**INITIAL REVIEW** Prior to partaking in a meal at Sushi Factory, it must be stressed that I love the all-you-can-eat, order-by-plate experience that I've seen in a many videos of sushi diners in Japan. Ergo, I've been wanting to partake in one when one would eventually open up near where I live. I've had such an experience at a "mom n' pop" of this kind of restaurant in Palm Bay in a new place called Sunshine Sushi, but I am told that Sushi Factory is the "OG" pertaining to such a concept used here in the United States. So did Sushi Factory live up to the hype of the concept? Sadly to say, I was heavily disappointed across the board. Even though an address is provided, the Sushi Factory I went to was located just west of the Eastern Florida State College Melbourne Campus, in a set of strip malls in which the businesses don't do so well. The exception, however, is Sushi Factory... which surprises me gien the initial experience I recieved. I went with my friends, Chops and Nate, as the latter wanted to eat a lot of food. We too our seats at a booth that was typical of fast food restaurants. It took awhile for our waitress, Natalie, to come by and order our drinks. Would be understandable if the place was packed full and she was the only one working, but including my party, there were only seven people total at the time. There are makeshift instructions on how to order food given the fact they have one of those serving robots that come around like R2-D2 from the Star Wars series, holding trays of the food you ordered. We do get a waitress though, so we aren't just left high and dry to figure out what to do. Natalie was nice enough, but she seemed distracted which will be brought up multiple times throughout the review. We made our slip orders for food which included an array of basic and premier sushi, onigiri (single-serving bites that include a slice of raw fish and rice), teriyaki BBQ, appetizers, soup and salads, and drinks. It took while for Natalie to get our slip order and even longer than usual for our initial order of food. Once again, would understand if she was the only one and it was packed, but there were only seven of us patrons total and at least two sushi chefs up in front. To top off the disappointment, most of the food was mediocre. Passable and edible, but given its price, I was not too happy. Ultimately, this was not a good initial visit to The Sushi Factory. And as the coup de grace, Natalie mixed up our orders in which many of us charged by credit card. I ended up paying for my friend Nate's check while he paid mine. In short, I paid for more. This Sushi Factory was overall a sad experience. I will give them one more chance to get their butts in shape, but if they fail that time, too, depending on how they are, they might get an unwanted deduction on their upcoming review. Stopped by for dinner with my wife. We've been here before and really like "order what you want" style menu. They have other menu items, but we typically go with the "order what you want " menu. I would recommend this if you're getting into sushi, sashimi, etc. I think there's definitely something fun about being able to try a bunch of different items--it's a great setup if you like sampling sushi and appetizers without worrying about à la carte prices piling up. What made this place stand out? The salmon and tuna sashimi were excellent--super fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. My wife really enjoyed exploring the variety, and the pacing of the orders was decent. The robot that delivers your food is a cool concept as well. Now the downside: we tried the hibachi dishes, and unfortunately, they fell flat. The flavors were bland and lacked the seasoning you'd expect from hibachi-style cooking. Nothing offensive, just kind of... meh. If you're looking for hibachi, I would not recommend this place. But the real issue for us came at the end: we were automatically charged an 18% service fee, which we didn't mind at first--until we found out that none of that goes to the servers. I was told that the servers didn't get any of that. That's not cool! If you're going to add a mandatory "service charge or tip" it should support the staff who actually serve the food. That policy alone will make me think twice about coming back. It wasn't clear to me what the service charge was for. It just seemed sketchy. Ambience was decent and clean tables. We had never been here before, so we wrote on our slips the names of the food and it took about 3 attempts before we were finally told how to place an order "correctly" without the server giving us a side eye. Sure there are things that could be improved but overall we had a good time and the sushi was very decent for an all-you-can-eat concept. They also have a-la-cart. The restaurant was quiet when we walked in but got a lot busier later on. But the booth tables create your own ambiance, separated from others. This place is a solid 3.5 stars! Food is good but they are lacking in the service department. This