I called in a take out order and showed up a little early to pick it up. As I was waiting I saw a customer come in and said he had the wrong order and he inspected it very carefully, even opening the lid to the food to say he did not order that food. I was asked what my order was and told the waitress, I watched her go to the back empty the contents out of the bag, put them back in the bag and then return try and serve the food to me. read more

Absolutely LOVE their specialty rolls here!! They have a lot of unique rolls you can't get anywhere else AND the prices are fairly reasonable. The Carlo Roll, Slap Your Momma Roll, Mermaid Roll and Spicy Country Roll are my top 4 favorite rolls there. The chicken or salmon katsu is always cooked just right and the hibachi vegetables are really tastey also. They don't have the hibachi tables to sit at for "the show" but they do have a couple TVs just incase you lack a personality and can't seem to carry on a conversation with your guests :) and the place is nicely decorated and has a sort of authentic vibe to it. read more

Very cozy interior, good lunch menu, large portion of food and served very hot :) Chicken fried rice is what I ordered, it tasted amazing and I will be returning for more! read more

This is probably one of the few sushi places in Ocala. The size of the rolls are very generous and the tuna was exceptionally fresh. The price was fantastic however the miso soup was severely watered down. I also think the service could have been friendlier but it was a severely rainy Friday on 4th of July weekend and that probably put a damper on their traffic and profits. Overall still better than a lot of places that I've frequented in South Florida. read more

My wife and I were walking on the square when we came across this Sushi Bistro. We ordered three specialty rolls: a lobster roll, a Miami roll, and a Slap Your Mama roll and we were pleased with them. The Miami roll had a very salty component, but was still good. We will be back. read more

The food was good the atmosphere was good as well but the service was not on par. The server asked our party if we could hurry up because they needed the xtra table , plus the bride and groom were the last ones to get their food ( all of us were eating ) and last we had to wait to leave because the server rang the entire party up (separate checks) at the end of the night . read more

Wow! What a great discovery! The best pan fried Gyoza we have ever had. We even had a second order for dessert. The Dragon roll, Lobster roll and Volcano roll were unforgettable and all served so attractively. The salad with ginger dressing, often boring and limp at other establishments, was crisp, ice cold and had cucumber with the most delicious dressing. Love Sushi Bistro and will be back soon. read more

If you are going to be in beautiful downtown Ocala, Sushi Bistro is a must!! Outstanding sushi rolls, and also had Seafood Udon noodle stir fry which was off the hook!! Entertainment on the square is special.... really appreciate the effort there also! read more

We dropped in tonight in the hopes of having an appetizer before the movie. It took forever to get our drinks, and we waited an hour for our order. While we waited, we saw at least four tables sit and then leave without getting food. Our server apologized, and was clearly the only person working out front. An hour later, the manager showed up, chewing gum and rubbing his nose. What a shame when dt Ocala is doing so much to attract people into the heart of the city. Go to Grace instead. Wonderful service, terrific food. read more

Very nice quaint place on Broadway in historic downtown Ocala. Pam had the Sushi and said it was the best she had had sense we came to Florida. Everything was very fresh. If it was supposed to be cold it was ice cold and if was to be hot it was very hot which are two of the most important things to me. In the photo you can see the variety of sushi Pam had. The HUGE plus is that they had Gluten Free Soy sauce, normally Pam will bring it with her but today we forgot, but were very happily surprised. I had the Hattachi Grill Beef and Shrimp. It was great. The grilled veggies were full of flavor and still crisp and you could taste the freshness, The shrimp were large and perfectly cooked as were the pieces of sirloin. I would have preferred the steak not be cooked as much but the flavor was great. The dish came with a salad, fried rice and udon noodles. The salad was very bland iceberg with some cucumber and dressing but the rice and the noodles were cooked perfect and full of flavor. For beverages Pam had a Rodney Strong Merlot and I had a Kiren lite beer. The service was much better than the average Asain restaurant. read more

Sushi Bistro - Two California rolls. I almost devoured the whole plate before taking a picture! Yummmmm - Sushi Bars Near Me - Ocala, Florida

Really good AhiTuna. I was disappointed when they were out of both Kirin IchiBan and Kirin light. Maybe it was just because it was NewYearsDay but they were certainly understaffed. We will go back and give them another chance because the Ahi was simply outstanding. read more

Had such a nice meal here. Onion soup was wonderful on a cold night. Edamamae was delicious and the Red dragon roll was the bomb. I also ordered the slap your mama roll on the back page and it was THE BEST! ( I asked for the shrimp to be steamed instead of fried and it was no problem). Good value for what we got (and we were so full). This is a definite must while in Ocala, and we will be back to try some more interesting rolls (back page)! Thanks! read more

Excellent sushi. Taste very fresh. Love the lemon roll and the butterfly roll. Their ginger dressing on the salad is great! It does seem to take a very long time for your food to be ready. It is often way too air-conditioned inside. read more

Great Food, fair prices, really nice location but the service is horrendous. I've never felt more uncomfortable because of a server. I enjoyed the food but because of the service the overall experience at Sushi Bistro was not a good one. read more

Decided to try this place out, since Harry's service to get people table was not good. Service was very pleasant and food was delish. Had salmon hibachi dinner and salmon teriyaki bento box dinner. An appetizer of endaname beans had just the right touch of salt. read more

The wifey and I come here as our go to sushi place. The staff know us by name and are always ready to greet us with a smile. They have our orders down and memorized, plus the sushi is always fresh and delicious! For non-sushi lovers, their hibachi is awesome and comes with a ton of extras! I also enjoy the onion soup, it's a nice palate cleanser if you eat it at the end! read more

This place was ok, I had a 13$ meal that was the crab, spicy tuna, and California rolls. It was an average place to dine

Love their sushi & hibachi! They have a really good sushi lunch special, 2 rolls for $8 plus soup or salad.

