I've been here a couple times, and it is always great! They have a widespread variety on their menu. From sushi to bento boxes, to appetizers, etc. Everything on the menu is/and looks so delicious! The staff is always very friendly and welcoming. Greeting you as you walk in! They are very attentive and make sure you're good! As for the food, they have a buy 2 get 1 free for sushi rolls, which is a win in my books! The prices are very fair for what they offer. We usually get the crunch dragon, and switch off between other rolls. ( the baked lobster roll is definitely a favorite as well!) Everything comes out fresh, and tasty! As for the restaurant itself, it's very clean, and as far as booths/tables, it's a good amount for when it's not too busy. I will say, we did come in on a busy night, so we had to sit at the sushi bar, which we didn't mind at all, but just keep that in mind! With that being said, I definitely recommend! I placed a phone order for two crunch rolls. I was very clear when placing my order, not to add eel sauce on my rolls. The young woman advised that she understood my request and also said that if I ordered two rolls, I would receive a third roll free, which was a pleasant surprise. The young woman confirmed my order, and we hung up. Twenty minutes went by before I arrived at the restaurant to pick up my order. Upon entering and approaching the pick-up counter, I was advised that each of my rolls had been made with eel sauce. Was that ok? I advised the employee that no, it was not ok as I don't like eel sauce. I was advised that, unfortunately, my rolls would have to be remade, at which point I suggested that I had no choice. I waited an additional seven to ten minutes while my rolls were made, I paid for the food, and I left. The rolls were well-made and tasty. I will return in the near future as I DO enjoy the rolls at this restaurant. read more

Papa Sushi & Roll blipped on my Yelp search after trying to find a sushi place in the general West/Covina area that wasn't a chain/AYCE since we wanted sushi, but not a huge amount of it. It's located in a low key plaza and open decently late. The sign in front, just says "Sushi & Roll" though, just an FYI. It wasn't too crowded of a late night dinner with only 2 other tables and some pick up orders. The waitress who was working was very attentive and helpful. There's sushi bar seating and some tables around. Very casual dining experience and affordable sushi and other dishes (ramen, udon, teriyaki, etc.). We got the: 1) Spicy Tuna Roll (8 pieces): -Fresh tuna, none of that bloody pink/red stuff. -Not too spicy, roll sizes were pretty big and there was a bit of cucumber inside too. -Solid spicy tuna roll. 2) Soft Shell Crab: -Decently sized soft shell crab as well. Nice and crispy with good flavor. -Didn't skimp out on the tempura crunchy roll bits or the sauce. 3) Crunchy Albacore Roll (8 pieces): -Also a very sizeable dish. Reminds me of what you can order at an AYCE sushi place to be honest. -Spicy imitation crab meat on the inside with tempura shrimp, albacore on top, with onions and crispy, fried garlic on top. -There was also a spicy, sour vinaigrette for this roll and added a nice kick and pick me up for the taste buds. 4) Salmon sashimi (5 pieces): -These are pretty big slices. Nice and fatty, can't go wrong with some good salmon. All specialty rolls come with a side of miso soup. It was a bit blander and more watered down than what I'm used to, but it had some bits of seaweed in it. Our water came in to go fast food cups, which is great when you think about it since it has been quite hot this summer. I want to see what their hot food dishes are like and would like to try a chirashi or sashimi special from here. Hopefully they expand their menu to include more nigiri and sashimi types! read more

Couldn't find a current menu with updated prices so I decided to play it safe and get a salmon hand roll and their "James roll" to go. $9 for a basic hand roll and $17 for a crappy tempura roll is ridiculous, what a scam. I was hooked at the first sip of my miso soup. Unlimited miso soup when dining in. The miso soup was delicious. I got the 2 items for lunch. I opted out of the salad and got double rice instead. Food is packed with flavor. The beef teriyaki is delicious and so are the gyoza. Service was amazing. My server was very friendly and helpful. Place was clean and wasn't super busy. My favorites are the Red Bull, Sammy, and Rock & Roll. I'd recommend getting a bento box if you're extra hungry and/or the vegetable tempura appetizer. My siblings aren't big sushi fans, so they usually order the BBQ chicken or steak teriyaki plates- which I also really like. My parents stuck to their tempura California rolls at first, but throughout the years they've worked their way through the menu from baked rolls to now fresh rolls! To be honest, I was surprised reading all of the reviews with complaints about the poor customer service. I wouldn't say the staff is overly friendly, but in all my years coming here I haven't had any negative experience. It is a small restaurant, so call ahead if you're coming with a big group. I would usually go on Sunday's after church, and there were times where my group wasn't able to all sit together in one table. This place is under management now called Mega Sushi. Food is not good. Ordered egg rolls, there was very little to no filling and super greasy, the spicy garlic edamame was horrible. No garlic and I'm not sure what kind of chile was used but was super disappointing. The California rolls were ok but will not eat there again. Even shrimp tempura tasted weird. read more

This review is based on my customer service experience. I called hoping to place a pick-up order and a girl answered. Without giving me an opportunity to say anything, she immediately put me on hold, which I expected since it was a busy Friday night. I waited for about 10 minutes and hung up since she never came back on the line. I called back again only to get the same thing; Answer, then immediate hold.
