How can I describe something that feels so awful, and so wonderful at the same time? Gua Sha. Argh. I have never had it done before (never even heard of it) but I came to Grace in so much pain caused by immense stress. At first, I thought that "neck scraping" was going to increase my stress because honestly, I was in such pain that it did hurt a bit. Moments later, I relaxed and (almost) enjoyed the sensation. But from the time I left the office, and over the next few days, I was pretty much painfree! I love getting acupuncture, and I've also had cupping done at Cobble Hill; both amazing sessions with Grace, whose healing powers are unparalleled. But now I'm adding Gua Sha to yet another miracle treatment to my overall plan. Not great "bedside manner" from the practitioner or the counter receptionist. I went in for a "free" consultation for some help with dealing with arthritis but wasn't given any suggestions/recommendations for care. Ended up being charged $150 for a full session. Also, there was very little communication about what the session was going to entail or just any information about acupuncture and the procedure at all. I had also emailed the receptionist to ask to move my appointment and she only returned my email 2 days AFTER my appointment (which, naturally, was of no help). I also literally left the office with a needle in my leg, which I pulled out myself and returned to the front desk. read more

I left my session feeling more stressed and anxious than I came in. I was new to acupuncture and told this to Grace (my practitioner). I expected her to provide general guidance on what to expect from the session and come check in a few times to make sure I was comfortable. However, I was left alone on the table with needles all over me for 1.5 hours while she attended to a slew of other patients who came in the clinic. The constant chatter of clients going in and out in such a small space was definitely not relaxing. After 1.5 hours, Grace came in, removed the needles - and just left. When I came out to pay, she quickly said bye but then turned around and put me in an uncomfortable situation by asking how I was feeling in front 3 of her other clients at the reception. It felt awkward to honestly answer and express how uncomfortable I was. Grace will listen, then take your pulse and look at your tongue, as she asks you some questions, then she figures out the perfect treatment for you at the time. I almost cried when my session finished. I walked in with a lot of pain, but I was relieved that after one session the pain was lifted. I can affirm that Grace resolved two of my health issues. She prepared for me a mixture of traditional herbs that improved the function of my spleen and removed dampness. As a side effect, I lost interest in sweet or fatty food and consequently lost 25 pounds. I went here with neck pain, severe headaches and stiffness two months after a fall that resulted in whiplash, two fractures and two herniated discs in my C4 and C5. I did not need surgery but the damage was extensive. I had been through pain management and physical therapy and although I was definitely getting better, I felt the progress was not amazing. My spine doctor did assure me that my injury was one in which one day I would wake up and just be pain free, similar to a rib fracture. I didn't believe him, but just two days after visiting Grace, it happened!! Grace is super nice and listens to your full medical history and concerns very attentively. I called for an appointment and she was able to schedule me that same day which was great because I had to call out from work that day from the pain and my availability on other days was limited. The session was at least an hour and I lost count of all the needles she stuck in me, literally in every area of my body front and back. For those of you new to acupuncture, it does not hurt. You might feel a nerve twinge when the practitioner twists them a little deeper into the tissue but it really isn't bad at all. She then wrapped me in a space blanket and roasted me under a heat lamp. It felt amazing and I dozed off on both sides. That night, my ears turned bright red and were on fire! I asked an acupuncture practitioner friend of mine and he said that sometimes happen when the liver is stimulated. I don't know. The next day my ears were fine and I was pain free, with just a little stiffness. Each day from there it got better and better. When I had physical therapy four days later, lo and behold, my range of motion had improved so much, my PT was so amazed! She told me I might be a graduate soon, and I saw her only twice after that day before the end of our sessions. Grace did say that I would benefit the most from once to twice a week sessions, but my insurance does not cover it and at $100 per session, there's no way I was going to do that. I am so thankful that I was able to get such positive results from only one visit! I might return for another session to address an SI joint problem in the future. read more

My name is Urszula and I'd like to share my story. Last January 2020 my family got infected with some vicious virus. We are not sure but it could be COVID-19 since it was too early to test it but the symptoms were similar. I have been to several acupuncturists over the years and Grace is as good as it gets! I had been in severe emotional distress and on one particularly bad day I decided acupuncture could help. I read the reviews on Yelp, called Grace, and she got me in that afternoon. She was easy to talk to and very comforting. Simply by holding my wrist, she was able to tell my asthma had been bad, as well as other health issues I was having. I could feel my energy shift with each needle she put in, and after just one session my asthma was COMPLETELY gone. Grace is a miracle worker. I cannot possibly recommend her any higher. I broke my leg and (slightly) separated my ankle from join in September in a nasty fall. Worst injury I've ever had. I went to Grace about two weeks after being taken from a hard cast to a walking boot to help with soreness and stimulate healing. After my first two sessions, I felt a little change in my energy and mobility. Once the walking boot came off and I was (and am) in a small lace up ankle brace, the real pain started. I had muscle aching and soreness so severe for the first week and a half that I was almost in tears and would hold my breath when walking. Just agonizing pain. From the bottom of my feet to my hip from the reuse of atrophied muscles and unused joints. And New York isn't a city where you can just sit patiently and heal. I also have a large dog and a fairly active lifestyle that I was ready to get back into sans cast/boot so the pain was just not okay! I went to Grace and described the pain and she worked her magic. My pain, within a day and since last Thursday, went from a 10 to a 0 after one session. There's no stiffness or soreness. No pain from the bruising. No pain within the ankle. My muscles have been more useable and comfortable. The joints feel less rusty. And I've been on my feet quite a bit! She's basically pushed my healing process forward so quickly and my orthopedist said physical therapy wasn't necessary because my mobility is improving well. I can't express how grateful I am to her.