I am so excited to have a sushi restaurant downtown Ocala. The first time I went the food was just ok so I decided to give it another try. I tried it again and tried a couple different rolls and really enjoyed it. I love the decor. The spicy mayo just isn't as good as I like. Too mayo tasting. I am a sauce person. I will go back. I was gonna go today for lunch but they don't open till 3 on Sundays? :( read more

The food is really good. I lobe JB tempura, I can can only find it there... But the service is terrible. Every time. It's really just lazy service, but it feels more like poor management... read more

AMAZING VEGGIE PLATTER! Highly recommend for veggie people who need a place to eat in Ocala! Our waiter was fun and helpful, too!

This was my third visit to Sushi Bistro. The atmosphere is nice and the staff is really nice! They were understaffed though (could have been an off night) so it did take a long time to even get our drinks, but it wasn't a big deal. The food was okay. I had them veganize their Cool Roll and that was fantastic but their Teriyaki Tofu Bento Box left a bit to be desired. It isn't a bad place, it just isn't a great place. read more

was creepily slow when I went, but the staff was nice, and the chef was great. Will definitely visit again when I am in the area.

GREAT Bento boxes! My wife had chicken and I had beef. The ginger dressing was excellent as well as the Miso soup. The ice tea was fresh brewed. Super fast service with plenty of wait staff. This is the first time in downtown Ocala and it is lovely. read more

Bottom line first, a place to spend a lot of money and walk out hungry. Now for the full review. The name Sushi Bistro sounded exciting to me. As someone who has eaten sushi for over 45 years, I thought maybe I stumbled onto something new and exiting. As I walked in I was impressed with the upscale decor. Small, but very inviting. As I sat down at the sushi bar, the apparent owner/manager kept herself busy talking on her cell phone. I can only guess that she has other business ventures to attend to, and maybe Sushi Bistro is only a hobby for her. After waiting for a relatively long time (to me, since there was only one other couple in the entire restaurant), a young waitress finally gave me a menu. Since I was by myself I only ordered 3 sushi rolls. the African Spider roll, five wishes, and water-melon man. I also asked for miso soup. While I waited the sushi chef was very nice and gave me a complimentary appetizer of four ultra thin slices of a cucumber toll. Nothing substantial, but hey, it was nice to offer a new customer a welcome appetizer. Now you would think that one person ordering 3 "huge" rolls would be too much to eat. Well, I enjoy taking sushi left overs home to eat later that night. However, as they served each sushi roll one by one, I couldn't believe my eyes. Not only was each roll small compared to other restaurants, each slice was as thin as a thin cucumber slice! I could have put those pieces on my eyes while relaxing at a health spa. As I ate each piece, it didn't even feel I was eating much of anything. Yes, they were tasty......but how about giving me something for my money? Now the 3 sushi rolls almost totaled $40, and yet they charged me extra for the miso soup! Bottom line, I paid over $40 for sushi, not including tip, and I walked out hungry. p.s. The Watermelon-man roll name is very misleading. I looked at the ingredients, and there is no watermelon. I tried to figure out why they would name this roll Watermelon, and then I saw they use BLACK sesame seeds. So blacks eat watermelons? I find this very offensive! read more

Tried this for my wife's birthday. Had good sushi, but they seem sauce happy. The second roll we had, The One Night Stand, was much better than the first. They didn't over do the sauce. I will give it another shot to try another roll. read more

As an avid sushi go-er this isn't anything special. Miso soup was cold, ginger salad tasted funny, place smelt like old bleach, fish was slimy and smelt funny. Oh and my roll was "made wrong" so it took chef 40 minutes to make. Meanwhile everyone in my party received there food on-time and was done eating by the time I got it. I will not be returning. read more

Just meh. Everything is drowned in soy sauce. No flavor just salty. Prices don't match the quality. Mediocre at best. Now I know why I was one of 4 people in the whole place. Really don't have much else to say. read more

Sushi bar? SOOOO NOT! The sushi is not fresh; the service is appallingly SLOW, and despite advertising "gluten free" options, the only GF items our server could offer were the tamari and white rice. We waited forever just to get soft drinks. There are many good restaurants on The Square, but this place is NOT one of them. read more

Poor customer service. Sushi rolls were not good and when we told the waitress she argued with us. We won't be coming back.

Tried the Mermaid Roll-very good. You can sit at the bar and watch them make the rolls. The wasabi was the right amount of spicy and the ginger was fresh. Will come back. read more