was our first time here and we had 7pm reservations and arrived on time. Due to it being Valentines Day I expected it to busy but they were not packed. It took a while for anyone to acknowledge us and show us to a table. When we did finally get seated, we were given a menu and our server asked for drink orders. They don't serve alcohol of any kind so I settled on a sweet tea. They offer all you can eat sushi, appetizers, soups and salad. Ordering is a little confusing as you order based on your table and seat number. It's easy to forget what your seat number is because most of the booths can accommodate 6 people but if there are only 3 of you, you have to make sure to remember your seat number. There's a diagram at each table but still it's somewhat confusing. Once your order is ready either your server or their cute robot will bring your items to you. Food is made to order so there may be a wait in between orders. Also I should note that we never were able to catch our server to get drink refills so I would ask for 2 drinks up front just in case. The food here is always delicious. My husband and I go at least once a month. The sashimi is what stands out super thick cut slices unlimited. The only time I ever had a bad experience was when they opened up that karaoke booth. Not ideal to spend $70 on a fancy dinner and have screechy teenagers, singing badly on purpose to get a rise out of their friends. Price for dinner now is $25 each ( it was just myself and my wife) for all you can eat sushi not bad but then there's an 18% service fee and then they also ask for tip..confusing as what is the service fee for? The good: Once you figure out how to order there really is a lot of options even for non-fish eaters. The food looks good and taste even better. The hand rolls taste great and are bigger then I was expecting. Spicy tuna salad was very good. All the rolls we ordered were very good. The bad: Let's talk the service fee, service is their downfall. Every order we received was not complete (wasabi, ginger) need to be ordered with each order if you want it. We had to ask every order for it even though it was marked clearly on the order sheet, on top of that with only 4 tables busy, they seem to lose my wife's order. Never checked on or asked to refill my water or my wife's tea. Over all they just need help on stepping up their game on service. If you go for the taste of the food it's well worth the price but everything else you may expect from a restaurant is lacking and this service fee just stick's with me...If I'm paying for service then I should receive decent service. If the service fee is an extra for the chef then tell me that but once again why would this not be in the initial cost? On the contrary, this is more closely reminiscent of a weird concoction, a strange mashup, an odd blend that leaves us with something resembling the "Golden Corral" of Sushi restaurants. I'd need a xyster, in order to scrape the various bones of contention I harbor for this place. I'm honestly not sure where these negative reviews are coming from. We had a great experience. Food came out at weird intervals but it wasn't a huge deal since this is more of a buffet being served than a traditional sit-down experience. The robot needs its front wiped off but it's adorable. Decided to try Uber Eats for the first time and decided on sushi after it's been a while with this whole COVID-19 situation playing out. After I submitted my order, it took about 40 minutes for it to arrive (which was 20 minutes less than expected!). I ended up getting Miso Soup, Ginger Green Salad, Chicken Noodles, Chicken Rice, Triple Delight Roll, Salmon Avocado Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, and Eel Nigiri. Out of everything that I ordered, I was most satisfied with the sushi rolls, which is good for a sushi restaurant. The Triple Delight and Salmon Avocado had a good ratio between the rice and fish. The Spicy Tuna Roll was a hand roll which had more rice and definitely filled me up. Lastly, the eel nigiri was slightly sweet from the glaze that was a nice contrast to the more savory rolls. All of the rolls were pretty typical as expected and were not bad in my opinion. I would order this combo again. The Chicken Noodles and Chicken Rice was simple and nothing to brag about. It is a decent side dish if you are looking for something more carb-heavy. The miso soup was a lot more than I was expecting so I'd get that again. We are bummed there are items removed from the menu and more restrictions when ordering. You can only order 3 pieces of sushi at a time. There is no sashimi. No more steak and shrimp on the hibachi section. The nigiri is a very thin slice of fish on a huge ball of rice. But if you order edamame you get a portion for 3 people. It's clear they are being stingy and trying to get you to fill up on cheaper items. I understand trying to be competitive, but all of these changes combined makes it not worth the price for us. Came in tonight with a family of 9, they