on Sunday's though, as most places are closed in Newmarket on this day. read more

So happy that I found this place! It's hard to find good sushi in this part of town. I ordered take out and here's what I ordered. 1)The bulgogi beef bento box... really good flavours, my only criticism would be the quantity and the little apple cubes that were the "fruit". Taste was delicious and presentation was good too. 2) the spicy salmon and spicy tuna roll special.. the fish to rice ratio was really good (very promising as most places stuff it full of rice). 3) beef udon.. loved that they separated so I can add it together at home.. beef was a good portion and the broth was very flavourful. 4) small sashimi platter... fish tasted fresh and wasn't cut too thick! 5) crispy avocado roll...again really good filling to rice ratio. Lastly, the yam and shrimp tempura... delicious and very impressed with the large slices of yam! I'll definitely be going back! If I could give a zero rating, I would. My husband and I ordered sushi from these guys, specifically asking for no 'crunch' as I'm a celiac and can't have wheat. They still managed to mash up tempura into the roll, which now has me in agony. Buyer definitely beware, minimal ingredients listed on their website or menu. read more

We ordered for delivery the Pork Cutlet Bento boxes with spring rolls and a gyoza soup. The food in the Bento box is very tasty. The spring rolls are ok, maybe a bit soft inside. The soup was very good, but about 1/2 the size you would normally get. read more

Sushi Jun is DELICIOUS! Always friendly service (both owners remember me even if I haven't been there in a long time), and ALWAYS fresh! They don't have "all you can eat" but the prices are extremely reasonable and there are a couple cafe tables to sit in if you want. I usually call and my order will be ready for pickup within 10 minutes, but they also deliver to Newmarket and sometimes Aurora if your order is over a certain amount (I'm not 100% sure, $30 maybe?). I would highly recommend trying the place out! I still drive the 15mins to get it even though there are lots around me, I'm spoiled now! read more

Hands down the best sushi in at least Newmarket. The food is always, always fresh and delicious. We have to have their Orangeville roll every time we order. The restaurant itself is tiny so snag the table by the window and use the window ledge for more "table" space. The owners are wonderfully friendly. I lived in Newmarket for two and a half years and Sushi Jun became my go-to place for Friday evening takeout sushi. The food is great, the prices are very reasonable, the staff are super friendly. There is some seating for dining in and it's right on the charming part of Main St. near the water feature/skating rink, the farmer's market, and the former town hall. Although it is a very very small little Japanese restaurant but it is by far the best sushi I've taste from there! This place mainly target on rolls and their rolls are soooo good.
