I went during one of the many busy weekends before an holiday or event. The location is pretty big. It gives off a bit of scenery overload if it happens to be one of your first times and if it is near a holiday or event (like me in my case). I would probably go during the off season or before there is a lot of people buying. Visited most recently to pick up balloons for a work event. Randomly, we discovered back at the office we had purchased a "Q" instead of an "O" so had to drive back to exchange it. The girl at the cash was sweet about it and didn't give us a hassle. Upon further investigation it seems all of the "Q" letters had been placed into the "O" spot which caused the mix up. Party City... definitely not. More like "Please hold for 5 minutes in line with no one at cash and maybe we might get back to you." I just came back from here and surprised to see the 4 star rating. Then again, most are over 5 years old ... this place did not age gracefully. Finding party supplies is painful ... not many options or stores. Party City is one of the few spots where you can grab balloons, plates, or coloured knick knacks to fill up a room. I'll say the only positive to this place is that it is relatively clean. The store is large and this normally is a plus. In this case, it's actually a negative cause the store is more or less organized by themes instead of item. Want balloons... well, there's kinda a balloon aisle but you can go to 4 other spots around the store if you want to see more balloons. This doesnt make for a good experience. As for the products, triple check what you're picking up. I was here to pick up a helium tank for balloons and I had to go through 5 boxes before I could find one that wasn't a destroyed box. Bottoms were half ripped or bottom flaps became unglued so most likely will drop the tank as your're carrying it. It's just a mess. Honestly... would it hurt them to check the condition of products before putting them for sale? As for service... dear lawd it's bad. When I first walked in, I noticed there's no one at the cashiers and there was one gentleman already impatiently waiting at the front of the line. There was one guy stocking shelves nearby, a person talking to a customer in an aisle, and a manager just walking about. I ran around for 10 minutes trying to even find the balloons I needed and a tank. I come back to the front... to only see the same man first in line with NO ONE at the cashier. This time I did see someone on the phone off the side behind the desk areas and the manager still walking about. REALLY? Are you guys not interested in selling? Finally the lady who was talking to the people in the aisle finally stopped and got to the cashiers. I hate to even suggest this place but maybe only as a last place option. Apparently Party Packagers is now called Party City... This is the place to go when you are looking for party supplies for any type of party you're holding. No matter what you're celebrating, they will probably have it. Prices are decent but I think their glow stuff are a bit overpriced. Party City can get really busy in October because that's when everyone goes costume shopping. Be sure to go early in October so your costume is still in stock and you can avoid the long lineups. However, why not save money and trade costumes with friends or people on Kijiji? That's what I did last year. The line to cash out can be quite slow and long because they only have 2 people working on cash. read more

Party City is a go-to destination for all of your party needs and conveniently located. Selection: good variety of products but there is a disconnect between online offering and in store. BEWARE if you use the "check availability in store" option on the website...it is inaccurate with store inventory. Call ahead and have an employee look for the item you with want the SKU number before going to the store. I've been disappointed MANY times with this issue until I spoke with a manager and they told me about the inaccuracy. Balloons: great spot for balloons! If you buy a foil balloon the helium is free. Again, BEWARE....they have balloons inflated in the store so you can see what they look like but they don't always have the balloons shown, in stock. This is extremely misleading. Also note that they only guarantee helium for 24 hour but balloon experts can confirm that helium usually lasts LONGER. If your balloon deflated after one day it probably had a defect or leakage...I've had this happen twice. Recent example in the photos of a balloon I bought for a Happy Birthday Piñata Llama. It was inflated at 10am. We picked it up at 1pm and it was ALREADY deflated. Worst part was the staff did not change it and allowed us to take it home...poor integrity standards. We brought it back at 1:45pm as it was not sitting right with us and got a different balloon since this was the LAST ONE in stock. Disappointed birthday boy, to say the least.... Pro Tip: save helium balloons for the future and reinflate them! Service: unfortunately this is a BIG area of opportunity. The Heartland location has SLOOOOW service. Every time I go in, I plan to spend at least 20-40 minutes in line. On weekends it is the worst since they don't have enough staff and move slow. So frustrating that they need to ask customers for their email address every time, even when the line is long and that holds up the process. read more

I was shocked coming in here and seeing the vast array of stuff they carry on a daily basis. The staff were putting out the summer themed items for your Canada Day party, grad party, communion celebration, or summer luau. The staff is not always the best (friendliest) but they do point you in the right direction. After visiting the Vega Blvd location disappointed (no stock, not the best customer service) we decided to call this location to see if they have the balloons we needed for a party the next day. They happily told us to come in, even though the store was closing in about 15 mins. When we got there, they were closing in 5 mins but was so willing to help us and did the balloons quickly....not even mad that they had to stay after their shift. We received such awesome customer service that night and all my frustrations from the previous location were erased! Alexis and Addison were the two employees helping us, but actually all the employees we encountered were helpful that Sat night. Checked online the next day to see if I can email the head office regarding the awesome customer service we got but I couldn't find a contact. Anyway! Go to this location to any of your party needs! Yesterday around 4pm my boyfriend and I entered party city in search of supplies for our gender announcing party. They had great deals both online and in store (buy one cup set and get one free) which is very helpful for new parents. Everything was reasonably priced and they had tons of stock. But that's not why our experience was 5 stars. Claudio cashes us out at front desk. As soon as he began to cash us out he realized what our supplies were for and congratulated us. He even went as far as voiding our order to change some items that we confused. He did not rush us or anything but was helpful in every way. His customer service was outstanding. He was really helpful and attentive and even gave us some great family advice (being a father himself). He went out of his was and made our experience unlike any other.
