    Caterpillar Roll is heavenly!!
    Lee S.

Best sushi I ever had and I have had tons of sushi. The rice doesn't overwhelm the sushi and sauce since they don't put a lot. The caterpillar roll is absolutely incredible, flavorful and juicy. Honestly every roll we had was a winner!! We did the all you can eat dinner and we are coming back for more!!!

Love ordering carry out from Sushi Ai. We order for pick up via Uber Eats and get the dinner combos which include 3 rolls, 4 pieces of nigiri, and your choice of appetizer. It's so filling and priced very reasonably. Plenty of options as a vegan or vegetarian too!

Can't believe I've never reviewed Sushi AI!! My friends and I always come here for all you can eat sushi since the price is just phenomenal ($20 for lunch & $25 for dinner). The menus are slightly different but service is usually pretty quick unless they are slammed so come ready to eat!!

Sushi Ai in Downtown St. Louis is an excellent spot for Japanese cuisine. The $16.99 lunch all-you-can-eat (available if you arrive by 3:00 p.m.) offers a wide variety of fresh, made-to-order dishes, while the $24.99 dinner all-you-can-eat offers an even broader selection. The sushi is well-prepared and neatly presented. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed. Sushi Ai is located on the ground level of the Frisco Building--a historic office building constructed in 1903-1904 as the headquarters of the St. Louis-San Francisco Railway. The mix of historic architecture, including the historic Old Post Office, and the Citygarden sculpture park makes this part of Downtown St. Louis a delightful setting for dining and a leisurely walk.

This is the go to when getting sushi in stl. The downtown location has a downstairs and upstairs seating area. The wait is never long occasionally it'll be 10mins or so. The service is fantastic, they are nice and efficient, helpful, and attentive. The sushi is outstanding- I mean the appetizers, every sushi roll has been good. The price is right for all you can eat, this is really the go to!

I didn't dine in at Sushi Ai, so I can't speak for the dining experience, but I had the pleasure of ordering delivery from Sushi Ai, and I am overall very pleased. I was extra pleased when a neighbor of mine saw the bag and mentioned that Sushi Ai is really good. I ordered the Nigiri Deluxe, and you can see from my pictures that this was an excellent deal for close to $25. So much food! The taste was great too. Surprisingly the fish was fresh. I will most definitely try dining in next time!

Nine of us one from California and Houston visited this restaurant on August 27 and we ate at this place. The food was excellent and the service was awesome. Special mention to Mr Ralfy. He was very attentive to our requests. Overall, excellent experience.

Love love love all you can eat sushi. It's to die for. The Baked Salmon appetizer has crab meat in it and I wish they said that beforehand. Also the staff isn't friendly towards the homeless, which is understandable as a business owner, but nonetheless leaves a bad taste in my mouth. A good business has good behavior towards all people, not just the disheveled, or unhoused. Despite these detractors, Sushi AI is a STL STAPLE. Have never seen or had AYCE Sushi anywhere else. Truly a remarkable and unique place that has the BEST Sushi in the Midwest. Also they have a mezzanine! Love that.

The food was phenomenal! Got sushi rolls, sashimi, soup, appetizers, General Tso chicken box, etc. Loved all of it! My only issue was the service. Our waitress, rushed us at the end of our meal and didn't offer an opportunity to order desserts before bringing out the check. Asked for her assistance with the dessert menu but she seemed bothered so we decided to just end our meal. We will try again but will avoid this waitress.

Came for all you can eat lunch sushi for a weekday lunch. It was pretty empty inside & I was sat immediately. My server was friendly and attentive constantly checking in to see if I needed anything. Ordered the Miso soup, shumai, and crab rangoons for appetizers. I ordered the St. Louis roll (fried), yamasa, and americandream. I also got a side of spicy mayo The miso soup was great. I haven't had a lot of soups with actual seaweed in them so it was a pleasant surprise. I would skip the shumai, they were small with a slimy consistency and no real shrimp taste which was disappointing. The crab rangoons were yummy! I enjoyed both the yamasa and American dream rolls, they had good flavor and were well balanced. The St. Louis roll was too cream cheese heavy and overpowered everything. The idea is good because the balance of crab and cream cheese pair well but there was little crab/crab flavor and overwhelming warm cream cheese coming out of the roll. Overall for the price this is a great option for lunch, will definitely be back to try more options!