told us when we made the reservation they were a little short staffed but would do their best and they sure did. We were greeted and shown our table right away. They explained ordering & our server was busting his a@@ the whole time, taking care of us and several tables. Sushi was great. Me and my sister came here for lunch, I absolutely love sushi and she told me about this place all you can eat. The price is good for what you can order.. But service is horrible. It takes a long time to have the food delivered to the tables. They do have a robot which was pretty neat delivering food and checks to the tables. The place does get busy for lunch but I would think they would get more help if business is that good. Or they would run the robot more to deliver items when they couldn't. One server didn't understand any questions we had, and the other was so fast walking by grabbing the slip off the table. Some things we put in didn't come out, then when it did it was all at once and then sat forever in between , I didn't look at reviews before going in but now I see this is a ongoing problem that they haven't fixed yet. They must not read reviews to see if the customers are happy or not. People were literally going to find someone so they could pay and leave. Others were sitting frustrated they had to wait so long. Luckily we weren't in a major hurry but it would have been nice to leave a little sooner.They cut into our shopping time we had together. Over all what I did taste wasn't bad. Avoid this place like the plague. Ive come here every now and then since 2018 and the service cant even be described as horrible... it's far worse. If they get your order(s) right it's decent and the sushi was okay but id rather spend the money to order multiple rolls somewhere else that i know will come out quality with good service. The service here was so slow i contemplated just up and leaving.... I waited over 25 minutes for our bill after i told the server we were finished. My date and I had our water filled one time and had to go out of our way to get a refill. Id suggest the location on 192 since they seem to at least have better service but even then all of these locations have fell off to say the least. This was a doordash order. It might be relevent, I dont kow what your experience of delivery is , but I find restaurants take liberties. I called the restaurant first and was told they use a third-party app. The person I spoke to was very nice. ( but that isn't enough for more than the rating I'm giving) I went to ubereats and found them, but their order page did not describe the rolls. So I was SUPER disappointed when all but one of my rolls had fake crabmeat in it when I ordered nothing that contains crabmeat.. Since there was no description of what was in the roll, I ordered things I know I like. And was surprised at what showed up. Avocados in the rolls were rock hard. Do they save that for the delivery orders? The fried rice was cold, and that wasnt the biggest problem with it. It was beady and dry with absolutely ZERO flavor, and somehow, brown.. I would likley not go back to this spot because I feel that when a japanese spost uses fake crabmeat ( at all, nevermind this ubiquitously) it doesnt speak well of the quality . TERRIBLE SERVICE! DON'T EAT HERE! So bad I want to give you a zero, but that's not possible so I give you a one. Probably the WORST experience I've ever had at a restaurant. The waitress, who I think may be the manager, was the least attentive person. She got our original slip, informed me that I filled the table number out wrong and when I tried to correct it ensured me she would handle it and not to worry and then DIDN'T enter my food. I waited for food that didn't come. We got the wrong food delivered to us multiple times, one time the food runner who dropped it off realized his mistake and came back, asked if I had touched it yet. I told him no and tried to explain to him that I think there was a mistake with my food, he ignored my concern, took the food from my table and delivered it to the table behind us saying "let's pretend that didn't happen". The table witnessed the whole thing and complained as well. The waitress had still yet to check on us and my friend got her food and I still had gotten nothing. Finally, I got the attention of a passing food runner to check on it and was told I had to resubmit my order. The waitress only came one time and I asked her for eel sauce and she never brought it. She checked on her other tables multiple times and then was seemingly avoiding us. When we finished our food we waited a while for anyone to notice. Our waitress came and wordlessly took our plate stack and started to walk away quickly, and I had to stop her to ask for our checks. Understand that she wasn't moving quickly because she was busy. She was spending quite a bit of time chatting with other tables and wait staff. I am an extremely patient person and usually give people the benefit of the doubt, but this was UNACCEPTABLE!
