My friend David and I dined here for dinner tonight. David has been dining here since they opened and recommended it for our meal tonight since they have many vegetarian and pescatarian dishes. This place is located on Chamblee Tucker road directly across from the IRS and PDK airport. Parking is ample and free. The restaurant decor is beautiful and features a golden reclining Buddha near the entrance. There is a bar in the middle with seating and a full cocktail, beer and wine selection. There is also terrace seating with great views however it lacks sufficient shade at some tables and it was quite hot outside therefore we chose to dine inside. We started with the vegetarian egg rolls and Thai iced teas. We then shared the Veggie and Tofu dish and a separate shrimp curry dish. They arrived with steamed white rice. Everything was delicious and flavorful. The spice level was balanced and right on target for my taste buds. Service was friendly and attentive however we did have some minor language barriers with one of the servers so we spoke slowly and visually pointed to the specific menu items that we wanted. The food here is off the charts. It's a casual spot and the service was quick and efficient. I got the coffee pork which was everyone's favorite at the table. The pork was juicy and sweet, delectable. They have two versions of papaya salad, one is "stinkier" - the table loved both. Perfect balance of stink and spice. I'd 100% recommend their Hainan style chicken. The chicken was glistening it was so moist and the rice was seasoned so well. The sauce is sweet and spicy, pairs great with the meal. Ate dinner here tonight, and all the food we ordered was delicious! Parking was easy to find. The parking lot is free and offers a whole lot of spaces - certainly more spaces than are needed for all the businesses sharing the lot. When we walked in, there were only two customers sitting inside the restaurant. The restaurant's indoor dining area is very spacious, and, if needed, many ore tables can be placed onto the floor and customers probably still wouldn't feel crowded. The interior is well decorated and brings to life a definite Asian feel, with the darker colored wooden chairs and tables, plants scattered throughout and unique looking lighting fixtures. We were immediately welcomed in and quickly shown a table. After our server gave us menus, he took our drink orders. When he came back, we were ready to order food. Our intent was to each order a dish that we wanted so that we could share the items. We even told the server that we were going to share the food. I ordered Nam Tok Beef - tender fillets of beef in a spicy mixture of lime, chili pepper, basil leaves, rice powder, and crisp red onion. R order Pad Thai - Thai thin rice noodles, pan fried chicken, shrimp, peanuts, bean sprouts and egg, and garnished with cilantro and scallion. I also ordered the appetizer Moo Ping - char-grilled marinated lean pork loin filets. All of the food had great flavors. The Moo Ping pieces of delectable pork were grilled and served on two wooden skewers, and had a light flavor that I didn't recognize, and on the same plate was a mixture of shredded green and purple cabbage and carrots. The pieces of Nam Tok Beef were cooked well done, yet were tender. The chili peppers added to this dish kicked the heat level up a notch, and I loved how spicy it was. In addition, there was a vinegary flavor that added a pop to each bite. Big basil leaves provided yet another welcomed flavor to this dish. The Pad Thai noodles were a little clumped together, and the chicken and shrimp were cooked well. I enjoyed the Pad Thai because it wasn't too sweet. Customer service was a little off. The server asked us what type of protein we wanted in the Pad Thai, even though the menu stated that it came with chicken and shrimp. When he brought our entrees, we weren't provided with any serving spoons. Even though the food was very delicious, we were both disappointed with what we felt were small food portions, with the exception of the Pad Thai, which had a decent amount of food. I'm actually surprised that the Nam Tok Beef didn't automatically come with some white rice. In general, I thought the food and drink we had at Surina Thai in Chamblee was delicious. This is another great addition to Buford Highway. I recommend this place if you're in the mood for "authentic" Thai food. Coincidentally, Surina opened only four months after another Thai restaurant, Tum Pok Pok, opened on BuHi. Surina opened in August 2021. Currently, these are the only two Thai restaurants of note on Buford Highway. I don't think you can go wrong with either, though I'd probably give a slight edge to Tum Pok Pok because of it's more adventurous menu and "truer" street food taste. That said, Surina offers dishes that Tum Pok Pok doesn't, such as Yen Ta Fo (more on that below). Both offer Thai dishes that are hard to find elsewhere in Atlanta. Surina replaced Chom Chom Vietnamese Kitchen (opened November 2019) at the relatively new Magnum Plaza: https://bit.ly/3m3tux4. