I have been treated by Susan for over 10 years (!) since I was a kid, and every session has been fantastic. Susan has always cared in the perfect way, adapted to whatever my needs were, and helped to almost remove my fear of needles. Sessions could not be more calming, without shying away from making things hurt a little. Susan has been a huge part of my physical life, and I hope she can be in yours too! read more

I've received acupuncture from Susan many times over the years for all kinds of complaints ranging from stress & sleep issues to back pain. I am a regular runner who has trained for several marathons and coming to her always helps heal the niggling aches and pains that arise from a consistent running practice. Susan's manner, compassion, and skill with the needles keeps me coming back. That and the effectiveness of her treatments! Her office is beautiful, warm, and healing. Highly recommend especially if you are new to acupuncture. read more

Sleepless bloody nights, restless early mornings, long arduous flights often leading to butchered and cantankerous circadian rhythm and occasionally, just simple irritating-'life stuff' I went 'hand in glove' and 'heart in shoes' to this, somewhat magical, mystical, beautiful -empathetic acupuncturist. Suffice it to say, other than the occasional, re-boot and when I really wanted to treat myself, after the prescribed amount of sessions - I found my Joire de vivre and my bounce returned- I'm indebted to my dear friend for referring me to Susan which allowed me to experience this -sublime, cathartic, patient gorgeous practitioner ..and some of her ingenious skills and knowledge that helped me my get back up on my feet and carry on. I could, frankly, wax eloquent about this woman all day and night and into the next.Thank you so very much. read more

where should i start..... maybe with the neck pain that has plagued me for about 10 years..... it got to the point where just looking to the side, was agony....it's gone.. i think after the 2 visit.... now it feels lovely and free.. i'vediscovered, it wasnt really my neck causing the pain.. its my shoulders.. which have been carrying emotional issues from childhood.. no wonder my neck hurt so much... we work on those about once a week.. Then there's my hip, my hormones, my skin and apparantly my Gaul bladder .. That we work on.. it does take conscious efforts on my part , to relax and release.. its definately easier said than done.. and thats one of the main reasons i love susan jarrell as my acupuncturist... she's a natural healer.. For everyone, there is uniqe way of dealing with the body, mind, soul connection.. i feel that susan understands that and proceeds with giving uniqe attention to getting the ailment "out by the root".. IT! FEELS! SO! GOOD!!! And intense.. and totally benificial physically and emotionally.. i have seen a chinese MD/acupuncturist and it was nice, just because acupuncture feels good no matter what... but the difference in treatment was a world apart.. susans effect is full of so much more passion for what her trade and gift is... i do feel that she enjoys helping me feel better.. and wants it for me.. and it's working. im not going to even mention how satisfied i am with her cost... i will let that be a pleasant surprise... THANK YOU SUSAN... see you next week.. d. read more

Susan has been treating me for back pain induced by stress (in NYC? Suprise!) for about four months. Her treatments have become increasingly productive over time. I have grown to look forward to the relief that I get on a weekly basis. In addition to the back pain, Susan has helped me deal with the respiratory issues associated with living in the City through both acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. We have also started working on my flexibility to help me continue advancing in my Yoga practice. I can right AND left pigeon! While I don't understand exactly how everything works, I do know it does. When I asked, Susan took the time to try and explain how tiny tiny needles release the tension in the muscles. Susan takes a personal approach that brings back memories of Doctor's making house calls, knowing your name, and caring abiout your well being even after you leave the office. I hope this helps you get the help you need. read more

Susan exudes compassion and competence, and her "tableside manner" is unbeatable. She listens attentively, asks questions that let me know she's really thinking through my issues and seeking the best possible way to address them. Probably my favorite thing about Susan, though, is how comfortable she makes me feel. Her down-to-earth/direct way of interacting with you, coupled with the exceptional care she gives, makes you feel like you're in excellent hands indeed. read more

Susan is amazing and has saved me multiple times. The first time was years ago, 40 weeks pregnant and needing some back pain relief and more recently, with a knee injury close to the NYC Marathon. I credit Susan with giving my IT band the love it needed to be able to run the race the way I wanted. She is kind and has a lovely bedside manner and is just an expert. Highly recommend. read more

Susan is a wonderful acupuncturist who has helped me recover from numerous injuries over the past few years. She has wonderful bedside manner and is flexible with her timing, and her sessions are extremely reasonably priced. I would and have recommend to Susan to anyone. read more

Susan is warm, thoughtful, and professional. She's easy to work with--she responds to email queries promptly--and committed to healing. I spend a lot of time at the keyboard, and her work has provided valuable relief to my arms, wrists, neck, and back. (I'd actually rate Susan's work at 4.5, though Yelp doesn't allow half stars, because I always think there's room for improvement. But I recommend her wholeheartedly.) read more

