where should i start..... maybe with the neck pain that has plagued me for about 10 years..... it got to the point where just looking to the side, was agony....it's gone.. i think after the 2 visit.... now it feels lovely and free.. i'vediscovered, it wasnt really my neck causing the pain.. its my shoulders.. which have been carrying emotional issues from childhood.. no wonder my neck hurt so much... we work on those about once a week.. Then there's my hip, my hormones, my skin and apparantly my Gaul bladder .. That we work on.. it does take conscious efforts on my part , to relax and release.. its definately easier said than done.. and thats one of the main reasons i love susan jarrell as my acupuncturist... she's a natural healer.. For everyone, there is uniqe way of dealing with the body, mind, soul connection.. i feel that susan understands that and proceeds with giving uniqe attention to getting the ailment "out by the root".. Susan has been treating me for back pain induced by stress (in NYC? Suprise!) for about four months. Her treatments have become increasingly productive over time. I have grown to look forward to the relief that I get on a weekly basis. In addition to the back pain, Susan has helped me deal with the respiratory issues associated with living in the City through both acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. We have also started working on my flexibility to help me continue advancing in my Yoga practice. I can right AND left pigeon! While I don't understand exactly how everything works, I do know it does. When I asked, Susan took the time to try and explain how tiny tiny needles release the tension in the muscles. I went to Susan, a few weeks ago for my 4 year old son who had cold flu-like symptoms. I was searching for a pediatric acupuncturist, who treated toddlers my son's age, and was so lucky to find her on-line. It was interesting to see the pediatric side of acupuncture. She was able to treat him without using needles. She was very warm, gentle, and soothing with my son who took to her right away. A day or two later my son, was back to his energetic self. He also told me he really liked Susan and wanted to see her again. I have been going to Susan for nearly 3 months to recover from a debilitating sports injury that I picked up while playing soccer. My hamstrings just couldn't take the sport after a break that was as long as 7 years. Add to it my lower back problems, that I picked up in a car crash a few years back, and you have a walking "Qi" disaster (of the lower body.) When I landed up at her doorstep, I was much in pain, in spite of having practiced yoga for 10 years. I needed something extra and I feel I have found it in acupuncture.... I still remember my first session because I left it relaxed and surprisingly much less in pain. Of course, I went back and I realized that I was with a healer (Susan) who listens intently, monitors closely, and is open to suggestions. Acupuncture, as I have found out, is an interactive one-on-one with the one who is providing it , but it is very essential to be proactive on one's part. It is also essential that one is heard and that the suggestions are incorporated by the acupuncturist. I found this in Susan, and I believe that it is one of her strongest points. That is the ability to hear you and follow accordingly with her knowledge of this healing art (acupuncture.) At 39 weeks pregnant, I saw Susan for the first time. I explained to her that I was hoping to naturally induce the baby with acupuncture. She took such great care of me, made painstaking efforts to hit all the spots that might lead to some movement. She kept checking in on me and adjusting everything (which is different from other types of acupuncture). Lo and behold, soon after I saw her, I naturally have birth to a healthy baby boy! Susan Jarrell began treating my husband and I for athletic aches, pains and strains. I quickly realized however, that the experience was much more a mind/body encounter than a simple fixer-upper. Subsequently, I sought treatment during my pregnancy with my second daughter. I saw Susan multiple times for pre-natal treatment; the most profound however, proved to be the induction treatments. I had an emergency C section with my first and was hoping for a VBAC with my second. Susan not only created an environment that helped decrease stress and anxiety, but also tuned in to my body and its needs and wants almost effortlessly. Her gentle presence was both reassuring and firm; I always feel as though she is fully with me, even when it is hard for me to be fully present in the room. The induction treatments resulted in the onset of labor, and a successful VBAC! She communicated what I might expect following treatment, to enhance my own body awareness but also to provide support and decrease any additional fears around the birth process. Susan also provided post natal services, inviting my infant and me to session to assist in our breastfeeding process and nourish our early mother daughter relationship. Susan is incredibly adept at her craft, she listens with her full self and acts purposefully to provide what is needed.