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Chom Chom converted to outdoor patio dining and switched to a Malaysian menu (IIRC, Chom Chom was co-owned by some of the same folks behind the Mamak restaurants). Surina kept most of Chom Chom's beautiful, modern, naturally well-lit, and open interior. The eight-seat bar is still there as are the ornate straw light fixtures above the center space. Unlike Chom Chom, Surina doesn't have outside seating yet. When I asked employees, they said that outside seating was planned and in the works. During our visit, it was indoor dining only. However, to be clear, everything above was worth getting. I do think the size of the apps could be bigger. Order more if you share. The Look Chin Ping meatballs, which I believe were made with a blend of beef and pork, were sweet and salty thanks to the combination of savory meat and the sweet tamarind sauce. The Thai Fried Chicken was crispy and tender. Very tasty. The Papaya Salad was fresh and full of flavor. Spicy too, as was the Spicy Beef Salad. Our server didn't ask us about spice level. These brought the heat. If you don't like spicy food, watch out. The Spicy Beef Salad was also packed with flavor. The steak was delectable. The Roasted Duck with Red Curry was solid with tender, bone-in duck and a wonderful curry that was richly-flavored. If you're a fan of Thai curries then I think you'll like it. The Drunken Noodles were terrific. They were some of the best Drunken Noodles I've had in the Atlanta area in recent memory. Like some of the other dishes we had, Surina's Drunken Noodles were nice and spicy. I really liked the Hainan Chicken Thai Style, one reason being this was one of my favorite casual dishes to eat in Thailand. It's a somewhat oily dish - in a good way - that's addictive to eat. The seasoned rice and two sauces set Surina's version apart from other Hainanese chicken rice I've had in Atlanta. If you want to try a couple items that are unique, I recommend both the Yen Ta Fo pink noodle soup and the Nom Yen pink milk. Yen Ta Fo is a rarity in Atlanta. The broth has an appetizing sour/vinegar taste. I loved that morning glory a.k.a. ong choy (water spinach) was included. As for the Nom Yen, it was milk with Hale's Blue Boy syrup added. It's a common and popular drink syrup in Thailand, but not one I've really seen in the States until now. The flavor is unique -- sweet and fruity. The Thai Iced Tea was excellent. Love this place! My friend recommended it to me because she's heard great things about it and Syrian Thai definitely did not disappoint. I was impressed from the moment I walked in. The decor here is very upscale and modern, and the place is easy to find with plenty of parking. I was super surprised when I looked at the menu because everything on there was priced great so I ordered two entrees. I got the pad Thai and the masaman curry with beef. The masaman curry was the best curry I've ever had. Super flavorful with very tender beef. I also tried some of their drunken noodles which was delicious as well. One of my favorite Thai food experiences in Atlanta so far. A great late Valentine's Day dinner! My fiancé and I split tom kha gai soup and potstickers for appetizers. The soup was HUGE and soooo good. The potstickers were also tasty and sat in a tasty, panang-like sauce. Also a plentiful dish for us two. With the apps and hot sake, we were already pretty full by the time our entrees came! My fiancé loved his Kao Moo Dang and I adored the Kao Cook Kapi (sp?). We brought most of the entrees home. The prices aren't too bad either, but I believe the flavors might be somewhat muted to cater to their patrons. Based on the server's recommendation, we ordered the Kao Cluk Kapi, and if you're looking to explore and try something a bit different, I'd highly recommend this dish - it is beautiful and tasted unique with the fresh ingredients mixed with the rice and the subtle flavor of shrimp paste. Definitely the highlight dish of the meal! The only thing I didn't thoroughly enjoy here was the Nom Yen drink. I struggle with this review because the gentleman that took care of our table was so nice. It seems that this restaurant is going through some kind of transition because they told me that their liquor license went with a previous owner or partner and that they're in the process of getting a new one. Perhaps that partner took some of the kitchen staff because only one of our dishes was decent. The other two were, sorry to say, horrible. I almost never send food back, but this was probably the clearest case of food that wasn't fit to be served to customers. The curried fried catfish looked and tasted like it had already been sent back by someone, a day or two prior. The texture was like rubber and you could barely cut into it with a spoon and fork. And then came the chicken in basil. The ground chicken was gamey and tasted like it was just not fresh. I ordered online for takeout on a Friday night. My fiance and I both got pad see ew but one with beef and one with pork. We also ordered different spice levels. The food was really good, flavorful and delicious. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is because they mixed up our spice levels which meant I really struggled to make it through my meal and that took away from my ability to enjoy it. I like a little spice so I can only imagine how someone with a very low spice tolerance would have felt. I'll be back, but will be sure to really try to emphasize the different spice levels. We've driven by this place many times and kept saying we need to try it. This past week we decided to finally go. The spring rolls had shrimp and pork in it, but a little too much basil as the basil overpowered the taste of everything else in it. Even with the peanut sauce, you could still taste the basil over everything else. For entrees, our party ordered the basil leaves, pad see u, and the drunken noodles. The basil leaves and