Sushi Ai all you can lunch?! Where have you been all my life? Have I been living under a rock? Apparently, because when a friend texted me and asked me if I wanted to get all you can eat sushi at Sushi Ai for $15 for lunch, I had no idea this was a thing. This location is located on olive, and parking can always be a bit tricky since you're downtown. I got lucky and scored a spot right outside. We had a party of 6 and the service was great. We filled out what we wanted on the table cards- tons of options that you can order for the special. I ordered shrimp tempura roll, veggie roll, and the St. Louis roll. I also ordered gyoza, which was amazing. The rolls came out freshly made and were made beautifully. The ingredients were fresh and delicious, and I was wildly full. I will absolutely come back and try more of their delicious rolls.

Is the all you can eat limited to a certain number of items? The menu says all you can eat, but then says "3 rolls, 4 pieces"

From my last experience, that means you can pay the advertised price for AYCE or you get that stated amount of rolls for take-out.

Is all you can eat still available?

Of course! Awesome place and I am coming back ! AYCE!

We didn't get a choice and were sat at the bar. Ordering is done through the QR code and water is offered self-serve. We split an order of the appetizers: house cucumbers and karaage. I'm not a huge cucumber fan but I tried it. I preferred the one with miso as I found it to be more subtle in taste. The chicken was average and didn't wow me. We each got the chicken shoyu with no pork, no scallions and an extra egg. It felt like it took a long time to get our food. We were both surprised once we got it as we were expecting actual chicken pieces but after rereading the menu description, it was chicken oil. He was a bit disappointed as both our dishes were covered in scallions. I suggested we not send it back since it took quite a while to get our food and they were close to closing. Nevertheless, I found the broth to be tasty and full of flavor despite there being no meat. Overall, it was a solid first visit.

Appalling, especially since I wasn't offered water, a seat while I waited, nor was I greeted with a hello, a smile or thanked for coming in. Maybe the automatic gratuity is the very reason for the lack of hospitality here. The lack of hostility is the very reason I will never return. P.S. the sushi was decent. Some rolls are half off and so are a few beverages, like hot sake. I had never had hot sake. I've only had any sake once. I liked it fine, but I didn't want a second order after I finished the first. I was disappointed that Robata was out of plum wine. Instead I ordered what was described as a white sangria, but it tasted more like a brandy. I had a few sips and gave it to my friend. I had 4 vegetarian sushi rolls. Only the asparagus was included with happy hour. My 3 other rolls were takuan, pickle plum and BB. As much as I like plum (keep reading), and takuan was a pleasant surprise, and the asparagus was good, the BB, which has tempura asparagus, cream cheese, and sweet soy, was my favorite item of the evening. I was happy to see umeboshi onigiri on the lengthy menu. These were of a good size, but I think it perhaps would have benefitted from a higher pickled plum to rice ratio. (The only time I've had it has been from a food truck and I don't know how representative it is of onigiri.) Each order of food took a while to come out. My friend had trouble getting the server's attention when she wanted to put in more orders. Robata is not a place for a quick happy hour bite. It's going to take a while, especially if you're ordering in multiple rounds like we did. When the kitchen got too busy, my order another roll was denied. That happened well before dinner service ended and it was disappointing. I would have waited a bit longer. But it was probably good to get cut off from sushi at some point. We were a little confused by the bills. My friend may have overpaid (not gotten happy hour price) for some of her items, and there was some question about whether mine had been billed correctly, but in the end we decided that mine was probably correct. Hers, though... we aren't sure. I think I'll return to Robata for the BB roll, plum wine, and maybe something new, but I will be sure to have plenty of time, order a bunch all at once, and check the bill.

The heat was out? Which the waitress apologized for. They had a space heater out, so we sat right by that. I also ordered a few of the onigiri to go. They aren't the best I've had, but I'll probably be back semi-regularly to get my fix of the flavor, which is just so unique. The shrimp come tail on, which is fine, but one of them had sand in it, I'm not sure from what, but they definitely were not thoroughly cleaned. The flavor was flat and yet the Pad Thai was overly saucy. I saw people saying this restaurant it is authentic, speaking highly of the food, but they must be comparing it to other Thai-American spots because I just don't see it at least from the Pad Thai. Pad Thai should ideally have subtle cooked down flavors of tamarind and fish sauce, some complex sweetness from palm sugar, and subtle dried shrimp flavor as well. But here the flavor just was bland and uninteresting. Some redeeming qualities are that they had some dried shrimp on top, which is very rare in the US even in larger cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Seattle; the rice noodles themselves were cooked well (not over or undercooked); the bean sprouts looked fresh and clean; and the peanuts, chili powder, and lime coming separately was appreciated.
