Vegan cheese pizza with hatch green chilis and mushrooms
Rachael R.

For some reason I was under the impression that Surfside was another college bar (maybe I was confusing it with Bondi) but it's far from that. Turns out this bar is actually a super cool punk rock dive with great food, killer tunes, and awesome service. Throughout the night, we were checked on consistently and the servers were so friendly and cool. After some local beers and jukebox requests, I happened to notice that the menu had vegan cheese as a pizza topping. This was momentous for me, because pizza is what I miss most since going vegan, and it's rare that I'm at a bar and able to order a late night bite that suits my dietary needs. And let me tell you this pizza was off the hook. We topped our dairy free pizza with hatch green chilis and mushrooms. The crust was rustic and crispy with a dusting of flour--really impressive. I'll definitely be going back to Surfside. Next time I'll probably wear my leather jacket and prepare some more song requests for the jukebox!

Fort Collins is finally maybe sorta getting cool. I generally loathe coming back to this cold, sleepy, highly generic front range city, but it's where my parents live, so it's a necessary pilgrimage. The Surfside 7 has made this visit a lot less painful with $2 PBRs. It's a typically scuzzy punk rock bar with cheap wells and occasional bands--something you'd think would be a fixture in a college town, but that has been lacking in Ft. Fun for a long time. The bartenders aren't particularly friendly, but that might change if you're more than an annual regular. Thanks for dulling the pain, Surfside.

Great punk rock bar, good drinks specials, excellent pizza and really good cheap live music. What else do you need?

We will definitely have to go back to try more. Everything we had was amazing!!! If you get a combo you get $2 off an adult beverage. Nice touch. I got the cheesesteak and the rhine combo wirh classic poutine. My husband got meatloaf (a special) and the smothered chicken combo with classic poutine. My friend got bahn mi with chicken and buffalo chicken combo and tater eclairs. Her husband got southern chicken and bahn mi chicken combo with cheese curds. We also got the tater eclairs on the side with the brown sugar bacon aioli. Wow. I got the adult lemonade, my friend got the Ricky and her husband got the bourbon drink. The back patio area was nice. You order at the counter and they give you a number then bring it out to you when it's ready. We will absolutely be back.

They're rated really high -- actually one of the highest-rated restaurants in Fort Collins -- and from a food perspective I don't really understand why. Sliders with sweet potato fries -- fine, nothing extraordinary. Potato éclairs -- . It was really just mashed potatoes with some topping on it. I honestly didn't even finish it. Mountain oysters -- huge letdown. They came out so overcooked they were basically crunchier than potato chips, with the batter crumbling off. I've never had them before, so I didn't get a good representation of how they're supposed to be -- these were just super-cooked batter. On the space: we ended up sitting in three different spots to eat. We went outside by the street first -- super loud, and people were smoking, so we headed back in. The open spot inside was right under the AC and about forty degrees, so we moved to the back area. The back was fine -- covered -- but pretty dirty, with mop buckets and clutter sitting around. The one drink I had was a good value since we were there at happy hour -- some kind of fruity whiskey drink. It was fine, but nothing I'd seek out again. I hate to give such a friendly place a bad review. It'd be a really great spot if you're a college student who wants some cheap bites and a drink -- but honestly it's just bar food, and the ceiling is probably a 4 on a really good day. I wouldn't get excited to head down there, and parking is a bit of a hassle too. Would recommend only if you're after very cheap eats in that area -- check them out for happy hour. But I would not return.

We originally planned to stay for happy hour, but ended up spending nearly three hours there because we were enjoying ourselves so much. Social is one of those rare places that completely lives up to the hype. From the moment you walk downstairs, the atmosphere transports you to another era. The speakeasy vibe is authentic without feeling gimmicky, and every detail has clearly been thoughtfully designed. It's a super cool speakeasy with a warm, inviting interior that makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. We shared the charcuterie board, which was excellent, and enjoyed both the champagne and the bourbon. Everything was high quality and thoughtfully prepared. Ryan, our bartender, really made the experience special. He treated us exceptionally well, made us feel genuinely welcome, and provided outstanding service throughout the evening. What started as a plan to enjoy happy hour turned into one of the most enjoyable evenings we've had in a long time. It's the perfect place for a date night or simply a relaxing evening with exceptional food, outstanding cocktails, and an atmosphere that's second to none. We'll definitely be back now that we live here in Fort Collins. If you're looking for an unforgettable experience in Fort Collins, Social is an absolute must-visit. Highly recommended!