I am so happy and thankful that Susan was recommended to me - she is a true healer. I had never tried acupuncture before, but after years of trying various treatments for back/neck pain and headaches (from traditional medicine to physical therapy to chiropractic), I decided to give it a shot. She has always made me feel at ease, is always happy to explain what she's doing and answer questions, and is a very warm person. After a few months of regular treatments, I can absolutely say that the work has helped reduce the pain significantly. If you are interested in trying out acupuncture, I recommend her completely. Thank you, Susan! read more

If you have chronic or acute pain, do yourself a favor and see Susan! I leave her office feeling better physically and emotionally each time. I first contacted her years ago to treat chronic migraines, a pain I've had since adolescence; I saw several neurologists and tried other forms of non-traditional treatment, but nothing worked. After just a few sessions with Susan, I no longer had to take daily preventative medication, she truly helped me. Since then, she successfully treated a stubborn sinus infection, a lower back/hamstring injury and a gynecological issue. Her energy is warm and professional and I've felt comfortable each time she worked on me. read more

I've been getting acupuncture for many years and can attest to its benefit to life and health. I've had some great but also bad experiences in the past. For me the key is the acupuncturist perfoming the procedure. Susan is one the best finds, not only does she have the most amazing bedside manner she also possesses a unique disposition that immediately puts you at ease with her kind calming nature that instantly provides a safe and friendly environment. Her method is painstakingly thoughtful, taking in account your entire health history and instigating a honest dialog to get to the roots of all your needs. Susan also introduced me to cupping that was a first for me and quite an exhilarating experience. At times it felt like a Reiki experience, evoking emotion and sense of cleansing. I am definitely hooked on Susan and will be going back on a regular basis. Extremely reasonable rates with a much better experience than higher priced acupuncturists I've been to! Love Love Love this new find! Morné read more

I went to Susan, a few weeks ago for my 4 year old son who had cold flu-like symptoms. I was searching for a pediatric acupuncturist, who treated toddlers my son's age, and was so lucky to find her on-line. It was interesting to see the pediatric side of acupuncture. She was able to treat him without using needles. She was very warm, gentle, and soothing with my son who took to her right away. A day or two later my son, was back to his energetic self. He also told me he really liked Susan and wanted to see her again. Susan is a wonderful acupuncturist, who has the finesse of a professional, and warmth of an experienced mother and healer. read more

I have been going to Susan for nearly 3 months to recover from a debilitating sports injury that I picked up while playing soccer. My hamstrings just couldn't take the sport after a break that was as long as 7 years. Add to it my lower back problems, that I picked up in a car crash a few years back, and you have a walking "Qi" disaster (of the lower body.) When I landed up at her doorstep, I was much in pain, in spite of having practiced yoga for 10 years. I needed something extra and I feel I have found it in acupuncture.... I still remember my first session because I left it relaxed and surprisingly much less in pain. Of course, I went back and I realized that I was with a healer (Susan) who listens intently, monitors closely, and is open to suggestions. Acupuncture, as I have found out, is an interactive one-on-one with the one who is providing it , but it is very essential to be proactive on one's part. It is also essential that one is heard and that the suggestions are incorporated by the acupuncturist. I found this in Susan, and I believe that it is one of her strongest points. That is the ability to hear you and follow accordingly with her knowledge of this healing art (acupuncture.) And not to forget, she is extremely affordable and a definite "to-go-to" for a long-term haul. It's evident that she loves acupuncture and will do it for little! read more

At 39 weeks pregnant, I saw Susan for the first time. I explained to her that I was hoping to naturally induce the baby with acupuncture. She took such great care of me, made painstaking efforts to hit all the spots that might lead to some movement. She kept checking in on me and adjusting everything (which is different from other types of acupuncture). Lo and behold, soon after I saw her, I naturally have birth to a healthy baby boy! I highly recommend Susan for induction acupuncture but also more generally--I loved her approach and manner. read more

Susan Jarrell began treating my husband and I for athletic aches, pains and strains. I quickly realized however, that the experience was much more a mind/body encounter than a simple fixer-upper. Subsequently, I sought treatment during my pregnancy with my second daughter. I saw Susan multiple times for pre-natal treatment; the most profound however, proved to be the induction treatments. I had an emergency C section with my first and was hoping for a VBAC with my second. Susan not only created an environment that helped decrease stress and anxiety, but also tuned in to my body and its needs and wants almost effortlessly. Her gentle presence was both reassuring and firm; I always feel as though she is fully with me, even when it is hard for me to be fully present in the room. The induction treatments resulted in the onset of labor, and a successful VBAC! She communicated what I might expect following treatment, to enhance my own body awareness but also to provide support and decrease any additional fears around the birth process. Susan also provided post natal services, inviting my infant and me to session to assist in our breastfeeding process and nourish our early mother daughter relationship. Susan is incredibly adept at her craft, she listens with her full self and acts purposefully to provide what is needed. It's worth considering a third child, just to have the experience with her again!! More than highly recommend this gem. A true kind soul. read more