drunken noodles were spiced just the way I like it (3 of 5 peppers?) and we gobbled those plates pretty quickly. We weren't sure what to think of the pad see u, as it tasted a little on the bland side. Tables are spaced decently far apart and all the staff were masked. They're all super friendly too! Thai milk coffee- pretty standard Thai coffee, but it was a bit heavy on the condensed milk/ sweetness for my taste Potstickers with red curry- pretty unique and tasty appetizer Spicy crispy catfish- was 3 s but not too spicy. Pretty flavorful and crispy and I could taste a hint of fish sauce. Would def get again. Tum yum fried rice- sounded pretty unique but the flavor wasn't anything too special. this place is one of my go tos for Thai food and I highly recommend checking them out. Parking- ample, FREE in lot outside that is shared with several other businesses. Restaurant ambience- Super cute, very open. They have outdoor seating, and before you enter to the left there is a very cute corridor of string lights. Great for pics. Service- Fabulous, fast, and efficient. We didn't have many questions about the menu. You also pay at the table side, it's a fast process once you ask for the check. Ok, now onto the food lol! I got the pad kee mao with tofu. This is beautifully seasoned, spiced, and had a great balance of being saucy without actually being too saucy. They had a good amount of veggies and firm tofu. The portion size definitely lends itself to having leftovers (I love two meals in one dinners), and is portioned well. The thai iced tea is also great. I wouldn't say it's truly authentic, but every dish is super flavorful while still being slightly catered to the American palate. The restaurant itself is quite spacious and clean, and would be great for larger group dinners. My favorite dishes are the penang curry and thai fried rice. SO GOOD. I noticed this Thai restaurant when I visited Mamak last week and checked the reviews and discovered it was fairly new so I was pretty excited when my sis said she was in the mood for Thai food tonight. We sat down and couldn't stop admiring the décor, the restaurant is tastefully decorated and the leaning Buddha reminded me of my visit to Thailand. I love dining with friends and family that enjoy sharing dishes, my sis and I decided to order a few items and share.   Our waitress Amy came over within a few minutes of us sitting and brought water over and introduced herself, she was a sweetheart, very helpful, friendly, and had a good sense of humor. She provided several recommendations for starters and entrees which was much appreciated and even helped us with our boomerang toast. LOL. Service was excellent!   Now to the good stuff..AKA food! Fresh Basil Rolls with shrimp no pork served with plum sauce $5 - very fresh and light, the plum sauce was perfect. Crispy Squid $8 - generous portion of calamari lightly breaded, it sort of reminded me of tempura shrimp/veggie appetizer at Japanese restaurants, it has a very different taste and the calamari was fresh and cooked to perfection. Papaya Salad $8 - this is a must for an appetizer, very flavorful and the ingredients were very fresh, no stale or wilted veggies here...perfect spicy level. Shrimp Curry $12 - this dish had two pepper symbols on the menu so I was expecting for it to have some spice. Although it was very good curry it had no spice to it so I would increase the level if I order again. This dish is a green Thai curry sauce served with bell peppers, green beans, basil leaves, cabbage and zucchini, you also get a side of rice Drunken Noodles $10 - my favorite and go to dish at any Thai restaurant, I thought the noodles were very good and enjoyed the taste but like the shrimp curry, I needed a little more spice. Thai Milk Tea and Thai Ice Tea with lime, each drink was $3.50 and very good!   As you can see, the prices are very affordable for a Thai restaurant in the city. Excellent food, great service, free parking, open dining area= 5 stars! Good Thai food! Located in the same space as what use to be Mamak. The food was good and better priced than Tom Puk Puk however I don't think it was as authentic. Our papaya salad lacked the pungent fish sauce and didn't pack as much heat as I wanted. Lao sausage also lacked strong flavors. My pad see ew was delicious but could use more seasoning as well. The shrimp were GINORMOUS. My fiancé got the fried rice and it was just OK. I like it but he wasn't too impressed. Fried wontons were above average. Worth a try if you're in the area but I personally wouldn't go out of the way to come here. read more

Surina Thai is on everyone radar. Nothing but good reviews. First no Thai restaurant off BuHi and now there's two! First Tum Pok Pok and now Surina Thai. Surina Thai is located in same plaza as Mamak Vegan off Chamblee Tucker Road. We came in at 11 am to beat the lunch crowd and thank goodness we did! By noon, people were waiting for tables! I ordered the tofu Basil. I opted for rice instead of noodles. I asked for Thai hot and the spice is there. I could've handled more but decided not to. My friend got the Tom Yum and Isaan sausage. I drank the soup and Tom Yum is delicious. I like how sour it is and enough spice. There are bits of fresh red Thai chili's inside. I cleaned up my plate. Service is amazing! Interior is nice. Gives an elegant feel. Liked the Siddhartha Gautma aka Buddha statue. I have to admit I enjoyed myself here more than the other Thai place down the street! Coming back! 96/2021 read more
