OK so Loonie Plus is your typical dollar store but…read more.. My sister and I were on our way to a party supply store to buy helium balloons when we passed Loonie Plus and noticed balloons in their window. Turns out they sell helium balloons in a rainbow of colours for $0.99 each! That's $0.50 less then the cheapest party store I researched. I was sure at $0.99 a pop (ha ha) that we would have to buy/tie our own ribbon and I envisioned us struggling at the back of the store trying to tie a bunch of floating balloons. But nope, I was wrong. The owner blew all 16 of them up for us and tied them with matching coloured ribbon! He even made the extra effort to curl the ribbon ends and arrange the balloons nicely in their bunches. Like I said, Loonie Plus is your typical dollar store but the friendly owner made a real difference. I now have a go-to place for cheap and cheerful party balloons!

We were looking for stocking stuffers and little things to add to presents. Hallmark was the…read moreperfect place for that and we almost overlooked it, as it was the last store on the right as we were walking towards The Bay to go downstairs. The Hallmark ornaments from the official store are always the best quality. I saw that Walmart had Hallmark ornaments but these were smaller and didn't have all the extras on some of them like lights or sounds. They had classic Christmas ornaments featuring snowmen, marshmallows, etc, but they also had a ton of licensed stuff from Friends, Elf, and of course, Disney including Star Wars and Marvel. Some of the ornaments were limited edition as they were celebrating Disney's 100th anniversary or were special to 2023. The employees were good about greeting people and asking if we needed help. There was a lot in the store and some of it was fragile or out of reach so it was much needed. There was a lot to see around the store. Decorations, lots of Disney statues, and they had all the classic Hallmark stuff - the angels and stuff. It is a small store and the line got kind of wonky because there wasn't much space to stand. The employees were good about noticing who was next in line so there weren't any line jumpers. It was also really hectic in there but they were very pleasant and even sporting Santa hats! Will definitely make it a point to check Hallmark during the holidays in the future.
